You're just going to be a psych minor clone then. How unoriginal

Nothing definite yet. We'll see how it goes.

Philosophy only helps you in real life if you're smart enough to transfer the skills. Philosophy is the basis for all this talk about communication theory, speaker/listener issues, culture influence, pedegogical theory, computer science, etc... But it takes work to extract and apply the more abstract concepts brought out in formal and technical philosophy to every day issues.
My knowledge and ability of such philosophical thinking is still in its developmental stages, I believe. It will be a while before I can begin to really apply what I know and have yet to know.

Boo to you! The world needs more thinkers who can critically assess their culture! Then again, I'm not a good poster child for philosophy as I'm a major social outcast/geek

For me, all the "real" subjects were too easy, but I found philosophy actually challenging.
Part of the appeal is the challenge. I assure you that I will likely continue to engage in philosophical thinking whether you like it or not.

::Edit:: I don't think psychology is as practical as you think. Counseling is, but psychology is more scientific in the undergrad level and quite removed. Perhaps I haven't seen a curriculum in a while, but I learned more by doing role plays with counseling classes in grad school than the psych majors I knew.
I have yet to take part in the curriculum. I will let you know if it is any different now than it was then.
