and about the creature, ouroboros is also plausible, although general form of it is a little bit different from Envy's transforming.ouroboros is sometimes drawn as a pure surpent shape or a dragon with 2 or 4 legs.

Oh but that's only what they want us to think. If Ed goes back to his world (which he could do anytime), he becomes just another alchemist. A very talented one yes, but there are alchemists all over the place. If he stays here, then he is a god.

I don't think Envy could ever make it beyond The Gate. He has no soul after all. If HoL and Ed are any proof, then our world is the place where bodiless souls gather.
Here's my thought - HoL lost his body when Dante separated his mind, soul, and body so his soul went to our world. Ed gave up his body to Al, so his soul goes to our world. Neither HoL or Ed have physical bodies in their world anymore, so they can't return via alchemy.
So they're stuck.
Since Envy has no soul and probably can't go to London without one, chances are he's still trapped within the Gate.

We''l base the argument on this... The same soul/person can only have one instance on each side of the gate. Meaning you can't have two Eds on the same side of the gate at any given time.

Now...

Ed DID NOT sacrifice his body, or at least not all of it, to bring back Al. If he did, he would not even be able to exist in our world since his equivalent has already died and there is no body to host his soul. Again, AL'S BODY WAS INSIDE THE GATE THE WHOLE TIME. Ed sacrificed his arm and leg to find it and to find Al's soul.

Hohenheim did not lose his body either. Otherwise why the hell is it still rotten? The Fact is that Hohenheim is actually hundreds and hundreds of years old. Therefore his equivalent has long been dead. With that said, he can now exist on 'our' side of the gate.

We'll assume that you can still perform alchemy while inside the gate. Since Ed's body was still in it while he was on this side the first time, he was able to sacrifice the soul of 'our' Ed to return to his world. Now that Ed's equal is dead, he has no equivalent trade to get him back to his world. The same goes for Hohenheim.

That would be me. And I thought he needed to have seen the actual thing. How else could he have transformed into a detailed version of the serpent? Or is this a dense question to ask?

When Envy was transforming, he transformed into his animal/color counterpart.. the representation for the sin Envy is a green serpent (Leviathan?), right? He would have already known what that looked like even though this was mentioned before....

yeah uh.. he turns into the "Green Dragon of Envy" lol. somebody said something to me and i think they're right. that showing envy turning into the serpent and coming to 'our world' is like proving that monsters really do exist here and how they come. when real humunculi cross the gate they become monsters.. i think lol.




i think you're on the right track!! maybe monsters don't have souls though, and since the humunculi don't have souls, that is why they become monsters? hm.

Hmmm, couldn't it be that the Homunculi-don't-have-souls-thing is just a bunch of crap? And Envy really did transport into another body once he came out on the other side of the Gate...?

Hmmm, yeah I know about that soulles Homunculi thingamabob... but I can't stop my mind from wondering about Envy... really turning out to be that snake/serpent/Leviathan in the end. Maybe he'll come out on the other side of the Gate as a human. Or maybe he'll be stuck inside the Gate until Al, Ed or Hohenheim manage to get back to their own world... or something.

Very interesting theory..I thought that the dragon looked A LOT like the one of Dragonball Z... Maybe it foreshadowed that since Funanimation took FMA to North America..it was a resemblence of the dragon from Dragonball Z, which funanimation also "took care" of.. lol.

Got the newest issue of Animage yesterday. With it comes a special booklet that contains updated character designs (up to Edward's present appearance at present, in Munich)

Found the green serpent design here. Kinda small, but yeah.



Says at the bottom:
Envy's last transformation (snake: uroboros?) before disappearing into the gate.

In other words, with that question mark, even the Japanese are confused over what that reptile is.

Only the story-editor and director would know really... since this IS a fan magazine.
