I don't see many fans here, but I'm definatly one. She's an adorable child prodigy. She can fight with or without alchemy, and she can heal as well, and still appear adorable. She's the first to really show that Scar's not such a terrible person. Her panda is also adorable. (Gotta love Xiao Mei's food pyramid) And her fantasy's of Edward were one of the funniest parts of the manga. Hopefully her love interest will switch to Al

Overall she's one of my favorite characters in the manga. Hopefully I'm not alone.

By the way, you can discuss AlxMei as well as Mei and Xiao Mei here, since I doubt both are popular enough for their own threads.

But then again, it's not hard for me to grow to like a character. its cool how she gets this evil serious look and goes around beating people up cuz she looks so cute and happy!! and the bond between her and her lil panda is really adorable too!! and i'm glad that someone out there befriended scar. they look so odd together, but it's cute too. hahaha she's just overflowing with CUTENESS.

And, mei chan will have a huge role to play, no doubt. She's the only rentanjutsushi in the series, which is important on it's own, and she's cute and has an adorable panda who likes to eat yoki and ed even more than normal food.

Mei-chan is awesome! I especially love her face off with Ran Fan. She's so little and cute but so.... grrr. Yeah, she kinda reminds me of my sister. Adorable and hysterical untill she's pissed off.

I really hope she has a big role later on, i'd love to read more with her in it. She adds so much funness into the plot line, especiall Scar. She brings out his nice(or at least not-so-evil) siide.

I like Mei Chan, but, in the recent chapter, when RanFan met Mei, that was kind of a rude awakening about the their positions... about Ling and Mei being enemies, and about how Mei sees and treats/looks down RanFan.
And, both were quite vicious, too. (Tho, I can certainly understand why.)

i'll admit, it was a rude awakening, but i think it adds more to what could be the outsome of the story. Personally, i don't think they'll stay enemies for too long, what with the Homunculus trying to kill them both. I can see Mei and RanFan becoming somewhat friends, or at least allies, but it would definatl be and extreme like/hate relationship.

Love her. She's adorable.

Cuteness aside, I think Mei's character has a lot of potential. For a pint-sized girl, she has a lot of attitude. (Kind of reminds me of a certain bean boy that we all love.) As for her behavior towards Ran Fan...I think it reveals a lot about social and political dymanics in Xing. How can they not hate each other? Their clans/families are vying for the same throne. It shows that they're both intensely dedicated to their clans. Heck, if they were friendly right from the start, I would suspect that they're in some sort of conspiracy against one (or both) of the clans, which would totally diminish their characters in my eyes.

Besides, how can I hate someone who calls her panda "Xiao Mei"? That is just too cute.

So true. Or, they might act friendly, hiding their true feelings, and conspiring against each other on the behind. Either way sound icky, and I guess that straight forward cat-fighting was more honest way. And, I agree that it reavealed quite a bit about the political dynamics of the Xing country with that fight.
It just that I was cought off gurd with it, like so many things Arakawa-sensei throws at us!!

Summoner_Colette, your not alone! I think she is a great character, and like Mei_Tenshi said, she does remind me of a female version of Ed. Not only is she very adorable, but Mei Chan is very talented in her fighting skills. I can't wait to see the bigger role she'll be playing in future chapters. ^.^

Although she isn't my favourite character, I think that Mei-chan has a great deal of potential and I would love to see her play a greater role in the series. She has a feisty and high-spirited personality and I am going to agree with AMAG that she reminds me of a young female version of Ed. She has proven herself to be quit the talented alchemist with her skills in rentanjutsu; she even stood up to Father alongside Alphonse. Hopefully, Arakawa will have something interesting in store for Mei in the upcoming chapters.

I am really not sure as well. From her character design she looks fairly young and I was thinking around nine or ten. I don't think that Arakawa has an exact age for her yet.

About her age, I don't know my guess is around 13. If she is as much like Ed as everyone thinks she is she would be older than she looks or seems.

I think Mei is 12, or something like that. I think she's really adorable and I think she's gonna play a really big role, when the manga goes back to present time. I can't wait to see what will happen next.

Mei chan is just one of those characters that'll draw you to the manga since she's not in the anime T_T. I mean, how could you resist that cute girl with that equally cute panda? Hahaha. But yeah, she seems to be around 10-12? Arakawa portrays her as very young... but she's got some skills for someone that young!

She looks young, but the look is rather deceiving, since she is wise beyond her age, IMO.

I find her to be a bit annoying, but she is a vital character to the story. Xiao Mei is awesome, but doesn't play much of a role, besides ticking Ed off. They're so adorable. xD Obviously, Ed is forced to seek out both her and Scar to learn more about alchemy.

AlxMei is becoming more realistic, especially after the most recent chapter release (62, I believe).

Her fantasy of Prince Alphonse in chapter 62 was certainly amusing. I think that Mei is in love with her ideal image of Alphonse much like she was with her idealised image of Edward. I don't know if anything will blossom between Al and Mei because they have such different personalities. I'm waiting for her to take on a larger role in the manga though. I believe that she can help the brothers out, despite Ed's extreme dislike for her.

I definetly agree with you Tombow. I can see Mei's Rentanjutsu playing a vital role in the upcoming chapters. (Hopefully, he will be able to dechiper the notes that belong to Scar's brother and possibly find some new information.) I just hope that Father doesn't find a why to control Rentanjutsu as he does with Renkinjutsu.

Her design is rather cute, but I never really liked her (or the panda) much.

^ Yeah, Mei can be bratty in a way sometimes. But, I guess that helps sometimes, dealing with being out in the foreign land by herself at that young age with a mission. And, I assume some of her attitude is coming from her social status, like how she treated RanFan when they first met. And, her sometimes naive way of thinking is probably coming from her young age and lack of life experience, I guess. Especially about her fixed view on her dream boyfriend. XDD
Like most of FMA characters she has her imperfections, but I think her heart is in a good place, and she provides many comic moments with her unrealistic pursuit of her dream mate. XDD
And, I think she will have some important role in the remaining chapters of FMA manga.
