I don't think you should try to make fun of RoyEd fans like this (especially when you are too using netspeak...), especially when there is as much retards in every pairing fandom (which includes RoyAi and EdWinry). I can even quote you some on this forum. You're just generalizing, however, I know people who write excellent yaoi fics, and who'll be more than happy to argue with you. Plus, you're not making the side of EdWin fans look better; 'I like it because it's cute' or even because it's supposedly canon are both shallow reasons.

Doesn't mean we have to like it because it looks like it's gonna happen, while it may not and in that case, I guess you'd hate the manga too because it did not give you what you wanted?

Maybe I'm weird, but I just haven't come to like Roy and Riza as much. The anime gives them basically no backstory at all. We know about Roy's Ishbal service but Riza had no part in it, and it was never explained how they met or why Riza became so faithful to Roy. (Feel free to prove me wrong, I stopped watching near the end of the series)The manga has only just begun to explain their history in the recent chapters and I'm starting to warm to them a bit, but it's gonna take more time to convince me that there's any real romance there.

Now for Ed and Winry we have loads of material. There's more information about them and their pasts and I like knowing the life stories of my protagonists. You can see them maturing and working through the confusion of first love without it being said outright. They have enough in common to be best friends but are different enough to argue and disagree. Pretty much everyone in the cast knows they belong together except for them(if Al and Riza say so, then it has to be true)! Ed's frantic denials and insistence that Winry is "just a friend" make it all the more obvious that she's NOT "just a friend." Winry has admitted to herself that she's in love with Ed but he has yet to come to terms with his own feelings for her. It will be very interesting to see what happens when they see each other again.

So who are the 11 other people who voted EdxWin? Please tell me I'm not alone!

Roy and Riza are about to reveal their past relationship in the manga, so that will be interesting to see.

As for me its still Ed/Win and always has been. The manga is making it perfect for people who support it and those who don't. It's not completely in your face but those who look out for these hints will find them. I really want to see what Winry will be like when she physically see's Ed again.

@animony: I do love Manga!EdWin, can't see it happening in the anime though, although I guess i can see where you are coming from about the royai for the same reason. THe Roy/Riza awesomeness is severly cut from the anime, but in the manga, there's loads of stuff. below are some highlights:
[spoiler] 1.)In chapter 30 , when BArry the Chopper falls in love with Riza,or gets a crush on her or whatever, Roy gets uber jealous/ overprotective.
2.) in chapter 37, Roy freaks out when Riza quits responding over the little headphone communicator thingy, and has a little flashback of dead hughes in a phone booth, showing that he's very worried about her.
3.)In chapter 38, when he arrives and finds she's ok, he tells her(specifically, not the other subordinate people who are also close friends,) that's he's glad she's alive. ANd she says, 'sorry for worrying you.'
4.) In Chapter 39(my favorite chapter), when Lust tells Riza she killed Roy, Riza loses control. (This is Riza remember, she's calm, collected, definatly not the freak out types.) SHe empties multiple rounds at lust, and she cries. BAsically, she looses the will to live, and if it weren't for Al, she probably would have been killed. (gasp!) but then, when Roy comes back, she runs to him as soon as possible, and again, he tells her he's glad she's ok and thanks AL for protecting her, while he's laying there almost bleeding to death.
5.) In chapter 49, again, we see Riza doing everything she can to support Roy in the fight against gluttony after he was hurt.
6.) In Chapter 50, RIza won't leave Roy while he goes in to confront the Furher, and waits all through the night
7.) Even Fuhrer Bradley knows it! In chapter 52, he assigns Riza directly under him to keep Mustang from being bad. Ed knows it too! In chapter 56, when he finds out about Riza's reassignment, he thinks, 'damn, that's a good hostage!'
8.) Also, two of Riza's family members, her grandfather and her father, have entrusted her to ROy's care. ANd Riza's dad was his teacher, so... yeah.
I havent read chapter 59 yet, but from what i've heard there's evdance in there too.

There are tons of other mini hints too. just their converstaions are fun. And that, i s why ROyai is amazing.

EdxWin's pretty cool. Especially with the latest manga chapters and all. Arakawa is GOD. I just realised that they havnt appeared in chapter 59 o_O oh dear. Normally Arakawa switches scenes between the main characters...like Roy and Riza and Ed and Al. (if that makes sense to you)
I feel for Al though...he's too fat to have a relationshiphe doesn't even have his own body...I wonder if he still has his heart...anyway, still a supporter of Royai.

RoyRiza is much better. Actually my favorite pairing ^.^ I'm an EdRose and AlWinry fan, so the choice was obvious.

I think it's fair to say that I like the pairing Royai (RoyxRiza) for a number of reasons.

I do agree on the basis that they don't show much background info on the two, like their pasts (except Roy's which was the war, etc.) But with me not reading the Manga (I know, I know, I should read it) I still think, with the basis of the anime (minus the movie because I haven't seen that yet either -.-) I still think that there could be a possible hint of romance in there somewhere? Perhaps I'm just reading between the lines..

But sometimes you just have to read between the lines to actually get something out of a storyline, maybe?

Anyway, here are the reasons why I like Royai:

1) Roy is hot, adorable and not to mention single? (that's what I get the impression of, though, I won't deny that he doesn't date casually).
[/b]2)[/b] Riza pretty much is the only one who can "tame" the Flame Alchemist, if you think about it (WOO! GIRL POWER! .. God, that was corny).
3) I write Royai fan fiction. What else is more to say about that? >>;
4) I love the "forbidden love" aspect of the (potentual) relationship.
5) Hughes once said Roy needed a wife.. Maybe Roy doesn't even need to look very far for one?
6) There is slight evidence in the Manga (from what other posts I've read, etc. etc.).

Okay, and that's about all I can think of right now. XD!

But seriously, if you cannot see them walking down the asile (maybe at the end of the Manga series, and of course, with Maes Hughes' complete blessing), then there is seriously something wrong. ^^ I mean, some people should try reading in between the lines, sometime. It's fun.

Royai-ness in the series is only shown @ the later parts..

As far as I could remember in the series.. these are the more obvious ones.. I'm losing my brain juice..

Yes, there are both anime and manga supported hints at royAi, also if you analyze things into deeper meanings, even subtle scenes are very royAi. Such as...

1. -anime- How only Riza was in on the plan to go kill the Fuhrer, and not Havoc, Falman, Breda, or Fuery.
2. -manga- How Roy and Riza yell at/reprimand each other everytime they risk their lives for the other. i.e. [spoiler]When Lust tells Riza that Roy's dead, Roy later yells at her for believing what Lust told her, when Roy rushes over to Riza at the amazing speed of 39 miles when their radio transmission is cut off, Riza yells at Roy for being reckless. The love abounds! [/spoiler]
3. -anime/manga- When Roy is standing at Hughes' grave, Riza's the only one who's standing next to him, not even Glacier/Gracia -what the hell~ which ever you prefer- is talking to him.
4. -anime/manga- [spoiler]Roy asks Riza to follow him, and Riza pledges allegiance many times.[/spoiler]
5. -movie- [spoiler]Roy leaves Riza in a tough love, She's better off without my blood soaked hands, her happiness lies in a place without me, sort of ordeal. ScHMExY Stupid idiot [/spoiler]

The anime, in my opinion, seems to lean more towards EdRose in some parts; the EdWin vibe there is not consistent.

So, my vote goes to Roiai. And besides, Riza doesn't hit Roy over the head when he does something wrong.

Anyway, it's good to see a healthy Royai Roiai population here. Of course we're all entitled to personal opinions, but I find Ed and Winry's relationship as more sibling based. Of course they'll get a little flirty/blushy sometimes, being as Ed is practically the only teenage boy Winry's... um... seen in her entire life. That and I don't read the manga.

So yes, Roiai for the win xD

I do think its easier to argue that Roy and Riza have more potential as a couple, but really you are compairing two adults with two teenagers. Roy has been with women, Ed hasn't. Riza is with Roy most of the time, Winry isn't near Ed...its almost as if Roy and Riza are just easier to put together.

Like I said I like them both, but you have to read the manga before you really see potential for either pairing.

Yeah I noticed the tv put more Royai moments then the manga. I can't even remember when in the manga.

It depends on if it's the anime or the manga.

In the anime, I see potential for RoyAi, especially in episode 51, which I won't delve into right now. ><

For EdWin in the anime, I don't see much potential for it. They act more like siblings than anything else.

In the manga, I still see potential for RoyAi, thanks to events which are too numerous to count. EdWin, in the manga, is most definately potential, seeing as how Winry mentions something about "falling for Ed", and of course, when Riza brings up the possibility of Ed loving Winry, he spazzes out (spitting his drink on Black Hayate...priceless. XD), not giving a straight sentence.

So, given the two mediums, I like RoyAi more. Even in the manga, I'm not much on EdWin...Ed just seems like the loner type to me, anyway.
