My theory being...

Its a red herring, and that something will stop him from regenerating mid-way through. I'm guessing it will either be Dalek influence or something like Rose taking him to her parrallel universe which stops the process....somehow. DT has been filming more Doctor Who episodes, so unless they are all flashbacks (pray not) sure he has to be back.

It's either that, or a really good cover up

The other theory being Donna is...a Time Lady!
Tombow
@Chiyo and Twilightz - Rumor has it that for the next season, David Morrissey is also going to play Doctor. One theory says they're going to split the Doctor into two, keeping Tennant, and detaching Morrissey's. ohmy.gif

What I heard is that Tennant wanted out because he wanted to do other stuff, then they offered him big money, and so he decided to stay (yeah yeah XD) but also, they are filming only 7 episodes, or something like that, with him for the next season so that he can do some other stuff, or something.... So... maybe this is how they came up with as the solution?

My theory is that something goes wrong during the regeneration, and the Doctor will get split into two, and one will be played by David Morrissey while Tennent's Dr. stays getting regenerated or something... ^^

Anyway, this is going to get interesting... in a weired kind of way.... for the next season!! ohmy.gif
Chiyo
Actually Tombow, if the rumours are true you are right

It's all about his hand, so I hear there will indeed be two Doctors, one in Rose's universe and one in ours
Twilightz
^ DO NOT WANT. D: My god, sometimes it just seems that the whole show is about Rose. X_X As much as I like the Doctor and Rose... that would just be too cheesy. Too much freakin' fanservice.
Chiyo
^Unless she is the one to die, of course.
Lost Alchemist
Well to pop everything. she and the new Dr. Live with each other. While Donna gets to come home after haveing her mind wiped from being a timelord. so, that's old news. and something I wish was never true, Torchwood is not comeing back. it's sad. nor is Jane. It's sad really, but they where in place to move the story to the last two eps. I heard that the Dr. is comeing back in the summer of 2010. But that may not be true, it may be the summer of 2009. but it's a summer thats true.
Chiyo
Because David Tennant has many other things to do, they aren't filming a full sries until 2010 but there will be 4 special episodes between now and then, and if rumour is true.

Donna will be back briefly and the Master will make an appearence
Lost Alchemist
Who knows. I hope so.........
Chiyo
Was anyone else dissapointed by the Christmas special? I just felt it was lacking something...probably originality.

Oh and the new Doctor has been revealed see here
Thane
After seeing that Christmas special I really hope they dont absolutely destroy David Tennant's last few episodes. It was an utter disaster. mad.gif
Tombow
Just watched Dr. Who Christmas 2009 Special (part 1.)

So, the Master is not dead, huh?
And, he is taking over the Earth's population!! ohmy.gif

How does Dr. save everyone from the doom this time?
And, is he gong to survive? unsure.gif

Can't wait for the part 2!! biggrin.gif
Animeoldtimer
I have recorded the show on DVR and didn't get to watch it yet. I did accidentally catch the end of it. I'm glad it sounds like it was a good episode. I am recording part 2 on Saturday I debating about watching them together, but I don't think I can wait that long. laugh.gif I'm glad there are other DW fans here too!
Tombow
^ Yap, a long time fan. happy.gif

By the way, what was Timothy Dalton doing there in part 1? unsure.gif
(Was not quite clear about that part.)
Anyone has any clear idea about his role, please post and explain. ^^
Chiyo
Shall have to watch it and get back to you with that Tombow, after all I did do an assignment on Dr Who once wink.gif

I have to say I'm not all that bothered anymore. I will watch both episodes on BBC iplayer but this year I didn't seek it out on Christmas day like I did last year. I suppose as I didn't enjoy last years and I dislike the guy replacing Tennant the desire to keep up as faded.

Edit: Okay, haven't watched ep 1 yet but saw a trailer for part two and Timothy Doltons character is connected to Gallifray. You see him in a cape addressing "Gallifray", he may be a re-incarnation of the Master (?) or another Time Lord (doubt it) or a dupe being used by the Master
Tombow
@Chiyo - Aha, thank you for the info on the Timothy Doltons's role! ^^
And, yes, I know what you mean. I'm very apprehensive, or rather, "dreading" to see the day Tennant would no longer be the Doctor and this next guy would take over. And, I know it's right around the corner... sad.gif
Animeoldtimer
At first glance I don't like the new guy either. However, I didn't think I'd like Catherine Tate at first, but loved her as a companion in the end. So I will wait and see, but I'm not holding my breath. sleep.gif
Forsaken Love
I is sad, David Tenant is leaving after tommrows episode ;__; how sucky, he's so great in that roll, why does this series have to be so sad T_T whaaa, I don't like the new one
Dearheart
I just saw part 2 of The End of Time.

O - M - G. I cried. Just like last time. What an angst fest. BAAAAAAWWWW I FEEL SO DEPRESSED RIGHT NOW T__T

*sniffle* David, why did you have to leave us?? WHY??! *SOBS* Next to Tom Baker, you were the greatest and most beloved Doctor there was and OHMIGODIMGONNAMISSYOUSOMUCH!!! crybaby.gif

Now excuse me while I curl up into a ball with a box of tissues and a bag of chocolates and try to cheer myself up...
Animeoldtimer
Just did some balling myself. crybaby.gif Saw it on BBC America. I was so sad when he saidI don't want to go.

I'll give the new guy a chance. He said "Still not ginger." I thought that was a nice touch. I'll still like DT the best I think. I shall miss him.
Tombow
^ D'awww, Dearheart and Animeoldtimer. sad.gif *Sends them extra boxes of chocolate.*

And so, it ends. The end of the era of having DT as Dr. T.T
He was good, really really good. This may take a while to sink in to my head that he is really gone.
I think I'm going to stay in my "denial stage" about this for a while.

By the way, anyone got reminded of Star Trek by this episode? You know, the Time Lord reminded me of "Q," and I kept thinking of "death of Spock" scene in "The Wrath of Khan" movie while watching that "radiation" scene.
Forsaken Love
lulz at animeoldtimer you reminded me of what my mum allways sais, about everytime a new doctor comes along everyone pines about the old one and how the new one doesnt fit the part, but you get used to it within a few episodes, lulz she's been watching since the show was invented so i guess i should take her word for it XD and i really didnt like david tennent at first but really did by the end of his first episode sooo ill give the new guy a chance but i miss DT ;__;

OMG! That's what it reminded me of!!! It kept bugging me that the scene reminded me of something!! Thanks!

Forsaken Love--I felt the same way when Ecccleston left--not the crying part- just because he was good in the role. But I will miss Tennant a bit more. He was more "moving" in the role. However, I think it's a good career move for him.
Forsaken Love
i was so upset when eccleston left XD but im waaaay more upset about david tennant i guess 'cause he was in the roll way longer and he was really good in it, but yeh as you say probably a good career move, its not great for an actor to stay in one roll for too long
Chiyo
Certainly didn't do Tom Baker any favours.

If you can, David Tennant starred in an adaptation of Hamlet that might still be lurking on BBC iPlayer if you want to catch him in action.
Animeoldtimer
I'll have to check it out. I saw him in a TV Movie called Recovery in which he plays a brain injured person-similar to Harrison Ford in Regarding Henry, but a bit different. He was very excellent in the part and it was a good story as well.
Jealous Rogo
I personally am looking forward to the new series, not because of Matt Smith, though I'm thinking he could do a good job and not because of the new companion being easy on teh eyes. No, because the series is now in the hands of Steven Moffatt. The best writer of the past four series. The guy who gave us Blink! This guy is a great writer and I'm really looking forward to seeing him take it in a new direction. Russel T Davies was okay but Moffatt really out-shines him in the writing department.

That being said I'm gonna miss David tennant and I also wanna put the vote in now for Wilfred Mott as best companion tongue.gif
Animeoldtimer
Blink was one of my favorites too. I think Moffet will do a good job.
Dearheart
*revives dying thread cuz she's evil like that*

So...we're now 9 episodes into the new Who. What do you all think of the new dynamic duo? I was convinced that NO ONE could be as good as David Tennant, but Matt's really holding his own! In some ways, he's even more Doctor-y than the last one was. I really, really like him. He looks so young at a glance, but when you look more closely, there's this agelessness in his eyes that just takes your breath away. And there's still a tiny bit of the 10th doctor left in him, too. It's perfect. Just perfect. I'm really happy with him. Haven't completely fallen in love with him yet (and the 10th doctor will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart), but I'm definitely getting there.

AMELIA. POND. OMG. AmyAmyAmy I LOVE AMY!! I think she may be my favorite companion yet. I liked her the moment I saw her. (Plus, she's a hot scottish redhead, so that automatically makes her awesome in my book.) biggrin.gif And I LOVE the relationship she has with the Doctor. I love the whimsy and childishness and innocence in it. It feels sort of like a "Peter Pan and Wendy" sort of relationship, where it's not quite romance, but it's not quite a best friend thing either; and it's full of wonder and thirst for adventure. I'm especially glad that they're not doing the romance thing again. Dazzling as he may be, the Doctor only needs so many love interests. tongue.gif

Oh, and speaking of love interests...what do you think of Rory? I was afraid they would turn him into "Mickey - The Sequel!" but he actually turned out to be a wonderful character. I totally love him now. He may have his bumbling, clumsy, awkward moments, but underneath the "average joe-ness", he's a real sweetie with a heart of gold and a lot more courage than he realizes. wub.gif *snugs Rory*

And then go figure...THEY HAD TO GO AND KILL HIM OFF AND BREAK MY AMY'S HEART ASDFLKJASLKFLAKSDF MY FAVORITE CHARACTER ALWAYS DIES!!! THEY'D BETTER BRING HIM BACK IN THE SEASON FINALE OR SO HELP ME I WILL...DO SOMETHING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YET. BUT IT WON'T BE PRETTY.
Animeoldtimer
I've been watching on BBC America and the web and I am loving this season! I didn't think anyone would be able to follow up David Tennant, but I was wrong. Matt is awesome in the part! I just saw the last episode online and I won't spoil it, but it is a real treat. It gets your mind going.

I love the Doctor and Amy's relationship and Rory as well! So cool....like bowties! girl_in_love.gif
Tombow
I'm still following the series, though currently, I'm more fan of Rory than any other characters. XD
Rory was totally unabashedly "awwwwwww" inducing in the last episode, and I liked it. biggrin.gif
Animeoldtimer
Absolutely agree with you about Rory! So loyal! I said awwwww! too!

This sounds off the wall I know, but something about The Doctor, Amy and Rory remind me of Al, Ed and Winry. I could write a few paragraphs explaining myself, but I might spoil two shows and I don't want to do that. They really aren't that much alike I just have a habit of making connections with shows I like. I know it's silly, but FMA and Doctor Who are two shows that cheer me up and have a positive message to them in the end. Most of the shows made specifically for adults are not like that.

Ok, before I go off topic let me just say The Doctor+Amy+Rory=Great show! smile.gif
Tombow
Watched 2010 Christmas special.
I liked "Christmas Carol, Dr. Who version" of story.
It was a nice change from the usual "aliens invade Earth, and Dr. saves the day" story line. biggrin.gif
EdokunEdo
Yeah, i saw the christmas one too, one of the good ones and the snow was real (if you get what i mean)
Pyroclasm
Oh yeah, I saw this last night. happy.gif It was great.
Tombow
Just watched the first episode of the new season of Torchwood.

So, Capt. Jack is mortal now? ohmy.gif And, beside him, Gwen was the only Torchwook member survived? Ohh, I liked Lanto.

Now I got to find out what happens to Jack, Gwen, her hubby, and her baby.
Pyroclasm
Oooh, new Torchwood? I'll have to watch this...
Tombow
Anyone watched Dr. Who 2011 Christmas Special?
It's very different (i.e. detached) from the regular episodes, and very The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
It reminded me of "Twilight-zone" episodes, especially the one with the airplane gunman.
I liked it very much. biggrin.gif
