Full Version: Bands That Are Dead To You
Fullmetal Alchemist Discussion Board > General Discussions > General Music
Carnal Malefactor
Here's where we list all the bands and artists that you used to adore, but have, through dubious acts or a string of subpar releases, alienated you from their fan base[s].

Here are mine.

Metallica [obvious choice for any fan of heavy metal]
Slayer ['God Hates Us All'? More like 'God Hates This Album'!]
Dissection [I just heard that new album yesterday... It took Jon Nodveidt 8 years to come up with THIS?]
Vader [I just plain stopped caring...]
Black Sabbath [make music, or go away]
Envy's lil' miniskirt
I'll add to this later.

Ministry!
Ministry is dead to me.
Their last album Filth Pig sounded like White Zombie. If I wanted to hear WZ I would listen to one of thier albums, not a cheap imitation from a band that was once excellent.

mad.gif I hate to say it but they need to start doing drugs again, maybe it would improve their music.
Fayth Prophecy
All boy bands from the 90s like Backstreet Boys. They're like in their 20s or so and still trying to be all boy band-like. It's just pathetic to me.

Those don't count. NOBODY cares about them anymore.
Slashrose1010
Haha, no one cares about their new stuff.... there are still fans of some of their old works, I'll have you know...
Fayth Prophecy
Let's see then....ah! Korn.

Dead to me for many reasons, but one is the new stuff that's come out. It really sucks, compared to the older stuff. Plus, Head leaving the group due to spiritual beliefs, and saying that it was against his religion to play the music he was famous for.

As for that boy band thing, I was a bit peeved at one of my friends who still listens to that wannabe music.
Carnal Malefactor
Why did Korn need 2 guitarists to begin wilth? Their music is embarassingly simplistic...
Fayth Prophecy
I've always wondered that too. And the new stuff is way too easy now.
Carnal Malefactor
Maybe because they're really, really shitty musicians...
Fayth Prophecy
Well, now they are.
Dark Fate
Slipknot. Iowa stretched my patience. Subliminal Verses destroyed it.

Good Charlotte.

I'm sorry, boys. It was fun while it lasted. But your silly antics and juvenile lyrics no longer make me happy, and I'm having trouble understanding why I liked it all in the first place. It's all so very ridiculous. Anyway, thank you for providing me with a forum for my first crowdsurf, even if it was cut short by wimpy teenybopper girls. Thank you for providing my earliest experiences with real-person fanfiction and having the crap scared out of me by it. Thanks for Billy, that hotcakes. Thank you for giving me something to relate to while I felt that stage of sugary defiance. And now I publically disown my fandom of thee. *Disowns*
Smoke Alchemist
System of a down

Actually they have always been dead to me...As well as evanessence. *vomits blood*
Chiyo
*ahem* The....erm....Rasmus

It's over, gone, I should have seen the light earlier. The lyrics are not very creative and you love to repeat the same sounds over and over.
Chibka
Fallout Boy. I've never liked them, they are one-hit wonders and will be totally forgotten by autumn. They are so lame and oh-so steriotypical.
Envy's lil' miniskirt
^I think you misunderstood the question.

If you never liked them, that doesn't count.

Okay I'll be honest... sad.gif

Rasmus and Coldplay... ph34r.gif
Chibka
Sorry for my earlier screw-up.(that's like my third one today...)

And I agree with Greeneyes.
Slashrose1010
Phantom Planet. Their The Guest and Phantom Planet is Missing CDs were great, but their self entitled album, which is their newest, was bad from what I recall. I tried half the songs on the CD and I couldn't believe how bad it was. I really enjoy their old stuff, but if they release another CD, I won't expect much from it.

I'm with you on both. The Rasmus just died out here in the US and Coldplay will die out soon.

I still care. I loved their new song 'Incomplete'. But it's not that I'm a huge fan or something XD

The rasmus is dead to me, too. I can't believe I ever liked it to listen to their music!
Chiyo
Keane, it was a very quick romance, and now they have gone from my life entirely.
kaizenyorii
well keanes new album is coming out in june so they just might sweep back into your life again if youre not careful
Slashrose1010
I still like Keane, Coldplay and some Aqualung. They are the few mellow sounds I have on my playlist and they are needed at times.
Chiyo
Well, it can get too mellow, especially with Coldplay in the mix.

I've let go of Hard Fi too....after I realised nearly all their songs are pretty much the same sound.
Slashrose1010
I know what you mean. You get tired of Yngwie Malmsteen (and neo-classical in general) very quickly since all of his songs are basically extended guitar solos with a very similar sound.

I don't listen to Coldplay and Keane too often, so I am OK with them. You definitely need a rest if you listen to a lot of heavier stuff, too. Besides, I can relate to some of their songs and the atmosphere in their music, especially Coldplay.
Chiyo
I remember when Coldplay first came out many people were saying how miserable their music was. Now that may have been true for 'Trouble' but 'Yellow' wasn't dark at all.
kaizenyorii
people were too busy comparing coldplay to radiohead back then. its all changed now. coldplays is awesome. so is aqualung. and will young and gareth gates.
Chiyo

Get with the times! laugh.gif

Poor old Gareth, nobody really cared about him, whereas Will Young can apparently do no wrong. But if you look at the history of Pop Idol and Fame Academy its usually the losers who do better then the winners. They all vanish after a year or two.

I must second this.

Its getting old.
Lucrezia
I feel so ashamed about this:

S Club 8
Girls Aloud

Please shoot me now.

I used to adore those bands, but then I got into metal...and I realised how totally crap the aforementioned bands are. It makes me quite sad to think that I ever liked them.
Jaganshi
Both Korn and Disturbed are dead to me. They've both seemed to have sold out. It's kinda sad.

But then again, that happens to all bands.

(Or most)

...they were never any good to begin with.
Jaganshi
My musical tastes were different back then. When I go back to listen to their old CDs, they don't seem to be as good as what I first thought them to be, but I still don't think that they were bad or anything. Just not something that I would pick up in a store today.
