ok i just registared on these forums a moment ago, so excuse the lack of fancy avatars and sigs
Anyway i'd thought i chime in w/ my two cents here. I love this series more than most other anime films/series. The ending, however, left me with mixed feelings. The animators set up a lot of different plot lines and left themselves with little time to resolve it all. To me, the series felt like it was just beginning around episode 45 or 46 where we learn the truth about Hohenheim, Dante, and the Homuncouli. Like i finally understood everything, and i was ready to watch the next 10 or 20 episodes. But, then it all comes to an end, and a rather unfinished one at that. So heres a few questions
Dante and Guttony are both dead?
Envy is where exactly?
Wrath is like a hobo now i guess, whats the deal there?
Al has no memory of the last 4 years, yet chezka asks if any of those memories have returned. Could this be hinting at his memory coming back eventually?
Is Hohenheim trying to rediscover alchemy in that world now...i thought he was glad to be free of it?
I haven't watched the subs for this show, and am yet to see the movie, but i do have all of them in my possession now. So, maybe i can answer some of these questions for myself after watching the movie.
Concerning the ending:
1 After all they went through, all the peoplel they met, time they shared, and lives they changed, Ed and Al become separated!!!!!!!!!
Sure Als alive now, but all of the last 4 years were the most important in his life, and thats been taken away from him. And edward is stranded in the other world. Its nice that hes with his father ( perhaps they can bond now) But he isn't even positive that what he did worked, and he has no idea what happened after he left through the gate. Sure it was a happy ending for us as the viewer, but ed doesn't know that the military gave control of the counrty back to the people, or that the ishballans are finally free. I feel really sad about the whole situation. I watched these 2 go through sooo much pain, and i all i wanted was for them to be together and happy at the end.
2. I always hoped that Winry and Edward would eventually be together, and it seems as though that will never happen now.........*tear*, poor winry. You guys have to feel really bad for her. She lost edward to the gate, and the al she knew the last 4 years was "replaced" with a new al. My sympathies are with you Winry
3.On a brighter note, i loved seeing rizza/roy together. I always hoped that would happen since early episodes. The scene at the end with those 2 and the little doggy was very touching.
Over all this series is incredible. I'm a very critical person when it comes to anime, music , and books, so for me to say that this is one of favorite stories across all types of mediums means a lot.
I may have not felt happy with all the of the ending, but is it not the journey sometimes that most important, not where it ends? guess that was more then 2 cents ...more like a dollar-fifty or so.....
