MegaCon: Fullmetal Alchemist Movie Licensed (2006-02-25 22:43:15)FUNimation announced at MegaCon this weekend that they have acquired the license to the feature-length animated film Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shambala. No further details are available at this time.

REJOICE!

It also looks like the schedule for DVD release of the series is being upped so that volume 13 comes out at the same time as the Movie.. IN OCTOBER.

Hmmm two things:

1) this wasn't a double post

2) It also relates to the US DVD releases of the FMA series. Since starting August it will be monthly releases till October.

And it looks like Conqueror will be getting a US theatrical release as well.

Does this mean it'll be released in theaters or go straight to DVD? Did they specify?

Which also means the OAV will come sooner than expected.

Cool news! I'll definitely be in the theatre on opening night. What's extra cool, at least for me, is that it will probably be playing in a smaller, art house theatre, which can be an amazing experience. I remember seeing the Cowboy Bebop movie at the Music Box theatre in Chicago. It's this little old movie palace type place. Before and after movies, they play music for the audience on an old organ that rises up in front of the screen. At the end of Bebop, the organist was even playing along with the music of the ending credits. Much cooler than any DVD!

actually, it's garunteed that this movie will see a theatrical release. starting march 17, with the 12th DBZ movie, Fusion Reborn, funiamtion will be releasing anime in theatres nationwide! here's the link to their site: funimationfilms.com

i've also heard that they're planning something really big for the opening day of this movie. i know at the release in japan, l'arc~en~ciel performed. could something simialr happen here in the US?!
