Very good episode at the end... one thing that bugs me though, at the end when Ed evaporates Sloth, Whinry is standing out in the corner of the warehouse. When she sees ed kill her, she starts to smile! What she want Ed to kill his dead-reborn-deadagain Mother?!?!? huh.gif

You have to give tucker a fraction of a credit in this episode... he showed that the Stone DID have equivilency after all...

I couldn't stand this episode. The only thing I liked about it was Wrath.

I found Ed and Al to be whiny, and Lust and Sloth to be equally whiny. I don't get why people say they hate Wrath because he's too whiny. Most of the characters in this are just as whiny, if not more so, then Wrath. They just don't shout as much as he does.

Anyway, I don't like anime Lust. She's way too angsty. And where's the "lust" in her? She seems more exhausted than Sloth.......sad to say, but much as I liked Lust in the beginning of the anime and I do in the manga, I was relieved to see Wrath off her in this episode.

I don't really find most of the humunculis' "sad stories" that sad. I can't feel that sorry for people who are immortal and strong, who just complain about existing/not existing/anything they can. I just want to say to them, oh quit complaining and LIVE!

I can't stand the graphic scenes of the humunculis vomiting the Philosopher's Stone pieces either. Totally unnecessary.

Most of the characters in this series seem so miserable, I wonder why they care about anything.

So the only part I liked all, was Wrath. He was so adorable trying to protect "mommy" Sloth. I don't get how anyone can hate such an adorable kid. biggrin.gif

FMA manga is so far SO much better. I love the Lust and Envy incarnations there, not so fond of them in the anime at all.

Now, what's the deal with Winry at the end? Seemed out of place.

Actually, it's not, but I don't want to spoil the next episode.

*Notices the angry mob storming the castle, err...warehouse. Overhears, "Do what you will with the rest, but the beast is MINE!" "No, he's MINE!" "MINE!"*

Whatever. I'm only worrying about protecting Frank Archer, so no bother to me. We have to protect our local madmen. If we don't, who will?
Not quite sure how is death is supposedly ironic, but anyway...
Good episode, although if it was the first I had ever seen, I'd have been sorely confused. Almost everything I'd hoped it to be. Also got to see some of the stories behind the Homunculi.

Sloth is gone; there's one less vacancy in Hell. Greed and Lust are down there too, I might think (One act of selflessness doesn't make a saint out of a sinner), but a somewhat less horrible part of it (Just read Dante's Inferno. Don't jibe me).

EDIT: Actually, according to Dante, The Levels are Limbo, The Lustful, The Gluttonous, The Greedy, the Wrathful AND Slothful (Hmmm...), the Heretics, the Violent, the Knowningly Evil, and the Treasonous. Soo...Lust and Greed still got it better than Sloth.

Another episode aired, four to go.

Awesome episode. It made me cry, for like the Sloth part where she remembers everything and when she saw Ed when they tried to resurect her. It was kind of sad when she said that they where happy but at the same part very sad. As much as I like Hohenheim, it kind of was his foult that Trisha died. But funny since I canīt see him as a bad guy.

We are going to miss Lust. For me, she seemed like the one who wanted to be human more than anything else of all humuculus. And she seemed like the one who was sadder af all. But Sloth seemed pretty sad about it too. If Lust had to die, why it had to be in hands of Wrath? And all he was telling to her it was really hurtful. All the stuff that she wanted to become human so she could die.If Iwas a murderer I would have taken his trout and squeeze it thightly... too bad I am not one.

And Wrath really is a fool. He wanted to protect Sloth because he thought she was him īmommyī but all he did was make it worst. She canīt even move now. If he really wanted to protect her, he shouldīve think twice before he fusionated with her with her weakness inside of him. I thought that Ed was going to seal them both together since now they are one humonculus. But Ed stil doesnīt have the weakness of wrath. How is he going to seal him?

And whatīs up with Tucker? How dare he ask Al to try the Nina Transmutation again after what he did to him? Hadnīt he realize that you canīt bring the death back to life? Iīm part of the Anti-Tucker angry mob and we wonīt rest until Tucker is death for good.

And what about Winry at the end of the episode? Wasnīt she in Rizenbool? How did she got there so fast? Is she Envy in disguise? Weīll haveto wait ītill next episode to know it.

Read the Manga. The revenge you seek lies within it's pages, albeit Tucker is even more monstrous (at least he seems regretful in the Anime. Manga Tucker has no regrets to his morally ambigious deeds, and even goes out of his way tp try and justify his actions).

Thanks fot telling me Nepharski, but I already read the manga up to chapter 55. I was talking about the anime. Itīs because I really donīt like Tucker.

O_O..wwoooooww, VeRy interesting episode, VeRy GOOOD episode! and partly scary when wrath and his momma and i think nina, they were all naked! lol good god!...dont wanna see them naked again! That wouldve been awesome if ed or al was naked, LoL! happy.gif...anyways, wrath needs to die!! he needed to die along with sloth and lust, but i like lust. She shouldn't have died, that was really messed up. Tucker really wants his daughter to be alive with a soul...i dont blame him, but still he should'nt have turned her into a chimera in the first place so he would'nt have to worry about bringing her back to life and he wouldn't have to go through all of this for nina, *sigh* oh well. I feel sorry for Tucker, but he is still a bastard, lol. Edward did his thing, he got it going on! lol Al should've just let Ed do what he had to do or w/e to kill sloth, but it doesnt matter now, sloth is gone. I got confused if Sloth was their mother or not. I know she is a homuculus and she was created by ed and al, i think, so does that mean that sloth is their mother?? ....i dont know, its confusing....it looked like winry was happy ( i guess )at the ending, when she watching them, but i dont think that was winry...i cant wait for the next episode! it looks VeRy GoOoOd, but sad. "Goodbye"..thats the name of the next episode. I wonder who Ed is saying goodbye to or w/e, i think thats what he was saying in the previews for the next episode, but yeah it looks good, hehe, like every other episode is GoOoD, lol. I know i enjoyed this episode(episode 47) and i know that i will enjoy the next one(episode 48)! happy.gif

You know, if you think about it, in a sort of round about way, Sloth is Wrath's mother... kind of.

Wrath has two of Ed's llimbs. Ed is Trisha Elric's son. Sloth is a homunculi made in the form of Trisha Elric (with some memories from her). Since part of Wrath is a son of Trisha Elric and Sloth is made from Trisha Elric, Wrath is sort of a child of Sloth.

Alchemy makes things really confusing sometimes... most of the time really.

The_Oneiromancer
Hello everyone,

I just joined, mostly because I've been watching the series for a while and recently the episodes make me wanna pop if I can't discuss them with someone! smile.gif I haven't read all the pages posted since I did see some labeled with spoiler warning. I will say this, I was really sad to see Lust die, mostly because I felt she was the only Homonculus that seemed to grow any or at least change from a mindless drone as the series progressed. If any of them deserved a chance at life again, it was she. But perhaps she would not have been able to live with some of the things she did in her past, and would prefer it end this way. I didn't immediately get it, but then realized that "Winry" could only be Envy. You don't see him pretending to be someone for a few episodes and forget all about him. I also believe that we haven't seen the end of Honeheim, it just doesn't make sense that someone that I think was probably more powerful than Dante, would simply get taken out that easily. I of course could be wrong, glad that Sloth is done, just wish that annoying Wrath would go with her, can't wait to see him lose those borrowed limbs, we'll see how well he does when he lacks the ability to do alchemy as well. Well, I guess it's back to clock watching until Saturday rolls around again. Oh, two questions, I heard there is a movie coming out this year, is that post series material? or some attempt to squeeze 51 episodes into 2 hours? Also is there a DVD boxed set? I see they have the DVD's out, but wouild prefer a box set for the extras and space saving size they usually are.
Nepharski
Welcome aboard, Oneiromancer.

There are 51 episodes, of which 47 have now aired on U.S. shores. Every 4 episodes is packaged and sold separately, though you can buy a specifically designed box tin to hold them in for order purposes.

Aside from the 13 volumes (containing 51 episodes), there is also a Fullmetal Alchemist movie, which has been released in Japan and is rumored to translate into English sometime later this year (Theatrical release questionable), and there is also an OAV coming to Japan in March (And us much, muich later), containing four mini-movies in relation with the series, one of which is a brief movie called The Seven Homunculi vs. the State Military, and another of which is a Chibi-themed afterparty of the movie (The other two films remain unknown).

There is also an unnoficial 52 ("Reflections") episode to the series, but it serves as nothing more than a recap with a few extra images and lines not present in the series. Last I checked, it's fan made, so nothing official.

oh yaaaaaaaaay i loved this episode!!!!! it was soooo bittersweet! ;_; i loved it, but why oh why did Lust have to die! and i feel bad for sloth but just by a tinge v_v and most of all i felt bad for Lust. why dose all the homunculi that finally turn good have to die ;_; well besides Sloth, and how could she use Aru-kun against Edo-kun! that was to much >< oh and Shou is even more crazy then the last time, Sloth should have killed him when he had the chance >_> overall i loved this episode even with the deaths sad.gif and i can't wait till next saturday ^^ i get all giddy just thinking about it laugh.gif
Winry Elric
I really liked this episode^^ I thought it was so adorable when Wrath said mommy*hugs Wrath* so cute^^

I hate that Lust had to die though and by Wrath tooT_T

But right when Wrath fused that whatever thing to defeat Sloth in him I knew he'd just ending hugging her or something stupid and it just weaken her and then goodbye Sloth. Me and my little brother actually laughed our heads off when he fused himself and her. That was stupid LOL^^ But I still love him anyway(I'm weird like that)^^

YAY! 47 episodes down, 4 to go! ARGH! would Saturday please just get here! LOL biggrin.gif

Wow. Just...wow. I think this has become my favorite episode, Sloth and Lust being the highlights for me. (So sad to see them both go.)

Surprised at how many people apparently didn't instantly get the Winry bit. It has to be Envy, the smile clinched it. (Real Winry would never smile at seeing her best friend about to kill the one that was supposed to be his mother, and during the attempt to make her so, got himself and his brother crippled, and then go on such a dangerous adventure to restore their bodies, leaving her behind and all worried.)

Also surprised at how people can hate Wrath; I mean, there are actually valid reasons--if he hurts one's favorite character, that is cause enough to hate him. And yet...and yet I just find him a very pitiable character; dying at a young age is tragic enough, but then being resurrected and banished to some dark realm--I love Izumi. But...she is right in her guilt; I can't say that sending Wrath to the Gate was right. (Personal perception of the Gate: looks scary as hell.)

Another thing, I don't think Sloth should be hated so badly, find her very sad too; a little mad for Ed screaming all those harsh things at her, and even some of those to Wrath...but jeez, I need to give him a break, he IS under a lot of stress.

So much love for 47, can't wait until it's on DVD.

This episode ruled, I loved the part where Lust was fighting Wrath and it goes to the side view of Lust slashing with all her claws. That was so damn cool, she looked like a damn vampire or something, amazing. I'm really looking forward to these last episodes. And is it just me or does anyone else like to japanese voices better? Please keep in mind that I am by no means saying that I dislike the english dub, in fact I think it is really really good.

And also I'm joining up with the SAVE TUCKER MOVEMENT! We will save him, this show needs more comic relief at this point, and tucker provides that(at least visually, that crazy donkey/monkey/grizzly bear/upsidedown face guy he looks so darn harmless) Nuts to all you tucker haters.

@The_Oneiromancer, welcome to the board!!
Just adding to what Nepharski had posted..
The FMA movie is considered as kind of capter 52, since the movie provides the conclusion of the series. smile.gif

This episode was totally awsome!!
All that fighting scenes, and situation changing constantly with Ed, Al, Wrath, Lust, and Sloth interacting each other, it was very entertaining, to say the least.

Wrath is one messed up kids.... Almost sad that him taking Sloth as a replacement mother.
(Yeah, the childhood abandonment really traumatize kids, I guess.)

Fighting scenes were awsome!! Ed vs Wrath, Lust vs Warth, Ed vs Sloth...
The scene where Ed darws two halvs of the transmutation circle, and Ed and Al put them together was cool!!
Ald, Lust looks always cool in fighting scenes, IMO!!

Lust is gone!! Sob!! I really liked her!!
Sloth is evaporating!! Yay!! tongue.gif

Interesting insights about the homunculi with memories,,,
And, interesting contrast between Lust and Sloth on how they feel about those memories.
Lust with the memory of love made her longing for becoming a human.
Sloth with her memory making her despise Ed and Al, viewing her memory as (sort of) obstacles....

Ironic that Lust got sealed by the circle Ed made for Sloth.
(Matbe this was the first time I saw Wrath activating transmutation circle, I think, not just fusing stuff to himself...)

Also, ironic that Wrath making Sloth imobile, thus giving Ed the final advantage to kill her.
(And, for a while, Sloth was surrounded by the Philosssopher Stone when she was inside Al, yet coudn't use it herself to meke her a human.)

I don't know how death feels to homuncli, but I hope Lust can find peace in her death.

Thanks for various welcomes smile.gif I was thinking further on the show last night, and it suddenly occured to me. What ever happened to Marco? After all the people that come and go and then reappear later down the road I just found it weird that one of the characters that was so instrumental in starting Ed and Al on the journey for the Philosopher's Stone has been absent for so long. Was he killed after being taken into custody? Has he been up to something all this time? Also I imagine Armstrong is going to help Roy with whatever obstacles are awaiting them up North?

sry to ask this question in a episode thread but how do you do that spoiler thingy??
Molecular Alchemist
hehe..tis ok smile.gif It's better to ask now than get in trouble later.

ok..all that you have to do is type [ spoiler ] and then write whatever it is that you wanted to write and then write [ /spoiler ] (without all the spaces that i added and that space between the "[" and the "/"

Another nifty trick that i picked up here in the forums is to type whatever you need to, and then highlight it (with your mouse) and hit the "bold " button, and then take out ONLY the "b"'s...leave the "/" and type "spoiler" where the b's were.

You may want to hit the"preview post" button for the first couple of times that you use the tags, just to make sure that you are using them right....so you don't end up accidently making someone upset happy.gif

Damn, that was intense. So much to ponder over the next week...

- Lust's end. Well, that just bites. Then again, maybe she found what she was really looking for in dying so it wasn't as sad after all.

- Greed flashback. Nice touch to the overall effect of the episode.

- Man, Ed was really kicking ass this episode. I loved his line about needing to make a
list of people whose ass to kick.

- Wrath. Damn, that kid is twisted. Ever week he becomes even more twisted. I'm almost scared to see how he turns out before the end.

- The Ed and Al interaction was really well done. I couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for Al while wanting to smack him upside the head at the same time.

- Evaporating Sloth. That seems a really slow way to end her life... and cruel, especially for Ed. After all the pain seeing her caused, you'd think he'd want something quick.

- I couldn't help a morbid laugh when the Trisha-blob was heading for Dante. Way back when that happened didn't Ed tell Al the Trisha-blob was dead? So how did it get to Dante? And without being noticed?

- And Winry? Wtf is up with that? Envy?

Envy?

Don't you wonder how nobody noticed the disappearance of the Trisha blob? The only way I figure is Ed and Al assumed Pinako got rid of it (which is what happened in the Manga) and Pinako either didn't know about it at all or figured the boys somehow got rid of it during the transmutation. Then neither side talked about it so they never knew that, in fact, it just vanished.

As for Winry, wait for the next episode, it makes perfect sense.

^^ OH that makes more sense, thanks Jedi

this episode was way intense....
and i can't believe Lust was sealed by wrath!!>..oo i hate him...
and Ed was way cool fightin and showing off...j/k...
but i loved when he said that he had so many asses to kick and
probably need a note to carry around with him so he won't forget...
also, i think it was pretty sad how he just turned Sloth into ethanol
and let her evaporate.....but what's done is done....

ABout the Trisha-blob, how the hell did Dante know it was there, does Dante have like some kind of Spidy-sense? Like "My Playing-God-sense is tingeling, Lets go!" or did I just miss something.

And also, right now I'm rewatching the series, why the hell did no one tell me that barry the chopper(or was it butcher) was a cross dresser, that was funny as hell. I guess I missed a lot more of the first half or the series than I thought I did. That half is sort of nice, it's all like, happy and hopefull, and not morbidly depressing, like these later episodes. I guess It all works according to alchemistical equilibrium, the first half is happy so in equal exchange the second half is sad, I never thought about it like that until now, cool.
Ed-Al-Win Fan
Wow! I really loved this episode, what captured me the most was the action...It was just awesome, and plus of course the emotion. Poor Lust, she kind of got her request though on being a human, well she died like one. And Wrath even though he is my fav villian, he was way out of control, and I see the name definitely suits him...And yeah Edward saying that "So many idiots..." part made me laugh, another awesome phrase. This has definitely turned into one of my favs. Tucker once again with the pleading, I think he just has to let it go,...he should stop all this crazy talk he's been going on about...its just too late now (lol). Also the part where Ed transformed his whole metal hand into some tommy-looking gun, was too neat...Never seen nothing like that before, it was interesting. The animating is awesome on this show, I love it...and once again the dubbing was excellent:)

And now about that Winry, I was a bit confused, I was wondering how the "heck did she get there?" Its a big puzzlement on my head on that one. But as you guys said, I'm sure the next episode will answer it....And yeah Sat needs to hurry up and get here, but once FMA goes off I'm not going to have anything to look forward too on Sat night...so sad lol. Anywho, I can't wait for the next episode, which I know its going to be a terrific one of course...smile.gif

From what I know from watching the series, Dante has been having her spies (homuncli) watching Ed and Al since they were very small, so Dante knew they were pretty talented Alchemists even though they were young, (and of course being Ho-ho's sons) and so after Trisha's death, and after them trained by Izumi (BTW who was Dante's apprentice,) and coming back home, (and them gethering necessary ingredients/chemical components for the human transmutation) I think it wasn't difficult for Dante to figure out what they were about to do.
And, as far as the actual timing, since their human transmutation attempt had caused quite a lighting show, I'm sure that let Dante know "it" had happened. happy.gif

@Ed-Al-Win Fan - About Winry, like others had posted,
Are you sure that was really Winry?? smile.gif
Happy to be of help. You'll like the remaining episodes. I can't wait to see the reactions of people who haven't been spoiled or watched the Japanese version!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

And as for Ed turning Sloth into ethanol, what other choice did he have? She had every intent to kill him, there wasn't going to be any live and let live thing going on. Not to mention, Wrath's arrival meant he had to act fast before it became both of them (and he had nothing to use against Wrath remember). Turning her into ethanol was actually mercy on his part. She wasn't in any pain, she would just simply evaporate. It was far better than killing her like Greed. Not to mention he really couldn't do it that way because she'd just turn that part into water and the blade would pass through. He did the only quick, merciful, thing he could do under the circumstances. Of course I'm biased, I love Ed and will always find the boy an out! smile.gif

Say what you will, but I've got Archer protected under Gieko. An expensive one, too. You so much as sneeze in his direction, and you'll have 3 or 4 Gieko Operatives pinning you down.

Damn right, Archer is untouchable. By the way I'm also joining up with the Save Archer movement, why you say, because I think the mouth gun is the best upgrade any charachter in the show has gotten. good old Robo-Archer with his mouth gun.

If anyone else caught the second showing or this episode, did yours freeze for like the last five minutes? I want to know if Comcast as a whole blows, or if it's just my area. Crappy Comcast freezing and jiving around anytime that anything I want to watch comes on. I swear nothing acts goofy with the cable anytime the girlfriend makes me sit through her lifetime sap-o-rama crap, or those dumb dating shows where it's just a bunch of broads verbally shredding eachother up, but anytime something I want to see comes on, Comcast jives the screen around, with the freezing and skipping and starts doing the crap that digital cable and satelite tv does, only thing is we have basic cable. Damn TV jiving around.

Sorry about the rant, I just hate Comcast and can't get satelite, or anything else, I wish adultswim would broadcast so that just the TV could pick it up. I can dream can't I.

@Plscks- No such problem happened on the second showing for me I believe. I only got basic cable though(and Tivo but I can't work that thing).

I knew that Comcast had something personal against me, I hate them, what with thier monopoly over basic cable. Slowly taking all the channels away and moving them to digital cable and then bumping up the price. I call to complain at them and all they do is feed me some B.S. about how the federal gov. has demanded that cable be moved to the digital cable format. I will chain myself to thier damn corporate HQ doors the day that they move Cartoon Network to digital cable and tell me I have to pay out the bum to watch fullmetal. I will be livid.

Hell yeah, Lets take down that damn Archer hater tree.
