yeah I had heard they might show the movie in theaters. Though I doubt it will make it to mine since it is so small and they don't tend to show anime movies there.

Well, I honestly have no idea, I just type "fullmetal alchemist" into Google News everyday and see what comes up, lol.

I think the source of the ToonZone story was just a general announcement of future Funi DVD releases, so I don't think there's been a specific confirmation or denial on a theatre run so far...
I liked Oct. 3 better too, lol...

Whoa, whoa, WHOA!!!! We all know that the internet is often filled with rumours and lies, right? Well, according to a fairly recent issue of Anime Insider, the set release date is October 3, 2006; it was designed that way to go with the engraving on Ed's pocket-watch! The Funimation website didn't have anything posted about a change - perhaps that "Toon" website just had it's information wrong - anyhow, they said from the beginning that there probably would not be a theatrical release... and think about it - there's going to be 13 DVDs total, and they said that the last one would be released the same day as the movie's DVD - one DVD of the series every other month. Next one is coming out in June - number 10. Now count with me: #10 in June, skip July, #11 in August, skip September, and then, lo and behold, #13 in October. Basically, this "Toon" website is bunk. Someone find this for me on the official Funimation site, then I'll believe you!

Well, ToonZone's source was
AnimeOnDvd, and their source was Right Stuf, who currently list
Vol. 13 (Brotherhood) and
the movie with 9/26 release dates. I couldn't see where they got their info from, but combined with Vic's claim of a September release date, it certainly seems plausible. I don't have any dog in this fight, I just want to know when they're coming out.

Also, the official Funimation FMA site hasn't even been updated to reflect the fact that Vol. 9 is out...

So, I just read on some other forum that the English version of The Conqueror of Shambala is coming to the USA September 16,2006.
I wondered if anyone can confirm that or provide any other information? I read an interview with Vic M. (voice of Ed) and he said he didn't think the movie would come to the US translated until the entire DVD volumes are out and I think there are about 13? And the 7th one just came out Jan 10 2006, and Caitlin Glass (Winry's voice) said they come out at a rate about every 10 weeks or so? So, yeah, just wondered if anyone knows...
#I've been looking all over for confirmed information too. This just landed in my email inbox sometime last night. It was originally posted to the FMA movie board in the FMA forums on the FF.net website:

Hello Everyone!
I got a good scoop on what's going on with the DVD release of the movie.
I was on my wholesaler's web site and they have a pre-order up for it.
There is a normal edition for 29.98 and a special edition for 49.98. The
release date is 9/26/06. According to the information the theater
release is also in September (which conflicts info people have found out
at conventions). Anyone can view the web site.

Amazon.com has the regular version of the movie being released on the same day as the 13th DVD, September 12th, with the Special edition coming in November sometime. I found the same info on Bestbuy.com. Since that is a Tuesday, the day DVD's are usually released, it makes sense.

Wow, I love the American preview for the movie. I have to admit that it looks so much better digitally mastered than watching the boot-legged version on youtube. I'm surprised that it is showing in that many theatres in America. I doubt that it will every show in a theatre where I live.

The song if called Kelas (Let Us Dance). It plays at the beggining of the film where the Roma are singing and at Heiderich's funeral. The song is composed by the Hungarian guitarist Ferenc Snetberger.

I saw the premiere at Otakon 2006 on Friday... and watched it again on Saturday (with a Roy w/eye patch plush this time).
They said it would be in select theatres at the end of August and come out on DVD in September.
That said... the movie was awesome in English (had already seen it in Japanese) and the audience at Otakon loved it. The premiere group flailed a lot more than the 2nd showing (since I think they were looking forward to Hellsing, or some Naruto thing that they THOUGHT was showing, but it ended up being FMA again instead, HOORAY!). Everyone cheered when certain characters came on-screen, laughed, awed and flailed when Lost Heaven played.
They announced that a special edition WILL be released later, so you may end up better of waiting, or buying both versions. No news on what is on the special version though. FUNimation and Jean Havoc are attempting to get rights to do OVA's in English too.
