Full Version: Should Adultswim Air Fma Movie After The Series?
Fullmetal Alchemist Discussion Board > Fullmetal Alchemist Discussions > Fullmetal Alchemist Anime (FMA-1) > English Dub episodes (on Adult Swim)

<Closing the thread because by now we all know Adult Swim did NOT air the movie after the episode 51. 02/21/07 ~Tombow>

IMO, they going to finish the series sooner or later. If they did, should they air FMA Movie in Adult Swim?
Dreakon
Of course! I hope they do. They aired the Bebop movie and the Inuyasha ones, why not FMA? smile.gif Gotta be dubbed first tho.
Sleeping Forest
of course!! why shouldn't they?!?
TheVileOne
Well it won't happen until the series is finished, which will be well into 2006, and the movie has been dubbed. That might not be for a while either.
FullMetalAlchemist01FAN
they should! the movie better air on Adult Swim! ....or else! MWAHAHAHAHA! lol happy.gif'

Well... taking into account the christmas delay and they'll probably have some other delay in the future... I'd say the series will end around April. If they do alot of delays maybe early May. Either way I wouldn't get my hopes up for the movie airing soon after. Look how long it took them to air the Cowboy Bebop movie. I mean the thing was on DVD in the US for a few years before they aired it. Hopefully it wont take that long, but I would say that having it air before the end of 2006 would be best case scenario and a slim chance.

Should they? Of course. Who's really going to vote no... No really I want to see how many people vote no.
Wyrd_Raven
Time is a factor to consider here. Conqueror of Shambalah is right now probably the eye of a massive dubbing rights storm. Especially since it has become a popular series stateside. I wouldn't be suprised to see Coloumbia Tristar Pictures try to secure the rights like they did with Bebop.

Then comes the problem of making it a theatrical release or not. If they do this it will be delayed further as whichever company gets a hold of it will want to give it proper movie release time. More than likely it will hit DVD shelves before TV. When it does hit TV people will watch oh yes... they will.
Nepharski
The problem with a theatrical release is that the movie requires quite some knowledge of the series. Series fans would flock to it, of course, but what about other people? unwitting family members, friends, or just people checking out the moive. We'd need some sort of manditory explanation of events in the series.

Regardless, they must show it on television.

It's a bit different in Japan, where animation is highly revered and a majority of the population is knowledgable already to it.

I definantly think that they should air this on adult swim. Because if they dont air it there I wouldnt know the [or I might not have the] channel they would be airing it at.

yeah i know thats right!

but if they air the movie during the series, then that wouldnt make any sense! that would suck if they did do that tho.
the_lightning_alchemist10
Of course they should air it!! i mean how else am i gonna record it lol! seriously I have no paycheck (not old enough), my parents hate anime (i know they suck), and the only time they would get it for would for my b-day, x-mass, hannackah (sp?), and with my luck it'll b out way off those dates (it'd b tortue walkin to a store and seeing it and it's not in my possesion). So i need this to be TV. Plus since a lot of ppl stay up late on Saturday nights, it'll draw in more viewers. So then my family might get intrested (hey I can dream can't i?).

I agree that the movie would make more sense to those who have watched the series and confuse the other, this is the same thing that occured with Serenity for the Firefly series but the problem comes from the question are the fans going to come to the showing? As for a mandatory explanation, they could possibly shown the OVA recap I heard of FMA somewhere out there in the ether.

According to Funimation, they have first look at all the FMA anime including video game, series, movies, etc. So they get first crack at the movie...according to them.

However, another studio like Sony could come on as a possible distributor.

Yes, plain and simple.

No they shouldn't...all of North America (and whoever else gets AS) should be left in the dark and those who were following the series on AS should never know how it ends! hehe..just kidding. Of course they should play it...it would be a crime against humanity if they didn't! happy.gif No one should start something and then leave it unfinished..and that goes for AS too! (ha..made you think I was gonna vote no, didn't I?)
Anime-Kat2002
I think they should air the movie. They have aired movies of other animes so why not this one?
Tombow
I hope they would get the rights, and air the movie on AS.
And, hopefully, soon after the conclusion of the series.
I'm crossing my fingers!! happy.gif

Is this a trick question????

Anyway, re: a theatrical release, I can't find the article at this moment, but if I do, I'll refer you to it. Apparently, such talks are already in progress, so those of us on this side o' the pond may get to see this one on the 'big screen' yet.

Yay! biggrin.gif
Taskinst
Even though i have seen the movie biggrin.gif it would be nice to see it in english............ so my answer is HELL YEA!!!!!
Nepharski
From the tidbits I've been getting, it would seem a 2006 release if very likely, but no specification of where within those 365 days it will appear. As long as it comes state side, theater or not, I'll be content. Still, it somewhat lacks the stand-alone appeal that most American movies demand. I mean, the movie only makes sense in context with the series. First time watchers will have no idea what's going on. Professional critics will comndemn it for not making sense, thus driving away more people. If it did launch in a cinema near you, it's benefit would be mainly for the fans only, and could be considered an economic failure.
Crystalix
Actually I hope that Funi doesn't allow it to be aired on Adult Swim, because AS will just edit lots of parts out of the movie. (If you have seen the movie, you will understand. There are some violent scenes much worse than Basque Gran's death and even that was edited.)
andricon-alchemist
I think one of these days, they will. I wouldn't hold my breathe on it though.
Like everyone else said.. it has to get dubbed and righted, and whether or not it'll be a theatrical release.
( I would assume a "limited" theatrical release.. When the Cowboy BeBop movie came out, I only knew
of one theatre in the Baltimore area playing it.)
I'm getting all jittery wanting to see this movie.. because I love me some FMA.
-whines-
But I would imangine ... it'll be roughly about a year until it'll come out here.

my thoughts exactly. noy only that but this says there's "nudity" and such so yeah mostof it probly would get edited out sad.gif
*~Oashisu*~
Hmm, well, I voted yes. It would be nice to see it air on AS. But, as Crystalix stated, by the time they're done editing it, it might not be worth watching it, and might be better to just buy the DVD or see it in theaters. (That is, if it hits theaters)
joletaro
I think they should, because the anime deserve it.
Every cartoon have their movie/movies and they r presented on tv, so
if FMA have a movie, this should be presented.

If memory serves, the "nudity" is nothing worse than when the originally found Wrath on Yok island, and it's not gratuitious.
fMa_nv92
UMM....WELLL....HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!....
They SHOULD!!!!!....because it continues right from the series...so, uh...duh!...
I mean they gotta, and if they do(which they should!)I'll be there to record it!....
But it probably won't happen for awhile because...they didn't even air all the
episodes yet....

So....AD better or should air the FMA movie....
MasterKris
They don't, I'll sue.
Hey, if the Yu-Gi-Oh movie was released in theaters, shouldn't at least the FMA movie be aired?? (they aired Inuyasha the movie)

p.s.Who voted no?
Ektor
There is only 6 or 7 episodes left and I don't belive that they will have the movie dubbed in about a month and a half. But, yeah, they should play it along with the other InuYasha movies that they haven't shown
fmafan16
yes, once they finish the series, they should show the movie, mainly because I haven't seen it yet.
Melydragon
Yes, my God!!!!! They HAVE to. I mean, it wouldnīt be fair. Okay, they aired the two movies of Inuyasha and the movie of Escouflown or whatever is spelled. Do the guys from Adult Swim know what the raiting will be?

Come on.

I havenīt seen the movie yet, but if they put it on the theaters Iīm so going. First in line.

BrgdrGnrlHayz
Hell yes they should if not im killing someone darn it
transmuted_soul
It definitely deserves the theaters, it's that good. In actual rating terms it would most likely get a pg-13, there are a few moments...
