Linkin Park: Great if you're a douchebag. An atrocity against humanity if you're anything else.
I've always loved how narrow-minded you are
Please don't equate the rejection of the sub-mediocre with narrow-mindedness. I dislike them because they are a blight on an already diseased music industry, not because of some artificial reason.

Linkin Park may not be that great, but I still like them. And hell, not everyone starts off with what you consider good rock music. Perhaps not even you yourself. I, for example, started listening to rock after I started liking bands like LP, Green Day and AC/DC. I don't like them as much as I do now and I listen to more unique stuff now, but it is what gave me the boot to start.

Haha, they are not pop. They are more like rock/rap. If you listened to their lyrics, you would know that none of their songs are "up beat".

How else would you categorize them then.. they are not pure rap, and not pop. They are rock-rap. You can't just shove bands in a different genre just because you feel like it. The only subgenres of rock that I don't really consider rock are emo and screamo *which is simply an atrocity, not even music*.

Carnal Malefactor
Dec 16 2005, 12:09 PM
Because they're a bunch of 30-year-old men playing uninspired, derivative music with lyrics that were most likely lifted from the poetry of a depressed 14-year-old girl. Their attempts to combine rock and hip hop don't sound like hip hop, and sound even less like rock, putting them in a no-man's-land of pseudo-music that's less about actual music and more about image, which reeks of insincere, shallow commercialism. They're absolutely soulless and bogus, and I doubt anyone will even remember they existed in a couple of years.
But hey, if you like them, more power to ya.

Addendum: Holy crap! I actually managed to make it through a Linkin Park album without getting violently ill. Barely, though... I could feel the vomit rising in my throat by the time I got near the end of the album. Wow... that is just dreadful, horrible shit. How can anyone even consider this rock? This is like Vanilla Ice with background guitars. It's 3rd-rate commercial hip hop for suburban white kids who want to rebel against their parents, but lack the balls to do it with any conviction. If you like this band and have paid for anything they have released, SHAME ON YOU! SHAME ON YOU for supporting the further watering-down of American music.

. . . . . I dislike your impotent ways. The ways that you utterly and ingeneously use your vocabulary to completely humiliate an innocent soul and a simple style of music. A large vocabulary is basically based on the non-ignorant type of person. You don't need a specific type of intellect to completely understand how to complete a simple sentence. If you don't know how to visually comprehend these words, it's too bad that you can't talk anything about "music rotting my brain" . . .

Don't misunderstand, I'm just trying to promote one band at the expense of another.

Plus, I think enjoying Linkin Park is something people will ultimately grow out of. We all go through our stages of liking crappy manufactured music. I wasn't born listening to Mercyful Fate, either. But as I grew older and discovered better stuff to listen to, I inevitably lost interest in the crap I liked before.
