-behind the gate, ed dies because a zeppelin crushes into him.
I think we could keep a hope that he could be saved somehow,
for example, Hohenheim, in London, will save "Ed-like" guy
so soul of Edward can go to the other side of the gate again...
from this reason, I guess "Ed -in London" didn't die.
um.. lying under a zeppelin.. and above ed, the zeppelin parts crush and fall down on him... and ed even said that "people who die behind the gate go to the other side of the gate". so I think "nope".
maybe the endless love of roza will ressurect him.. would be kinda odd, winry should be the reason >_<

I love Ed. I love him so much it's shameful. However, I saw this coming... although I always figured he'd die in order to restore Al. T_T.;;
All I can say is, Al better have a happy ending. Whether or not Ed comes back... Al really deserves a happy ending. ;_;.

I have less confidence with my opinion, just an example.
With a normal interpretation, london ed must die in such situation.
but then Hoheimheim cannot do anything more. I (want to) believe Hohenheim will do something to save his son. because he deeply loves Trisha and her son.
He mentioned "there is no equivalent exchange relation with parents' love. parents never expect to get anything from giving love to their children"..
and I can agree with your expect, also.

First let's not be biased by Netbare's rough translations. The fully detailed ones (as in the ones obtained by Funimation from Bones for the DVD scripts) would perhaps explain better.
However I'm going to comment on what is easily seen in ep50.
CRAP graphics at times, especially in that concert hall!!!
Look at Envy's various forms. Hughes was the worst! Big head, tiny hands (even if you take into account his hands was 'thrusting' towards you), weird positions.
Then Envy can destory floors but cannot even knock off Ed's head whom he hates so much or squish Wrath who was seriously distrubing him then. Now he can even get Hughe's metal blades from nowhere (tell me where he stored them on his original body in the first place).
The amazing scene is that a mindless hungry gluttony can stop moving towards alphonse when all he cared about then was to slowly move towards al to eat him, just to watch envy and ed fight.
of course now, terminarcher can stand up against thousands of bullets and grenades (taking only little damage) when he turned tail and ran away from soldiers in the previous episode...

But ressurection isn't possible in the FMA world. Incase you haven't noticed, Scar basically said word for word one of the most major themes of this anime: "The dead stay dead." Human transmutation will never work because nothing can equate for the soul because the soul doesn't exist anymore after you die. When Ed attached Al to the armor, he said that he "traded his arm for the
fading soul of his brother."

Oh wow. That episode was jaw-droppingly awesome.

So much better than the WTF-are-they-doing feeling of episode 49.
Seriously, I know everybody is depressed and down from Ed's death, but if you put aside your feelings, it was awesome. Lots of revelations (that we already guessed anyway)
Woo, they fooled us good. Everybody was guessing who was going to die in the episode titled "Death". Will it be Al? Roy? Riza? Can't be the guy on the movie poster.

Nice work.
I know this won't go over well, but really they should just stop the series now. Forget episode 51. It would be so fitting. An abrupt ending just like Ed's death. And it doesn't matter what comes next since Ed wouldn't find out what happens either because he's dead. Bones, don't you screw it up in 51!!!
So why do Homonculus keep their remains close to them? That's clearly the Furher's remains in his safe. Greed did the same thing. Is it some sort of sentimentality?
Next, nobody seems to be talking about the whole Hohenheim talking to Ed about Trisha stuff. (I guess that's second class news compared to the Envy revelation). It seemed easy enough to understand, but .. not 100% sure

So Hohenheim left to look for medicine for his body?
Finally, what's the deal with that mushroom cloud?

I think the "if you die, you go beyond the door" thing (if it is true, which is doubtful) would only apply to you if you've seen the door and know the "truth."
