The Gate looks like a simple rectangular slab of stone with the Tree of Life on it instead of some grotesque door with a big eye and statuettes around it.
Gosh we can talk about how much the anime totally uses the manga.
NOT!!! The anime does not follow the manga anymore and most of the anime's stuff now contradicts its original source and itself.
well of course the anime has differences... if you read the manga then you already know the story line and watching the anime is pointless. They put in the changes because when you read the manga then watch the anime you say "ahh i know whats gonna happen." but then something else happens.
The point I'm making is that Someone tried to use what is going on in the manga as his futile attempt to explain things. The manga is way different from the anime and should not, no... cannot be used to explain the anime because the two don't tally anymore once we were past somewhere in the middle of the season. What happens in the manga at this time or revealed facts are not the anime's facts. Do the anime homunculus have the philosopher's stones as their cores? No.
I look to Shrimpusmaximus and What? No Bacon for their attempts to explain the anime as is. At least they are trying to
reason out the creation Bones is giving us, and not like someonw who's just desperately trying to find anything to claim as the reason even when it doesn't apply to the problem.

Dude, you're taking the response too far. All the manga comparer was trying to do was point out that Envy doesn't have to be limited to human form. Maybe siting the manga was a bad choice, but remember, the two started out moving together along the same path. So, certain parts of the manga are still valid as points for the anime.
I gotta agree with the second guest, though. This arguing is just ridiculous, particularly when there are those who completely mock others' ideas. Its an FMA community, please try to be civil, guests.

The only thing I'm worried about.... Is a satisfying ending... Like, will the final episode have the answer to EVERY question of alchemy, and will ALL the bad guys die, and will there be any plot twists? Or are they just saving it for the movie...

Citing the manga at this point for reasons is a bad choice. Even if you have a pair of identical twins, John(manga) and Jack(anime). You cannot use John's personality or circumstances to explain for Jack's actions or motivations, unless they act and think the same all the time. At this point of time, the anime's version of Envy is already different from the manga version of Envy (ever since from that episode in the 5th lab where Envy starts spewing that 'blood of that person' nonsense)

I re-watched the episode, so should you. When...
Envy turns into Hughes the knives form from his fingers. Envy can immitate anyone and probably anything. If you look the defenition up for Envy it might shine some light ont he subject. I won't compare the manga and anime, Guest. But rewatch the episodes, unlike hughes Envy does not pull the knives out form his...belt?...They form from his fingers, just another part of his powers.
And if you think about it techniqually all of the sins should be betraying their creaters anyway. They represent a sin, somehting that is pure evil and selfish. Envy should be jealous of his creators power, Lust should Lust for more then just following someone, Gluttony should hunger for power and so on. So if you want to keep spewing technicality at me go ahead, but I will be disproveing everything you say with ease...stupid Guest >__>

You know, I really can't help but think this will end with Central collapsing on the hidden city, thus crushing the homunculi and Dante. That would definitely leave an opening for the movie, but I can't help but think that would be too easy an opening. What do you guys think?

It would be an interesting ending. I think Envy would try to protect Dante. Even though he hates his father never once does Envy mention his mother...and she is always by his side.
But I hope the ending is better. I want to see Dante dead and hopefully retribution for the Homunculus...it would be cheesy but neet if Al(or Ed if somehow he can survive)open the gate and send all of the Homunculus through and they show a scene of them happily living on the other side of the gate(after all they aren't evil, they are only being manioulated by that b**** Dante...I hate her!).
If Dante dies I will be happy, that is all I am asking for in the final episode, lol.

You are the one who should rewatch your episodes again and again and again. Hughes pulling them from his belt? So you wear your belt on your wrists? He shoots out the blades from within the sleeves into his palm in a flash. Go watch all your episodes again, specifically the hijacked train episode and the episode he got killed.
And rewatch episode 50 as well. When Envy pulls out the knives, it is from sleeves. The sound effect is there. What idiocy, making knives from his fing.....
Oh I forgot.... you are watching the series where you say Greed makes his shield from calcium and turns to black pieces when he died.. I didn't know there is another version of FMA so differenet from the one we are watching... Say does anyone knows which version of FMA this so-called virtue is watching?

Huh? Envy cannot use alchemy. Homunculi can only use "alchemy" if it involves their very specific special abilities; for example, Greed can generate his carbon shield. I think that the anime is going slightly nuts with Envy's ability, especially when he turns his arm into that point in episode 50. If he could really do that sort of thing, Envy would show off way more. In the manga, we have only seem him turn into people (with uniforms and pins and things, but whatever) and a dog. He gets beaten up by a girl because his ability is not really
that amazing. He has to run away with his tail between his legs because, no, he can't turn his arm into a spear and skewer his adversaries.
When he turns into Maria Ross, I assume he got the gun beforehand, since it stays with him when he turns into Gracia.

The only Homunculus who can use Alchemy is Wrath, and that's only because of Ed's arm and leg, and even then, we're having some issues understanding Wrath's power:

I thought everything in this anime was pretty plothole proof except.. Just where do they get the energy to transmute objects? it seems like they can just do it out of thin air... Fix a radio back up, make a sword out of some iron/metal in the ground, light a fire.. And all you need is a circle.
Well, 50 answered my question. Looks like the actual energy of the transmutation to receive the alchemized end product comes from human souls on the other side of the Gate.
Man I love this anime.
As for the person that said whoever dies in the world of FMA goes on over to our world, I think we can pretty much rule that out as a possibility. Then there would be no energy for alchemy in the first place, and energy for alchemy exists because in our world, people die by the billions (all those wars).

Man Suigy you just don't give up. It takes commitment to be this clueless.
About the homunculi not being able to use alchemy, they can't. The difference between what wrath does and what envy does is very simple. Wrath can integrate external matierial into himself. Envy can alter his internal structure to suit him. THus while wrath can't take on a persons visage envy can and while envy can't absorb guns into himself wrath can.

No kidding. There was this show in the U.S. in the 70's or 80's, don't remember quite when. Anyway, it was incredibly popular, and then they ruined it in the end by saying the whole thing was a dream. Totally sucked.

What if in the first episode where Al was taken away, the soul that was transplanted into the armor was actually the soul of AL in the "real world" so it would explain why we didnt see al in episode 50. Also the philosphers stone dosent ignore the law or w/e, because every time you use it your using the life energies of the 10,000's of ppl that died to create it (considering the lives of the ppl in ishbal where in scars arm i beleive and he used those lives+7000 solderiers to finish the stone and how many red stones he picked up throughout his life)
