SCHINDLER'S LIST

<Merged "Good Movies of '05, More of a challenge" thread with the following 2 pages of posts. 04/01/07 ~Tombow>

The bad movies list can go on forever, but name me a good, completely original movie from '05. I can't even start this off with one, because none come to mind.

Orginal, as in NOT a sequal, based on a book, or a remake.

Was Syriana based on anything?

According to this, I think it was based on a book by Robert Baer. The way it says "suggestion" might mean it's really loosely based, though.

A movie not based on anything? That's so hard. I was just going to say that "Rent" was pretty good. sad.gif

The Weather Man

I win.

Why bother saying something not based on anything? That eliminates a lot. Of course, Star Wars III sucked hard. I heard Lucas is selling the rights to VII-IX for whoever wants them. I don't care cuz he'd make them as bad as I-III

You're exactly right in saying it eliminates a lot, and that's my problem with movies nowadays. The whole reason I'm doing this is to figure out if there actually were any movies that were good and original. I'm not spending $13 for a movie that I can buy a book about for half the price. Nor am I paying that for a movie I can get at blockbuster or On Demand.

Now, the Weather Man, that's a movie I really wanted to see, but I never got to.

wtf 13 bucks?!! your theater's a ripoff >.>;

OMG LIVE ACTION GTO ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry a little off topic ^^
Celestial Shadow
Umm...Well, I just saw Fantastic Four the other night and it wasn't bad, but it was MAJORLY short.

Best Movie of '05? I'd have to go with Batman Begins. It was the only superhero movie that was really wrth watching. Fantastic Four is nothing but pop culture and stupidity.
Taskinst
This is really hard.... i think it was Four Brothers unsure.gif

Stranger Than Fiction was great....(I KNOW it was based on a book, but it wasn't a well known one, so don't yell at me mellow.gif)....anyways, it was the first movie that Will Ferrell didn't irritate me in, and there are lots of great quotes from it.

Check out Motorcycle Diaries

plot summary:
The Motorcycle Diaries is an adaptation of a journal written by Ernesto "Che" Guevara de la Serna when he was 23 years old. He and his friend, Alberto Granado are typical college students who, seeking fun and adventure before graduation, decide to travel across Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela in order to do their medical residency at a leper colony. Beginning as a buddy/road movie in which Ernesto and Alberto are looking for chicks, fun and adventure before they must grow up and have a more serious life. As is said in the film itself, it's about "two lives running parallel for a while." The two best friends start off with the same goals and aspirations, but by the time the film is over, it's clear what each man's destiny has become.

Pirates Of the Caribbean At Worlds End. I watched it today at 4:55 pm XD. It's long, but good! Not great, but still good enough for those fans.
Still lots of humor! And many unexpected twists!
I can't tell you much more or I'd spoil it.
