I wanna' know how Father was originally created, I also want to know all about the symbolism Arakawa uses, and little details, like why the doors of truth are different for Ed and Al

Do you mean like, how he is now as Father or do you mean how he became Homunculus? Because how he became Father was through Hohenheim, if I'm not mistaken is in the chapter that shows Hoho as basically a slave and how the Philosopher's Stone was made; The Last Days of Xeres I believe? Though I am curious how he became a little man in a flask like that...hmmm

oh yeh i know that, I meant about his form as 'homuculus' in the flask came about, we were told it involved hoenhimes blood, but we arn't told many details of his actual creation, since all other human transmutations in fma have ended badly and not in the creation of a conciousness, i think thats interesting.

@Forsaken Love and Kyelinn - I moved your posts to this thread from "Tying Up Loose Ends Before Fma Story Ends" thread, as I think this thread is very much related to your posts. ^^

And, about making Father in flask, you may find this article interesting... (although this isn't new... after all, the book is several hundred years old.. ^^)

How to make Homunculus in a flask according to Paracelsus (a.k.a. Theophrastus Philippus Aureolus Bombastus von Hohenheim) .. this theory is in Paeacelsus's book, but the article is from Japanese Wiki because I'm too lazy to write this in my own words. :P
If anyone is interested, I recommend doing farther research on your own. ^^

The translation of a portion of the article on that page (paraphrased and condensed) by me:

"According to Paracelsus's 'De Natura Rerum,' place human semen in an airtight flask (also some theory said you might need to add other herbs, excrement, etc.) and ferment it for 40 days. The semen will turn into a colorless and clear form resembling a human fetus. Then feed human blood to it every day for 40 weeks while keeping it to the temperature equaling that of inside the womb of mare. The fetus will then turn into a form of human child, except, it is much smaller than the actual size of human child. (note: hence this homunculus was also called "a dwarf in a flask," as in that was the Japanese chapter title for the chapter with the story arc of Hohenheim as a slave and the Father in the flask. ^^) A homunculus created this way was said to be equipped with every knowledge there was. Also, some theory said that this form of Homunculus could survive only inside the flask it was created in."

Wow, That's interesting information, Tombow. Sounds like an early form of cloning.

I was thinking he may have been cast out of the world behind the gate because he was manipulative, and wants to create a perfect world for himself.
lunneth
well this isn't exactly my personal theory for motivation but i think instead of the usual destroy/enslave the world crap that he may want to just have eternal life and change the ways of humans by uniforming them so that "there will be no more pain" and so he can just live for ever and watch over the human race as an imortal guide.

@Forsaken Love - Umm... thanks for the pic! but...um...I already posted that pic with accompanying story (it's in Japanese, so I translated it) especially FOR YOU 4 days ago on the previous page of this thread (it's only the 3rd post above your post ^^) because I thought you might find it interesting. But, it doesn't work if you don't read the thread. laugh.gif

Anyway, check out the accompanying article for that pic (translated) on my post here. You may find it interesting, and it shows that Arakawa-sensei did her homework well for the naming of Hohenheim character. smile.gif (The book itself is very old, and I think I posted this and we talked about this elsewhere long time ago, tho I don't remember where. XD)
