Um, I'm on the fencing team at my school...but I'm the second worse fencer on the entire team (the exception goes to one of my friends, who I can actually manage to beat)...

hmm i would say that its for the sake of winning, in team sports, that is. Not much of a team player, thats why mountain biking is for me.

If you get stuff like bruises or cuts you can show off for a while, it's kind of fun...broken bones, not so much... (I wouldn't really know though, since I've never actually broken anything yet...)
...and it's usually viewed positively only if you win...
But I'm not really an offensive player. In gym class, whenever they had team sports, I was usually the semi-aggressive defense person who wasn't too effective...
Oh, and this one time when we were out on the soccer field for gym class, this soccer ball came flying out of nowhere and smashed into my arm... (And I wasn't even
in the game- I was in the group that was currently throwing frisbees around~~!!

)
OK, now I'm really not making any sense...

my condition dealy has something to do with my blood cloting or something but i also contract bruises so much easier. This is a true story here:
when i was playing soccer about 3 years ago (my last year) , some kid got his cleets on the back of my thigh all the way down to my shoe and i had a bruise that literally took up the entire back of my leg. it sucked so much
The Flame Alchemist LuckyANBU
Oct 14 2004, 07:13 PM
holy crap bro that sounds painful especially if the cleat went into your skin and like ripped its way thru OUCH ok im done thinkin about it now...EEP! lol

fencing sounds fun.

Oct 15 2004, 03:50 AM
It is fun.

But it does take a lot of energy in fencing matches. (The time limit for a match is 3 minutes, but it usually only takes around 1 1/2 minutes or so...) And you can accumulate a lot of bruises, depending on who you fence/practice with. I fence foil, where you don't score points by hitting arms, legs, etc., but during practice, I kept stabbing my friends right arm... (And then she' like, "Aah! More bruises!!"

)
And it's kind of sad when you keep losing...My school's team is new (this season wil be the 3rd year), and we lost all our meets except for the first one...
But it's still fun~

aaaaaaah!>.< i wanna fence too...
here in germany, there are also fencing clubs, and also secret fencing clubs(mostly conservative) which fight without any security they fence without any special fencing clothes... -> incredible, but interesting, seductive and tempting...^^
some of them got scars and stuff cause of that... likely^^
P.S.: and i like the entrees(opening) and the endings of a fencing fight!! they're soo beautiful and noble...
almost similar to kendo.. but this is another thing^^

I used to have great fun with basketball, too. I know I may be short, but when I play basketball, my (lack of) height makes it that much harder for everyone else, because they have to reach further down. I'm tiny and agile, so they actually have to catch up with me before they even start reaching.

I miss those days.
