<Moving from FMA Anime American Audience sub-forum to FMA Anime Japanese Audience sub-forum where all DVD related threads are being collected currently. 02/21/07 ~Tombow>

I noticed something interesting for the bonus features section of the next Fullmetal Alchemist DVD on Wal-mart.com. Since its volume 5 and the last DVD of the first boxed set, its going to have a few more extras than the last one. They include voice actor commentary and isolated score.

This is great, they should be putting extras like that on all the DVD's, especially the commentary. Isolated score is a cool idea because FMA does have some fantastic orchestral music.

Wish we could get some interviews with the Japanese cast and crew along with the Funimation people.

"voice actor commentary"...Do you mean English VA or Jap VA?
TheVileOne
Its probably English VA since Funimation has done that before.

that sounds like great info to me smile.gif

Just some confirmation from the Dub review forums. The audio commentary track will be on episode 19 and it will be by Aaron Dismuke (Al), Vic Mignogna (Ed), and Mike McFarlund (Havoc and English ADR director).
Femalchemist
Thanks for the info. I can't wait to go pick it up!

^ I doubt that. There is a picture of Vic on adultswim.com though.

I just picked DVD #5 up a little while ago. I have yet to watch it, but it does say actor commentary in the list of extras on the case. smile.gif

I met Vic and Mike (Havoc) at the Anime Expo. smile.gif

Does this one have easter eggs like the first few dvds?
TheVileOne
Yes. Every DVD will have them.
Jellybean
Excellent. I get a kick out of those. smile.gif

Oh wow, I forgot volume five came out yesterday! I have to get it today!

Edit: okay, I got the dvd and wow! it always better without commercials.

For whatever reason, Best Buy didn't release this until today, so I was finally able to pick it up.

Thus the FIRST FMA DVD box set is complete.

Bring on box sets 2 and 3!

I'm not surprised, considering walmart didn't have it when i looked for it. I had to go to moviestop to pick it up. I expected it to be $30, but it was only $20. Sweet.

All the major retailers/department stores price the FMA DVD's at $19.99 adamclark.

Its only places like Suncoast and FYE where anime costs that much.

Granted it was places like that where you could buy anime before the other major stores picked them up.
Ed-Elric
what does the 2nd box look like???
animefangirl
i have it ,but i dident know,so i let my friend borrow it before i saw the extras ! sad.gif

The actors commentary was awesome! Took a little bit for Aaron to get into it, but he did! They should include the commentary more often.

Definitely, it was a lot of fun to listen to.

I think the main reason there was a commentary on this one is because Volume 5 is the last DVD volume for the first box set.

So maybe they will do that for the final DVD volumes of the next box sets as well.

Despite the widespread hatred among anime fans for English dubbing, I love these audio commentaries by the English VA's and I'd like to hear a lot more of them.

Has anyone noticed that on the back of the volume 5's DVD case pictures from the NEXT four episodes are displayed.

When I first got the DVD and looked on the back I was overjoyed.

"Wow! They sure can cram a lot in four episodes, I coulda sworn that the Lab 5 thing lasted at least six or seven episodes."

So I placed the DVD into my PS2 and watched all four episodes, I sat there staring at the credits that always followed the last episode and sighed. My hopes had been raised and then decimated in 88 short minutes...

I am not among that particular group of people. I love the job that the VA's for FMA are doing and I'm hoping the commentary tracks will be on the rest of the DVDs. We'll see....

I actually noticed that in Best Buy when I was looking at the case. I think that they may have put the volume 6 screen caps onto this case. I though it was kinda funny. biggrin.gif

oh well...

I loved the commentary!! I went total fangirl when I heard Vic. I was like, "Oh my God!! He sounds like ED!! *squee*". Then I shut up and listened to it, laughing cuz they were funny! I wish we could have seen them. I think it would have been better.
I also hope that they do that on every DVD to come.
adamclark
you can see vic (if you've never seen him before) in an interview at adultswim.com.

i too am always surprised to hear vic speak. it seems there is little difference between his normal voice and the one he does for ed. crazy.

I try to avoid listening to commentaries when watching Anime, it always seems to take out an element. Makes it kinda uncomfortable when you hear the character's voice the next time. Instead of sitting there and enjoying the anime, you think about the voice actor, and other animes he/she have been in.

Well you can still watch the episode without the commentary later. That's why its optional smile.gif .
