~ What In The World? Is The Fma Manga Almost Over?! A little bird told me... ~I read in another forum that Arakawa commented on how ch. 30 was
around the half-way point, and thus not unusual that we may be near the deaths of two homunculus at once!
So since we are on ch. 51, we have little over 9 chapters next?
My God, is it really almost over? Already?
What will I do with my life now?

Where did you hear that? I've heard that she was planning around 100 chapters, so Chapter 50 would have been the halfway point. We still have four more years of manga, if not more.
Besides, she'd be really letting us down by ending it without revealing what happened in Ishbal, Scar's past, the whole deal with Hohenheim and Father, etc etc etc. :P

well if you are in the usa, we probably have about seven more years of the manga, considering we are only on volume 2 and number 3 has been delayed.
it's gonna be a long time before we even reach chapter 50!

right, but still, seven years!
I can't imagine the story going for so long! I've only seen the anime and know how it ends, but am in the dark as the ongoing manga story, which seems to be very different.

You're right about reading manga off a comp. It's kinda annoying... but i still read anyways. That's why I bought the FMA manga, and to say this....BUY THE MANGA PEOPLE!! IT'S WAY BETTER READING THE MANGA THAN RUINING YOUR EYES AT THE SAME TIME READING OFF THE COMP! IF U R A FAN, BUY BUY BUY! I plan to collect the whole entire FMA series. I don't have to wait for 7 years to buy the whole manga series up to date. Right now, Korea has about 10 volumes, and I have three with the PG1. 7 more~

Yeah, Panini bought supossedly the manga, but it seems that what they bought was the anime, and they wanted to sell it at a high prize. finally it seems that they've sold it, and next year we'll have the anime here (Gods, I'm scared, Alphonse=Alfonso and Edward=Eduardo, you'll see >.<, and I preffer not to talk about the translation xD). You're wrong : in France, my country, FullMetal Alchemist manga is published by Kurokawa (manga branch of the editor "Fleuve Noir"), and both Volumes 1 and 2 are ou since 8 September of this year (in short, since 10 days ago.)
As for the anime in France, it's licenced by Dybex, and if I'm not mistaken, the first DVD will be released this month.

dunno, that's what they told me :s I heared that panini had the manga, and then they told me that they sold the anime to an enterprise and was going to be published next year. BTW, it may be right, because they don't usually publish manga and much less anime, they strategy was to buy it and then sell it with a much higher price, and that's what I've been told they've done, but instead the manga, the anime. Panini is the one that is going to release the stickers and all, not the anime nor the manga. That wasn't their plan to begin with :s, but those are just speculations and things you read in the forums. We asked panini what was happening with naruto and fma since we were going to dub it, but they didn't answer so...
EDIT: And same happens with Naruto, they supposedly were trying to buy the anime to sell it, but they were having problems since the one publishing the manga was Glénat, who had more priority and wanted to do the same. But I think they could buy it anyways since Panini is a really big enterprise, and its core is located in Itally, but it has a great power in France and Spain too.

hey hey,
You two are right and you two are wrong XD. Panini has the rights in Europe, but it doesn't mean ALL Europe. We know about France license, because it was some time ago, but Panini brought the rights about the manga (and we think the anime too) now. So I suppose France brough them by itself earlier, but Panini brought it now for the rest of countries.
But, for example, we know Panini sell mangas at Spain, but ussually it doesn't make anime, because there is no "Panini Video" in Spain (there is in Italy, for example), so they sell the rights to others companies.

We should write a fourm letter, get some people to translate it (oh umeko-sama~~) and send it to her. They did that the zelda manga translation site and got a reply from the author. I'm sure Arakawa would love to know she's got fans in so many parts of the world, and maybe she'd give us a hint of how long there is to go.

Don't believe evreything your hear on the Internet. I'm sure we still have plenty of more volumes to go. But I knew from the beginning that FMA wasn't going to be a long manga like Naruto or whatever, when it'll wrap up, that'll be it. Personally, I hope it doesn't run too long. I don't like a story that goes on and on and on, like a soap opera (unless it IS a soap opera.

).
Look at Inuyasha, still going on........she wants around 500 chapters.......that's just too much. Eventually it just becomes tedious and repetitve. I like a story to have a good length, but eventually enough is enough.
I think no more than 18 or 20 volumes would be good, like Fushigi Yuugi or Angel Sanctuary.
