There also a letter from Ed to Winry. Still the letter seem to be a little weird blink.gif
MasterKris
Wait, is that letter real? Or is it fanmade?

They are translations of the scans from the new animedia magazine. They are real.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! No more Hagaren!! I just finished the movie and *sob* I need more!! The movie wasn't a masterpiece or anything but it was good enough for me. At least we have the manga to look forward to.

Ed never met his alter either.  And just like Ed's alter, Al's died.  So good riddance tongue.gif .

What? Ed did met his alter... or more correctly he "became" his alter during the series when he first past through the gate. Then he died (or his alter died) and Ed was sent back to his world. But I guess since you said "just like Ed's alter" you knew that already (then what was that question for!?)

Anyways, I watched it today
Such a goood movie T T glad it left me satisfied in the end.

I think the most significant part was at the end when Al's memories came back. Then I asked myself, why? Well my crazy theory is that probably when Al (back when he was the armor/philosophers stone) used himself to revive Ed, he was sent to the other side of the gate, probably his soul (? or is saying memories more accurate) and the armor now separated. When Al went past the gate with his fleshly body, he might have been.... reunited with his "other soul" (the soul that was with Ed for the three years) therefore regaining his memories.

I thought that was cool. And most satisfying.

Mini thoughts:
I liked Noah. Thats all.

Hoenhiem died.. It was so sad... oh I thought Ed really go shot when that B17CH shot him tongue.gif Alphonse died tooooooooo how noble it was ><

T T Wrath died! Waa... but when he did I knew why Izumi had to be dead before it happened- he couldn't be reunited at the gate like he did.

Envy never turned back into his human looking form... guess he lost his abilities to change shape? Good thing he changed into a dragon before going biggrin.gif

Gluttony o.0 wow, freaky. What did Dante do to him!? Guess he ate her.

Poor Winry... Well, least she got to hug him once before he left =P

I agree with the fact that there weren't enough concluding endings... WHat if Roy dies or something!? haha.. nah, long live the flame Alchemist ^^

I definitely cracked up when Ed and AL saw Scar and Lusts Alter Ego at the end. XD

Afterword tongue.gif- Awesome movie.

KXELA: Thank you for pointing that out to TheVileOne. Ed DID 'possess' his alter during the series. ^^; I believe that was in episode 50...

Anyways, that would've been interesting if Winry DID go with them! O_O But at least the brothers are together again. Oh, and thank you for liking Noah. *likes her too* ^^; Hoho-papa's death was- uh- WOAH..? O_o How can he possibly have that much blood?! And I had to do a doubletake to realize that both Hoho-papa and Envy were used as sacrifices to open the Gate (well, they both disappeared). >_> Wrath's death was sad, but Heiderich's death WAS THE ANGST!!! ;____; *luved Heiderich* The funeral was awesome (and sappy) though.

le sigh.... ;____;

EDIT: Those letters were SO ADORABLE!!!
The RZA
Just finished the movie. It was freaking awesome
TheVileOne
Whatever. He still never met or spoke with Alter-Ed just because he was in his body.

Erroneous.

Ed: *realizes he's in the body of his alter ego when hearing his alter's voice*
TheVileOne
Erroneous, the fact of the matter is, he didn't meet him like people are complaining about how Al should have met his counter-part.
Reika
I didn't read it all what you were talking about, so I stated what happened in the episode. Even if it doesn't say a thing to the thread, it's not erroneus.

I'm gonna get nightmares from Gluttony. God, that was so repulsive! It reminded me of something outta Neon Genisis Evangelion.

Agreed. I used to love Gluttony. But ever since Lust went bye-bye, he was just depressed but then BANG! He had to be turned into the mean eating machine. >.>

as a way to tell the ending of a story, or a way to extend the ending, conqueror of shambahla did a wonderful job.

there is no need for character development, if you have seen the entire TV series.
Keos
Finished watching part 1, and part 2 will probably take 4 or 5 days to download (man bittorrent is just no good to me >.>). So in the mean time, I can't help but post something and give a partial verdict. Since I don't know what the characters say, I can only comment on what I interpret which is basically subjective evaluation.

Anyway, so far the movie has been pretty good. The artwork is just fantastic (referring to the environment and backgrounds)! The direction truly provides stunning results - it is truly beautiful to look at, with as much detail and realism as stuff like Miyazaki productions. This is definitely high budget production. The only thing that's not so good about the animation is the difference between the computer animation of those armour suits and character animation..... the effect is just somewhat jarring.

I got to say, I have to withdraw my earlier opinion on the Noah character - she's actually pretty ok and doesn't seem quite so useless (because of her extra screen-time) as she seemed when her role was described on paper. Of course, since I don't really know what conversations the characters were holding, I can't comment too much of how much she actually accomplished/could accomplish for the other characters.

One of the notable limitations of a movie production compared to a serial is the restraint on time and thus a restraint on the amount of character development that can happen. I really loved Al H. - the deep voice helps and reminds me he is actually a man and not a child, but it's a pity that we can't actually get to bond with him more than if he had been in the FMA series. But because FMA is so action/story-oriented as opposed to drama-oriented, Al H. just couldn't get as much screen-time.... well, I 'll have to keep seeing what his appearance means.

I don't have anything else to say about other characters except that Roy seems to be acting very extreme with self-punishment. From reading the Blue book Gaiden and those random flashbacks in the anime, I suppose I can extrapolate his actions based on that bit of his character that I've seen from that gaiden to encompass what he's doing in the movie. However, that extrapolation is towards something I think would have been more unlikely than likely. In other words, I thought his character change in the movie was more unlikely to have happened than was likely to have happened given the anime ending (where he was all jolly and recuperating with Riza feeding him apples).

Got nothing more to say at this stage, so I'll post more after I watch the second half.
*inverse*
Just my thoughts:

- I'm glad Al and Ed stayed together.

- Al cut his hair, and that made me happy.

- As an EdxWin fan, I'm a *little* disappointed, but I didn't have high expectations in the first place. At least they had a moment ^^

- Hitler scared me.

- Ed seemed a little lacking in emotion...but it's kind of in his character ^^; (Al made up for it, anyway)

-Alter!Scar and Alter!Lust made me squeal.

Overall, it was good ending to the series, and I really enjoyed it.
Just have to remember that there is still the manga happy.gif

I finsished watching the movie...It was a bit sad and i never dreamed gluttony will turn into that freaking monster.
Pamster
Yeah I never would have thought that possible, but Gluttony was humongus! Whoever designed that form of him did a incredible job with it. Love the fight scene with Wrath, how he slammed his arm into the center of the transmutation circle and told Al to use them, that was a great scene. The way Gluttony was 'chewing' on Wrath made me kinda ill though. What is it with chewing in this movie? LOL! I mean Envy got Ed in his jaws-and we know he did his father in. Trying to think if anything else was chewing and can't come up with any. tongue.gif

Anyone know what the deal was with that woman when she enterred the gate? Were there guys in the suits of armor? there were right? So what was the deal with her changing like she did getting black looking lines on her face? Like the arms of the critters IN the gate kinda stuck themselves to her? I was wondering what all that meant. Anyone got any ideas? smile.gif Great movie overall. smile.gif
Jellybean
@Pamster - I was wondering about many of the same things. I really wish I could speak Japanese! sad.gif Darn! I'd also like to know what that whole conversation between Ed and Alter!Bradley was about. They were talking for like five minutes, it was showing all these images, then Ed got upset and ran off, but I have no idea what was being said. Oh yeah, and Alter!Bradley going "Beh!" and doing that eye/tongue thing was so freaking funny. laugh.gif Really want to know what Al H. said to Ed right before they parted, too. *sigh* I guess we'll just have to wait.
Anyway, my favorite parts were when Al first saw Ed again (freaking cute!), the Gluttony/Wrath fight (nice animation, but a little stomach-turning), and the music. And I know alot of people hate the ending, but I'm just so happy that Ed and Al are back together and most of my favorite characters didn't die. I was so sure they were going to make a martyr out of Ed or something and that would have made me cry. This ending was kind of sweet, and the characters can still live their lives, just in different circumstances. That little ending shot of the photos was nicely done, too. There was something kind of poetic about it.
I totally agree with you Jellybean. I thought the ending was sweet too with each in their own way. It's implied IMO that Roy LET Al go, he seemed to me to be holding Al back while Ed stood there, but Then there is an exchange off screen btwn him (Roy) and Alphonse as he begs him to let him go. First Rose held him back, but that was good in a way you know? I think I'd coin Al the Astral Alchemist as that is exactly what he did with the armor, seeing it go silent was chilling wasn't it?

It was nothing like I expected and so much more then I could have hoped for you know? We get them reunited, bottom line and thoough I'd rather have seen them stay with Winry and Roy, Riza & Schezka. All of them need people like Ed & Al. I loved how Al transmuted that water, that was a cool scene. There definitely was a lot put into the animation. That scene with Wrath and Gluttony was poetic I agree-watching the Homunculi dancing to the death. I am shocked Al made it through the gate ok, but was impressed with the fourway gate that opened to the other side, that gate effect was cool. smile.gif

I really loved the movie and can't wait to see it here. biggrin.gif *grins big at the idea of owning it dubbed, with subbed letterbox version or something good on a DVD Dub release maybe in 2007*

@Jellybean -
Here is Ed and Alter-Bradley, leading up to "Beh" with my rough translation.

************************************************************
At 0023:50 into the movie:

(Ed spots Alter-Bladley in a passing car.)

(Ed runs to intercept.)

Ed thinking while running: "Why? Why Humonculi in this world?"

(Ed stands in front of the car, punches out the chauffeur who comes out of the car, then approaches Alt-Bradley.)

Ed: "King Bladley!!"

A-B: "King?"

Ed while thinking about Mustang: "You came over this side... (that means) Colonel..."

A-B: "Colonel? Something during the war?"

Ed: "Don't play innocent!"

(Ed realizes the person in front of him may be an alter version.)

Ed: "Excuse me."

(Ed goes inside the car to take a closer look.)

A-B: "Help Yourself (to take a good look.)"

(Alt-Blad takes his eye glass and makes funny "Beh" face to Ed who's staring at him.)

Ends at 0024:55 into the movie.
**************************************************************

If I get more time I'll post more of Ed-AltBradley conversation. smile.gif

Here is Ed and Alter-Bradley, continuing after "Beh", with my rough translation.

************************************************************
At 0024:55 into the movie:

(After seeing Alt-Bradley's "Beh" eye, Ed realizes the person is not King Bradley.)

Ed, while moving away from Alt-Brad, (this one is not audible clearly, and the following is my half-guess translation): "That's right. Since Humonclus are creations based on real persons in the other world, it's not strange I see an alter look-alike of someone who's a Humoncli in the other world."

Alter-Bradley: "A mistaken identity?"

Ed: " I apologize."

A-B: "I'm a jew. (And) there are many (German) nationalists who try to attack me when they see me as a rich jew, so I'm used to it. By the way, can you drive?"

Ed: "So so."

A-B: "Then ask you to be a replacement (for my chauffeur). Till he wakes up."

(After this the scene switches to Alphonse and others demonstrating their project.)

Ends at 0025:30 into the movie.

Thank you Tombow! That makes it make more sense. What about the second convo they have? That would be something to know what they're sayiing there when Lira's double shows up and scoffs Ed. I laughed at that, she was so stuck up before in the series and after that you have to wonder what she'd be like in the 'parallel world' it's that conversation I would really like to know what they are saying. Like is Ed telling him or is Bradle talking to him about fiction and when he has that gun Bradley gave him.

Ed with a gun is a weird sight, but since that is what we have instead of alchemy in this world it's interesting to see him in this light. Wouuld also love to know what he is telling Noah as he is like putting his leg and flexing his arm. Wonder what he is saying about it to her. This is so cool that people are translating some of it. biggrin.gif

Like you, I'm also waiting for someone to hurry up and come out with the subbed version.
I like subbs. tongue.gif Well, ok I like both. biggrin.gif
Meanwhile, I'll try to get the second Ed-AltBrad convo scene next, then other scenes as my time permits.

BTW, others who can understand Japanese (I know there are many of you out there in this forum), while we are all waiting for the sub to come out, please feel free to pitch in and post your translation of the scenes that are requested but not answered yet. Or, for that matter, ANY scenes you like. Please includes the time stamp of the scene at the begining of translation if you can, so that we know exactly which scene.
(Hope it's ok with the mods that we do that here. Else, please let me know.) smile.gif

Also, with the requested scenes, it helps if I know the time stamp (how many minutes into the movie) of those scenes so that I can find them more quickly.

I'll be back sometime later.

Here is Ed and Alter-Bradley at the old castle for the dragon hunt, with my rough translation.
(I'm short of time tonight, so this is very rough translation. Hope you don't mind.)

************************************************************
At 0027:25 into the movie:

(Ed and Alter-Bradley arrive at a ruin of an old castle.)

(One of guys who are already gethered there (seem hired by Bradley for the hunt) hands Ed a flashlight.)

(Ed & AltBrad walk into the castle.)

Alter-Bradley: "Rumor says some thieves who came to rob the castle saw it."

Ed: "(Saw) what?"

A-B: "A dragon. Though, the story goes it was a giant snake."

Ed: "Come all the way, just to check a rumor..."

A-B: "I have my reason for wanting to find a real dragon."

Ed: "To use as a medicine or something?"

(A-B hands Ed a gun, and they go separate ways inside the castle (in search of a dragon.))

Ed, as he walks alone (just before running into a dragon): "(Now is) right about the time to ditch them.."

Ends at 0028:25 into the movie.
*************************************************************

I will work on "Ed and Alter-Bradley at Alt-Bradley's movie studio" scene next. See you later. smile.gif

Hey, I wasn't real sure what was happening with Hitler in the movie at first. He staged some kind of uprising and then apparently got the smackdown, and I'm thinking "This happened in 1923? They must just be making stuff up." But tonight I was watching History Channel and they were actually talking about this. (Everytime I turn to History Channel, they're talking about Hitler. Sheesh.) Anyway, this is the Beer Hall Putsch of November 8, 1923. Apparently, Germany was in debt to other european nations after WWI and the value of German currency was dropping drastically, causing general unrest among the German people. (Remember Hohenheim complaining about the price of fruit and inflation at the end of the series?) And then this happened:

QUOTE
The Nazis and other similar groups now felt the time was right to strike. The German state of Bavaria where the Nazis were based was a hotbed of groups opposed to the democratic government in Berlin. By now, November 1923, the Nazis, with 55,000 followers, were the biggest and best organized. With Nazi members demanding action, Hitler knew he had to act or risk losing the leadership of his Party.

Hitler and the Nazis hatched a plot in which they would kidnap the leaders of the Bavarian government and force them at gunpoint to accept Hitler as their leader. Then, according to their plan, with the aid of famous World War One General, Erich Ludendorff, they would win over the German Army, proclaim a nationwide revolt and bring down the German democratic government in Berlin.

They put this plan into action when they learned there was going to be a large gathering of businessmen in a Munich beer hall and the guests of honor were scheduled to be the Bavarian leaders they now wanted to kidnap.

On November 8, 1923, SA troops under the direction of Hermann Göring surrounded the place. At 8:30 p.m., Hitler and his storm troopers burst into the beer hall causing instant panic.

Hitler fired a pistol shot into the ceiling. "Silence!" he yelled at the stunned crowd.

Hitler and Göring forced their way to the podium as armed SA men continued to file into the hall. State Commissioner Gustav von Kahr, whose speech had been interrupted by all this, yielded the podium to Hitler.

"The National Revolution has begun!" Hitler shouted. "...No one may leave the hall. Unless there is immediate quiet I shall have a machine gun posted in the gallery. The Bavarian and Reich governments have been removed and a provisional national government formed. The barracks of the Reichswehr and police are occupied. The Army and the police are marching on the city under the swastika banner!"

None of that was true, but those in the beer hall could not know otherwise.

But then word came that attempts to take over several Army barracks had failed and that German soldiers inside those barracks were holding out against the Nazi storm troopers. Hitler decided to leave the beer hall and go to the scene to personally resolve the problem.

Leaving the beer hall was a fateful error. In his absence the Nazi revolution quickly began to unravel. The three Bavarian government leaders, Kahr, Lossow, and Seisser, slipped out of the beer hall after falsely promising Ludendorff they would remain loyal to Hitler.

Meanwhile, Hitler had no luck in getting the German soldiers who were holding out in the barracks to surrender. Having failed at that, he went back to the beer hall.

When he arrived back at the beer hall he was aghast to find his revolution fizzling. There were no plans for tomorrow's march on Berlin. Munich wasn't even being occupied. Nothing was happening.

In fact, only one building, Army headquarters at the War Ministry had been occupied by Ernst Röhm and his SA troopers. Elsewhere, rogue bands of Nazi thugs roamed the city of Munich rounding up some political opponents and harassing Jews.

In the early morning hours of November 9, State Commissioner Kahr broke his promise to Hitler and Ludendorff and issued a statement blasting Hitler: "Declarations extorted from me, General Lossow and Colonel von Seisser by pistol point are null and void. Had the senseless and purposeless attempt at revolt succeeded, Germany would have been plunged into the abyss and Bavaria with it."

Kahr also ordered the breakup of the Nazi party and its fighting forces.

General Lossow also abandoned Hitler and ordered German Army reinforcements into Munich to put down the Nazi putsch. Troops were rushed in and by dawn the War Ministry building containing Röhm and his SA troops was surrounded.

Hitler was up all night frantically trying to decide what to do. General Ludendorff then gave him an idea. The Nazis would simply march into the middle of Munich and take it over. Because of his World War One fame, Ludendorff reasoned, no one would dare fire on him. He even assured Hitler the police and the Army would likely join them. The now-desperate Hitler went for the idea.

Around 11 a.m. on the morning of November 9, a column of three thousand Nazis, led by Hitler, Göring and Ludendorff marched toward the center of Munich. Carrying one of the flags was a young party member named Heinrich Himmler.

After reaching the center of Munich, the Nazis headed toward the War Ministry building but they encountered a police blockade. As they stood face to face with about a hundred armed policemen, Hitler yelled out to them to surrender. They didn't. Shots rang out. Both sides fired. It lasted about a minute. Sixteen Nazis and three police were killed. Göring was hit in the groin. Hitler suffered a dislocated shoulder when the man he had locked arms with was shot and pulled him down onto the pavement.

Hitler's bodyguard, Ulrich Graf, jumped onto Hitler to shield him and took several bullets, probably saving Hitler's life. Hitler then crawled along the sidewalk out of the line of fire and scooted away into a waiting car, leaving his comrades behind. The rest of the Nazis scattered or were arrested. Ludendorff, true to his heroic form, walked right through the line of fire to the police and was then arrested.

Hitler wound up at the home his friends, the Hanfstaengls, where he was reportedly talked out of suicide. He had become deeply despondent and expected to be shot by the authorities. He spent two nights hiding in the Hanfstaengl's attic. On the third night, police arrived and arrested him. He was taken to the prison at Landsberg where his spirits lifted somewhat after he was told he was going to get a public trial.

And then Hitler was sentenced to 5 years in prison, but pardoned and released after less than a year. So, yeah, the stuff on in the background is fairly accurate, and I think it's pretty cool. smile.gif

PS - Sorry for the super-long quote.

@Jellybean - Great find! Thanks for posting that background information. smile.gif

Here is something I found...
I'm translating Ed & AltBradley at AltBrad's movie studio scene, and I just translated Alt-Brad saying his name.
I cross-referenced to check the spelling of the name, and found out there really was an German immigrant filmmaker with that name who fled Nazi Germany and ended in the States.

Here is the link for the bio info on Fritz Lang, the real-life film maker that seems to match Alt-Bradley character:
http://www.answers.com/topic/fritz-lang?method=8
It mentions his mother possibly being jewish. Other bio facts, such as calling him "Mabuse" seem to match as well.
And, scroll down for his picture in the above link. He is wearing an eye glass (though on the wrong eye.)
Also, according to this bio, he made films at a movie studio in Ufa, Germany.
In the Fma movie, during the movie studio scene, there is a Japanese sub describing the place as "Berlin, Ufa movie studio." rolleyes.gif

Anyway, back to the translation of Ed & Alt-Bradley at the movie studio... I'm up to ED & Bradley having conversations over a cup of tea.
I'll clean up my typos etc. and post it soon.

Edit to add: @lialiakicks - I'll get to Ed-Heiderich scene after I finish Ed-AltLira scene. smile.gif

This is fascinating that they put so much effort into it, both of the above posts show me that they put a LOT of effort into making it somewhat accurate. I can't wait to see what more you've translated TomBow, thanks for doing that area around thier tea talk. I wonder what is being said there about parallel worlds. Definitely looks interesting. Have we had any word from the folks who are subbing it? smile.gif

@Pamster - The more I learn, the more I'm getting impressed by this movie. It is a quite well-made movie.

Here is the begining of a series of scenes with Ed and Alter-Bradley at the movie studio, with my rough translation.
(This is very rough translation to tie you by, till subbed version becomes available somehow.)

************************************************************
At 0053:30 into the movie:

(ED and Alter-Bradley are at one of Bradley's movie set. )

Ed, while looking at a clumsy mechanical dragon: "With such a (lack of) quality, no wonder you want to use a real dragon for shooting (the movie.)"

Alt-Bradley: "Even this, after witnessing that (dragon,) we have improved it a quit a bit."

(Alt-Brad snaps his fingers, and the mechanical dragon shows some animal like moves.)

Ed, with a newspaper that has an article on Alt-Brad's movie: " 'Doctor Mabuze', it seemed (this movie's) done by you."

(Ed shows "Die Zeit (The Time)" newspaper with Alt-Brad's picture and the article.)

Alt-Brad: "(That was one of my) mischieves. (Indeed, my name is) Fritz Lang. How do you do?"

(The shot of "Universal film" sign, with a Japanese sub saying "Berlin, Ufa movie studio.")

This scene ends at 0054:02 into the movie.

Continuing with Ed & Alter Bradley at Alt-Bradley's movie studio scene, right after "Universal Film" sign.
(Once again, this is a very rough translation to tie you by, till subbed version becomes available somehow.)

At 0054:05 into the movie:

Alter-Brad: "I'm thinking about going to (United States of) America. (And,) to study English, I've been reading some of their novels. (They are) cheap novels, but intersting."

(Shot of Ed and Alt-Bradley walking on the street among movie sets.)

Alt-Brad continues: "Many are science fictions. I found one interesting (sci-fi novel) recently."

(Alt-Brad hands Ed a book. Shot of pages from the book, with words "Parallel World".)

A-B: "It says there exists another world parallel to our own world that is very similar to ours, yet somewhat different. I guess we can call it 'Parallel World'."

(Ed looking at the book while two keeps walking, and Alt-Brad continues talking.)

A-B: "In that world, dragon and magic may exist. Or, Alchemy has been developed in place of Science. Or, (I,) Fritz is not a movie director, but a criminal who posesses a same face (as mine), or even a female. It's fun imagining it."

Ed, while handing back the book to Alt-Brad: "That's just (someone's) fantasy."

A-B: "(You say) fantasy... But, which one is the fantasy, and which one is the real world?"

Ed: "You will not understand... the words of someone who (actually) spends (his/her) life in (that) fantasy world."

This scene ends at 0055:11 into the movie, right before Ed-AltBrad tea scene.

Tombow
Here is more background information for another character in the movie.
He is the author of the book on Japan Alter-Bradley was telling about to Ed in the scene, then later shows up as a movie character.
There was a real-life counterpart, and he was a rather famous professor for his Aryan (as in Aryan Nation's name-sake) theory called Geopolitics, and a large volume of studies have been done on him.
As in the movie, he had quite influence over the Thule society, Hitler, and Nazis, especially at the early stage.

Some info on Karl Haushofer here. There are tons of more info on him on the Internet: http://www.intelinet.org/swastika/swasti02.htm

And, here is some of the content from the link:
......Notwithstanding Adolf Hitler's claims on the contrary, some authors believe that it was Karl Haushofer, whom they see as Hitler's guiding brain, the one who suggested the Führer the adoption of the swastika as the Nazi symbol. This is, i. e., the opinion of Pauwels and Bergier.

Karl Haushofer was born in Bavaria in 1869. He chose a career as a professional soldier, and his intellectual gifts and meticulous attention to detail quickly allowed him to get an appointment to the Staff Corps.

Haushofer is known to have had a reputation for precognition, manifested when he was a young field artillery officer in the Bavarian army. In 1908 the army sent him to Tokyo to study the Japanese army and to advise it as an artillery instructor. The assignment changed the course of his life and marked the beginning of his love affair with the Orient. During the next four years he traveled extensively in the Far East, adding Korean, Japanese, and Chinese to his repertoire of Russian, French, and English languages.

During his multiple visits to Japan, Haushofer made the acquaintance of many influential Japanese politicians and developed a strong rapport for the Japanese culture which helped in some way to create the German-Japanese alliance during the war.

Karl Haushofer had been a devout student of Schopenhauer, and during his stay in the Far East he was introduced to Oriental esoteric teachings. He became proficient enough to translate several Hindu and Buddhist texts, and became an authority in Oriental mysticism. Some authors even believe that he was the leader of a secret community of Initiates in a current of satanism through which he sought to raise Germany to world power, though these occult connections have been denied.

It is also believed that he belonged to the esoteric circle of George Gurdjieff. Others claim that he was a secret member of the Thule Society. Some authors have linked Haushofer's name with another esoteric group, the Vril Society, or Luminous Lodge, a secret society of occultists in pre-Nazi Berlin.

It was not until the age of forty-five that he obtained his doctorate with a brilliant thesis on Political Geography. He continued developing the ideas expressed on his dissertation, until developing a whole new doctrine he called geopolitics.

Among Haushofer's students at Munich university was a young, bright army officer: Rudolf Hess. Soon Hess became Haushofer's favorite student. Later Hess also became one of the closest associates of Hitler. He was serving time with Hitler at Lansdberg. It is a well known fact that it was Rudolf Hess who introduced Haushofer to Adolf Hitler, and also that the professor frequently visited the Führer while he was writing Mein Kampf in Landsberg Fortress prison after his failed Munich putsch in 1923......
Tombow
Here is the begining of the scene with Ed and Alter-Bradley talking over a cup of tea, with my rough translation.
This scene is very long and may take several posts to complete.

************************************************************
At 0055:12 into the movie:

(Ed and Alter-Bradley are sitting down and talking over a cup of tea, somewhere in the Alter-Bradley's movie studio.)

(Briefly, Alter-Lira approaches and curtsy to Alt-Bradley, snobbs Ed, and leave.)

Ed: "So, talk to me."

Alter-Bradley: "This is a book by Major General Karl Haushofer. I met him in an island nation called Imperial Japan."

(Alt-Bradley brings out a book with a rising-Sun flag on the cover.)

Alter-Brad: "It's an unique nation, in a sense that a country is ruled (and run) by a single race. (On contrast,) German people are not just living inside Germany. Germans are also scattered around, and living in Poland, Austria, and many other countries. Unite those countries, and create a nation consisting only of German race, the book talks about such."

(Ed looks at the cover of the book and put it back.)

Ed: "Not interested."

This ends at 0055:59 into the movie. The conversation continues.
*************************************************************

Continues to my next post.

Edit to add: I also posted some bio info on real-life Kearl Haushofer in my preceeding post.
He is said to have had some psychic power. Visited Japan, Tibet, etc. Interesting guy. smile.gif
Tombow
The scene continues from my post above.

************************************************************
At 0056:00 into the movie:

Alter-Bradley continues talking: "One more thing."

Alt-Brad: " 'Shamballa', it's a mystical oriental utopia, and it is said that one who conquers it can also conquer the world, and they believe that."

Ed: "Do you (believe that also)?"

(Alt-Brad, instead of answering Ed, holds up a picture of scientists surrounding a device.)

(A close up of the picture shows the device is an Uranium bomb.)

A-B: "Do you know what this is?"

Ed: "That's...!"

(A flashback of Ed in the other world, dealing with the guy with the Uranium bomb.)

A-B: "Thule Society has helped to create the National Socialist German Workers' Party, so-called Nazis, and still now has a strong (political) influence over the party."

Ed: "Nazis.."

This ends at 0056:35 into the movie. The conversation continues.
