as state numerous times, it varys by series. but i spose people who are less creative would prefer anime, where everything is done for them
Luke Groundwalker
Like many people have said in this topic, "it all depends." For example: Cowboy Bebop, Yu-Yu-Hakusho, s-CRY-ed, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and RahXephon are way better than their manga counterparts.

Now don't get me wrong, there is a lot of manga that are better than their anime counter-parts: Dragon Ball (Z), Naruto, Hikaru no Go, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh, FMA are prime examples in this type of situation.

But, in general, if I had a choice between a piece of animation and a comic book, then I'll go with the animation. Why? Because I love to see things animated. Don't get me wrong, I love things in comic form, too. But animation tends to entertain me more than a comic book. Meh, that's all the say-so I can put into this matter. :\
Ed-Al-Win Fan
I choose Anime, like most other people who like anime, I like to mostly see things animated...which I'm now in school to study for....But yeah it all depends on what you really like to do...
ChocolateAlchemist
it's way too hard to decide- I love them both!
Colette
Easily mangas.

You can grab one on the go and read them, which is something you can't do with animes. A majority of the time (not all the time) mangas are the original and the anime is based of it. When this happens, the animes have unnecassary fillers and change to many things. Mangas usually have more indept characters than animes. They usually have better plots as well.

and thats pretty much it dry.gif

EDIT: I forgot about Fullmetal Alchemist XP
Le Monkey
Depends, manga in some, abnime in some
Vash_the_Gunslinger
I like the anime on most of the series I've seen. But sometimes it's better to read manga. I think I like the anime better if I had to make a
decision.
Sin Of Envy
Depends, Yu-Gi-Oh manga is better then anime but FullMetal Alchemist anime is better then manga....
Kitty Alchemist
i vote for manga. i like anime too but sometime it doesn't go by the book and they change the story around. Like D.N.Angel, the anime is different from the manga.
Roy-Riz-fan
It's anime.Sometimes people are too lazy to read things im kinda like that and its in color at least. biggrin.gif
Neo78956
It honestly depends on the series

I actually liked the FMA anime better than the manga thus far, but the Yu-Gi-Oh manga is sooooooooooooo much better than the anime, mostly because of the better and far darker storyline in the manga, and the same goes for Naruto. Although the anime and manga are almost identical for Naruto, I've always liked the manga better. Shonen Jump is what got me into anime and manga, so i tend to like the manga better in most cases, with the exception of FMA.
Kitty Alchemist
Manga because I like the art work and some of them are funny
Chibka
Manga- it's cheaper and it's the original. Nothing's better than the original.
Kitty Alchemist
Yeah the original is what make it good.
Chibka
*nods* Always and forever^^
Kitty Alchemist
I love the art work because they have a lot detail like the character hairs, clothes, etc. and anime don't sometime.
Chibka
yeah, and most anime looks the same... not much diversity.
Crystal220
I like manga better... easy access, faster to download... cheaper to buy and collect... good to show off ^^;;

And my belief is that mangas usually have a deeper story and better plot development than their corresponding anime... I mean... I believe FMA does too, even if the anime was good too.

Of course, there's no music in mangas, and you'd really need to use your imagination sometimes to try and conjure up those amazing scenes, but the amazing artwork tends to make up for it.
Bboy9987
most of the time manga because it usually has stuff thats left out of the anime ph34r.gif ph34r.gif
Kitty Alchemist
and you can read it anytime you want.
Stormdragon
I honestly love the Manga more that the anime because I like picturing how it will turn out when it ends on a cliffhanger, anime they give you a preview a lot and it just spoils it, plus manga goes further, and has a lot more humor. In most cases

I agree with Chopper Enthusiast

In my opinion it really depends on the series. With some, I think they do better on the anime. But with others they do way better with the manga. Like, for Fullmetal Alchemist, I enjoy both the anime and the manga. Sometimes they aren't very descriptive in the manga, but they are in the anime or vise versa. And other times, they leave out a lot of things that was originally in the manga and change some things. So, I guess I enjoy both, depending on the series.

I agree with Chopper Enthusiast and snwbnny. There are some mangas that should remain mangas and there are some mangas that should be animes. Somes animes should be mangas. I would have to say it depends on the plot line for me. If it has a REALLY good plot line, like FMA for example, then heck ya make it an anime. But if it is something like Bobobo-Bo-Bobobo then leave it as a manga. Basically, I guess it depends on what kind of personality the viewer has. If they love to read then mangas might suit some of them better (I mean die hard readers-the ones that barely even watch TV). If you don't really like to read then you're probably better off just watching the TV.
Ant
I liked Samurai Champloo as an anime, I just recently noticed the manga (which I'm sure was written after the anime) showing up in bookstores. I looked through the first edition, and I noticed that they changed some of the stuff up, but wasn't done in a way that seemed "worse" to me, but just different.

Kel
For me they even out.

It usually depends on the story. (for instance, the anime of fruits basket totally killed it) But sometimes the changing isnt a bad thing. I like the fma manga AND anime BECAUSE they're different. The differences make it fun reading or watching either and comparing. I like manga because the artwork is great and I like seeing how the original author portrayed the characters. But the downside is whenever I'm in a rush and there's a big block of text I just skim it or skip it all together, anime solves this problem. Also it's fun to see your favourite mangas in action! haha.
Nil-chan
Most definatly manga. The art work is so much easier to appreciate, and generally speaking the plotline is muc hmore detailed and complex, and, as said before, the original almost always tops all.
Kitty Alchemist
True. I love to look at the artwork it look soo wonderful and cool. Plus you can read manga anything and anywhere you want.
Fullmini Alchemist
Manga usually delves deeper into the story but I do love to see the scenes in action and have voices.
FMA-Freak
It kinda depends, but I like anime a little more. Like, Naruto,HAS SO MANY FILLERS!!! GRR!! When will they be over!?!? But in the manga they are really far into it. And in the anime, they leave alot of is stuff out. But for Fullmetal Alchemist, I Love both of them. Anime's good, and so is Manga. Its a hard decision.
chemist
i think that both are amazing...thats draw biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
sen ed
Whatever came first. Which(for what I watch/read) is usually the manga.
Kal Rommel
With Fullmetal Alchemist, I blew off the manga because I thought the anime was WAY better. And for awhile, it was...But now that Fullmetal Alchemist is over, and I've watched the movie...I LOVE the manga.
Usually manga appeals to me more.
Yush, the anime is pretty, but the manga , as everyone else has said, goes way deeper than the anime.
And some manga are great without being anime. Sometimes, you don't want them to become an anime, because it would tarnish the beauty and the original artwork that makes the manga so awesome ^^
And the same goes for some anime being better than the manga.
It really varies, but I think I like manga a little bit better ^^;;;

I'll say.. um, it evens out.

Anime and manga varies on how much the tone and mood goes. Like for some: Yu Yu Hakusho the anime is definitely way more interesting that the manga version. So that's to say, there are some anime out there that are more interesting than manga while there are some manga out there that is much more favorable than anime.

But then again, for manga, you read it so you have develope your own sense of perspectiveness.

Anime is just filled with effects and background sounds so you don't really have to picture anything. Although sometimes the dubbed voices are scary.

i like manga better cause i have lost my cable for about 7 years now....my mom won't let me have it...sniff..........snifff....cryy........tears..falling...sniff.
JadeAlchemist
For me it's always the manga. The plot is usually more interesting and I don't even want to mention the irritating fillers in anime.dry.gif

But then again, anime's in nice colours and the japanese voice actors är really great.^^ Also the music is often very good.

Unfortunately, I have to stick with the terrible swedish voice actors where I live. Really, they're so bad they could make anyone vomit. And the only anime we have here in Sweden are Digimon, Pokémon, Sailor Moon, Yu-gi-oh!, Transformers and Beyblade. It's horrible. They use the same voice actors for every single one of these series, and believe me; they suck (excuse me).
That's apparently another reason that made me stick to manga. XD Even if it's a little odd.
Vash_the_Gunslinger
I like watching anime, but manga delves deeper into the story than anime can. Manga can also be carried around and read at any time. Anime has its benefits, but manga makes the series more and more interesting.
Edamame
I believe that it is a matter of personal preferance, but I usually prefer the manga series over the anime. With manga I find that the plots are generally more in-depth and the characters are more developed. I love the original artwork of the authors/illustrators. Manga forces me to use my imagination and recreate the world and the characters whereas the anime usually brings that world to life. However there are times when the anime series in preferable above the anime for obvious reasons. I love the anime Escaflowne, but realised that the manga was nowhere near the world that the anime brought to life. Somtimes, the manga and the anime differ completely and I really enjoy seeing the differences.
InsaneFangirl
I think it depends on the series.

FullMetal Alchemist, for example, I perfer the anime. The music is BEAUTIFUL, voice acting is perfection (in my eyes), and I don't truthfully like the art of the manga as much as I do other series.

Fruits Basket, the anime can't compare. The anime leaves over half the story out, has bad voice acting, the music isn't too great, and everything's really slow, as if it's trying to be panel after panel, exactly like the manga.
Lysander
Well, I think that it also depends on the series but it also sides with one's own opinion.

Like for some cases, the drawing is better in the anime than the manga and that particular person likes how the character looks, but that's not the only factor that has to be considered. But I personally like the anime better because it's...actually i don't know why I like the series better blink.gif . But for some animes i prefer the manga. biggrin.gif
ArctheLad13
I usually like the manga better. But in some series I like the anime better.
ed_rocks_my_skull
Usually I would say anime is better but in FMA cases the seiries goes on longer and there are more things that go on such as LING!!! (haha Ling rules all except for Ed!) and you cant take anime on the road and sucky family gatherings... unless you have a portable DVD player...but I dont. so manga tends to rule all

ArctheLad13 you have a funny avatar!!! XDDD
Spades.n.Blades
i like the manga and anime at times but i think Anime is better
shiro-chan
manga. definitely manga. especially with FMA. Ling is so cool!!! fillers in other anime tend to get out of hand.
Kitty Alchemist
Manga. I like the art works and the detail.
Innocent-malice
Manga. anime tends to have too many fillers for my taste. Besides the artist get credit for their art instead of the directors.
Precis
Well... anime fillers are generally pretty gross, and I like manga because I can take it anywhere with me and read it whenever I want (On several occasions I've found myself going out to see a movie, and sitting in the theater reading instead XD). But I can't sit there watching anime at school or anything T_T. I guess... it really depends on which series. Naruto for example, I'm not really a huge fan of the anime, but the manga is pretty good. Though, when it comes to stuff like Bleach I think I prefer the anime.
SharpShooterHawkeye
@Precis~ I have to disagree with you on that one. The manga for Bleach is much better than the anime. Although the anime's okay too.

I enjoy manga a bit more than anime, simply because I am a bookworm and love reading on general principle.
Fushi
Depends on the series really.

But manga is more convienant and cheaper....
piggy
id say manga.

the manga is the original story and it doesnt mess up the author's plot cause IT IS what the author wrote :]

i always say never read the manga before watching the anime. it messes everything up O_O;;

lol but anime is fun :] its clearer and more easy to comprehend.
tho it changes A LOT of important things that come out in the manga.
sometimes it changes the WHOLE thing. [like FMA ><]
Hikari_Hawkeye
That depends. The manga shows a more detailed idea of the world you see in the anime. And if you doesn't understand an anime episode (no matter how many times you watch it) the manga helps. I guess that I like manga more.

Depends on the series really.

Exactly. ( i.e. The Negima! anime is great(and there are some things I prefer over the manga) but the manga beats it hands down.)
