Guilty pleasures. You know, things that you really shouldn't like, but like anyway. What are all of yours?


To start us off, I myself have a closet love of Magical Girl anime. Gratuitous transformation sequences, cheesy melodrama, sparkly magical fighting, overdoses of cuteness, fun loli costumes, the works; I just adore the stuff.

I've also been known to enjoy mindless, catchy pop-rock.

Anyone care to add?

Hmm... mine is a long list if you mean guilty pleasures that I hide from school chums but here we go: Anime , J-Rock, VK, Moulin Rouge, being seriously ambiguous, being a vegetarian? (my friends still don't know ), chick flicks in general, Let Me Be With You and other j-pop, being online a lot, shonen-ai/yaoi, chips/dairy... gah, I should really cut this stuff out of my diet some time soon... Oh yeah, and acting/typing like a total woman

My guilty pleasures are...hmm...Only thing I can think of at the moment is shounen-ai and fluffy/smutty fanfics

nooooo dont follow that path celes...you know where it leads don't you?! it ends in the dungeons of yaoi. ew haha actually one of my friends was watching some shounen-ai anime too. whats up with girls and boyXboy lol.

I'm afraid of that myself. But yaoi still disgusts me so I'm safe for now And boy x boy has the same appeal for girls that girl x girl has for most guys...Also, some girls just think shounen-ai's cute.

Shoujo-ai is girl on girl stuff. And sorry, but I don't know of any being that I'm not interested in it

Shounen-ai. It means "Boy love". Just as Shoujo ai means "Girl love". I like them and het equally. It dosen't really make a difference to me.


That reminds me; fanfiction is a big guilty pleasure of mine. (Seeing as it seems many writers turn up their nose at it, as it's "Not real literature" and all that shizz) I just love writing pseudo-intellectual character introspectives, and angst-like-burning. ("Flangst" is one of my big guilty pleasures too. <3)

o yea shoujo-ai. haha. your avatar just reminded me of something really funny i did yesterday. i was at my mom's friends house, and they had a karoke machine, and i was browsing through the songs, and i found the sailor moon theme haha. i admit i sang it, and it was pretty catchy:

she never ran from a real fight...

Bah, all that stuff kills your brain. I just think its sick.

I'm not into incest at all, call me a prude but it just doesn't rock my socks. Especially when say, younger kids are involved. Which is another yaoi pet peve of mine.

Anyway, there's something about taking a character you know and love, and seeing her get violated in every which way, on the whims of some perverted fan's imagination that I just can't resist. It's like victimless voyeurism.


The guro thing is just a curiosity. And I haven't really been looking at it at all lately. You seen one anime girl get gutted and dismembered, you seen 'em all.

- reorganizing things. like my room, playlist, desktop, files, buddylists....
- straightening things. if there's a pile of papers or books not perfectly piled up with its sides parallel to the desk edges, i go and straighten it up. i do to my friends' rooms too.
- fixing misspelled words in thread titles, or uncapitalizing certain words in thread titles. it drives me crazy when i see threads labeled "Roy And Riza," and i have to make the "And" lowercase. i blame that on my 4 years of high school spent solely in the journalism room.
- tormenting Goldfish
- eating ham or other cold cuts plain and directly from the fridge
- looking up random words in my Japanese dictionary. my poor dictionary's so battered and abused.

I'm the same. I've actually gotten an e-mail from someone who was trying to convert me to elricest. (Or at least argue their viewpoint.) I've read the articles, and I see the possibility and canonocity of it, but maybe I'm just a prude or a hypocrite, for feeling that taking things to that level is... wrong. (Maybe it is hypocrisy. I'm all for the whole 'love is love' stance, but I think a line should be drawn when it gets to close relations... and children... and animals... >>;; )

(The whole feminizing thing in yaoi bugs me too. Maybe I should rant in petpeeves instead of here, though.)

Ummmm...

All the pretty sensual imagery in Revolutionary Girl Utena. I'm not generally like that for most characters, but I just love the way Anthy and Utena look together when they're embracing/dancing/nearly kissing, etcetera. It's so beautiful. (And not in a couple-ish way, even; I just like the aesthetic appeal of them together. ;; ) I guess that is what turns some shy people off of the series. ('It looks so... lesbian-ish... is that okay? o.O' XD)
