It could be seen as highly offensive to anyone who has ties to the horrors of nazi germany.

Thoughts:

- Daughter's birthday is tomorrow
- Some of the conversations going on should probably take place in more appropriate threads (i.e. sig thread for one)
- I have to go into town tomorrow. I hope I don't miss my train - the next one isn't for another hour.
- I like going into town when it's not rush hour and that's when I'm going in tomorrow smile.gif

While scrolling through the threads, I found much to ignore. It's getting increasingly irritating when I have to sift through the crap to read a decent post. It's mainly newbies and those who THINK they have trancended the newbie status. I ask to you to think before posting, get on your knees and ask god if your post is really worth making. If god doesn't answer that means no.

Oh who am I kidding, there is no cure for stupidity. This forum's going to the dogs.

Ninja, I have not successfully microwaved a bag of popcorn in the last month. In fact, one of the times, a smoldering ball of burnt popcorn at the bottom caught fire. I haven't determined if it is the microwave being to powerful, or they just make these products crappier.

laugh.gif i have a "popcorn" button on my microwave, and usually i just hit the button and let the microwave do its thing. a few at the bottom get a little burnt, but so far nothing's burst into flame (hmm, now i'm craving popcorn).

i was just making chocolate cupcakes with walnuts to sell at a kiwanis meeting tomorrow, and as i don't have much to do, i sat in front of the oven for 15 minutes and watched them bake (and now i can cross "watching cupcakes bake" off of my list of things to do before i die). which is a good thing because some of the walnuts on top started smoking. and then my mom came in and laughed at my ugly cupcakes, and i told her that they're beautiful on the inside and that's what counts, but i don't think she heard me. -___-

- Has anyone here ever gone to the Metropolitan Opera House? I need some reliable information.

You mean the New York one right? I've been there a couple of times for various reasons...If there's something I can help you with, Quistis, I'm here.
Quistis88
Ohh, excellent! Basically, I'd like to know if you know of any big premieres in history that have occurred there, what it looks like inside, which famous opera performers have performed there, etc. Mainly the history aspect of it.
blueices
ouch that's quite a bit..I'm sure you've seen the website, but the pictures don't really do Lincoln center justice...(and the opera house happens to be a building south of it)

I can help with aspects of how it looks...but in terms of its History, I haven't learned enough yet. I will be seeing Carmen there april 2nd though so I look forward to it.
The first opera I saw there was an English one and it was an adaptation of "Mice and Men" (didn't like it) laugh.gif

might this help? (you may have seen it already)

mei_tenshi
Mei's arm is about to fall off. She spent the night working on her senior project, which consisted of measuring, tracing, retracing, erasing, tracing over with a black marker, Scotch-taping, more tracing, an epic battle with the Scotch-tape that wouldn't come off, and finally--recording it all in her log.

Then came cramming for the Physics test tomorrow. Then government notes. And now...here.
blueices
poor mei, blue also must study and read.

@Quistis: Hope I was able to be of some help, don't know how soon you need this info.

--If you have a long time to go then I could actually snap some pics for you if you would like. (This coming wednesday I'm going to be heading down there to buy student discount tickets for madama butterfly)

Random Thoughts:
-Something about the metopera site is weird since I can't find Carmen anywhere on this season's schedule...maybe my teacher is mistaken and got us tickets to something else? I'll have to send him an email....
-must go do work now...and chug redbull...Good night everybody

Have you ever had one of those teachers who like to make the first exam incredibly hard, tricking you into studying your ass off for the next exam (i.e. spending a grand total of 20 hours in the library and 2 notebooks within 3 days), and then piss you off by making the second exam incredibly easy you actually finished early and even spent about 15 minutes being suspicious?

Well, the exam was the only thing I'm feeling good about. Right now I still have a headache from lack of sleep and tons of work to do for my other classes I had neglected the past few days.

Ah, well. At least I know I have a chance in Calculus.

@bacon: Damn, you were absent for a while and came back with a bunch of new threads. What are you not telling us?

- The MakeAWish meeting was a little depressing. Apparently, the Dinner was getting negative publicity, due to an editorial in the school newspaper about teachers bribing students for donations. As a result, two table-hosts backed out, and there's a lot of grumbling at the administrative level. This will be the last MakeAWish event that our school will sponsor--which is sad. The MakeAWish Foundation is really doing a good thing for kids with cancer and diseases, kids that probably have only a few years to live. This year's Wish Child (age 7) has muscular dystrophy; he's already in a wheel-chair and chances are, he only has two years to live. Usually, the donations go towards a Disneyworld trip, but our Wish Child wants to be in a swimming pool on a boat, so he's getting a Disney Cruise with his familiy--probably the last trip they'll have together. We're really trying to do something good, here, and it's just frustrating that some people are associating this event with bribery and underhanded donation-raising tactis.

That's rather inconsiderate of all those people who pulled out on the project. Things like that upset me, really. Does it really matter if it looks like bribery? As long as it raises money for the less fortunate, it shouldn't matter all that much. Also, people who give up on charities because it's too much work . . . ugh. All the stuff I used to organize or help organize back in high school is no longer existent because people are apparently too lazy to do anything.
