--College is a seriously wonderful place where you learn about who you are and what you want in and/or from life. I'm sure you will have a rollicking good time once you're there.
--Okay, since when do kids have such horrible feelings towards each other that they try with all their might to physically harm each other? How is it that they learned that's okay? (I get animal instinct when you're threatened, but being teased about liking someone should never
be grounds for choking.)
--My friend and I had the best time talking about what we want in men. Apparently, the summary for my exact wants is a sweet, kind, smart, funny, and just generally decent guy who can mostly appreciate or put up with my quirks, set me straight when I'm wrong (but not when I'm right), and be chivalrous without being chauvinistic. I know nobody's perfect, though, so... how to put this without sounding like I'll never be satisfied... I'll find someone that I'm sure I'll be happy with, and if he has those qualities, great! (If not, well, I'll still be happy, so it won't matter, then, will it?)
--That conversation led to this exchange:
Me: I want a guy who will defend my honor, but who will also let me be his tag-team partner in that.
My friend (imitating me): Kill him! No, wait--beat him to a bloody pulp and let me
finish him off!
--She wants a guy like her dad, and I can understand that--her dad's a great guy! (So's mine, and I did mostly describe my dad, but my dad is as stubborn as I am, even though I prefer to avoid conflict. Well, we'll see how this all works out in 10 or 20 years...)
--Soooooo... I don't quite have this new oven down just yet. I forgot to adjust the temperature for convection baking and wound up singeing 1/4 of my batch of peanut butter-chocolate chip cookies and (after adjusting the temperature) under-baking another 1/2 of the batch.
