Answer: If the Good Book says it's wrong, it's wrong.
That good enough for you?
I strongly disagree with the the first statement and answer 'No' for the second. I don't go to the Bible for my standard of right and wrong. I don't go to the Bible for my values, either. Am I a bad person because I don't believe in the Christian god? Does that make me evil? I'd like to think not, and I hope my Christian friends agree. But that's beside the point. So is the Bible. The Bible should not dictate legal rights. Separation of church and state, remember?

Though, it was mostly black people that voted for the passing of Prop 8 in California while only some were whites. Same thing for the people of Florida!
Surprising? Very...
Not really. A lot of blacks are very religious. Where are you going with this?

Then what do you call our 'swearing to tell the Truth, whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth, so help you God' while placing a hand on the Bible in a State courthouse?

It's an oath to tell the truth in court (the TV version), but that's it. Witnesses can choose different versions of the oath according to their beliefs. They can even decide not to swear on a deity at all, as long as they affirm that they will tell the truth.

Are you going to bring up "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, too?

- Ick, next week is going to suck. I'm not sure if even Veterans Day holiday would be enough to alleviate some of the work load.

- For the first time in a long time, I had a dream that I can remember...and it's about my dad dying? Why can't I get happy dreams anymore? Something like the one where I go on a spy mission with a charming male partner? Unfortunately, that dream ended mid-mission. And on a cliff-hanger, too. =(

I'm very glad this week's over. School is going to be great next week because of 3 days where we have short schedules (2 late starts and one noon dismissal), an assembly on Monday, and, of course, we have Veteran's Day off.

I'm also glad this week's over because this week was... not fun. We watched "Dry White Season" in Contemporary Catholicism to understand death and resurrection as a metaphor. You know, "dying" to an old way and "rising" to something better.

Well, the first day we watched it, it was so violent that I had to leave the room. I know that it's an important issue to know about, but the fact that it is reality made it worse. I actually was almost sick. I had to go to the counseling center and when I got there, it took half an hour for me to go from near-hysterics to some semblance of put together.

My friend's dog had to be put down this week, too, so it's just been a depressing week in general. even the weather is bad.

*sighs* Just gotta let it go, though. It can only get better.

Psh, he ain't leading them, though.

Not that I'm trying to start anything. I've heard enough OMG OBAMA WON OMG HE'S JESUS LOL CHANGE for one week. It just gets old after awhile. Especially when your friends guilt you into trying to support him. [And yes, I'm speaking from personal experience]

But whatever. Nothin' I can do about it. P:

^ Not trying to continue anything (though I guess I'm doing it anyway tongue.gif ), but from what I've observed in the last few months, the folks who are truly, really enthusiastic about supporting Obama are fully aware that he's NOT Jesus, the savior, messiah, etc. They (we, I should say) know he won't fix everything, and that what he does accomplish won't happen overnight--and admitting this is part of his appeal, I think. I totally understand that many of his followers--especially the younger ones--can overhope, and yes, that gets annoying pretty quickly. Rabid fans are annoying regardless of the object of their obsession.

I should stop expounding on my positions. It makes procrastination too easy. D:

Yeah, most of the supporters I've run into are the young ones that do have that mindset. The rational ones like you said, I have respect for...the groupie type? Not so much.

I'm torn. For Christmas, my mom said she'll get one gift, a games system. I have to decide between a Wii and a Xbox 360. The Wii has some awesome games in it's own right, but the 360 has quite a few awesome games. It has Eternal Sonata, which I wanna play, and 2 awesome Naruto games. But the Wii also has 2 good Naruto games, and some other fun ones. The PS3 looks promising as well...I wonder what the lowest price to get one of those is...

My dad thinks the other IT assistant (another fellow fan) and I should take off in the middle of day during lunch break to see it. Heh. Fortunately, our bosses are Jewish, so we get out of work at 12:30 on Fridays. Yay!

Current thoughts:

-Payday this week...and new glasses! 8D
-And the above means I can start my driving lessons!

So, about 20 more episodes until Naruto is finished. As much as I want it to end, with all these fillers, I still like how it's much more lighthearted than Shippuden.

Speaking of Shippuden, the manga is on a 2-week hiatus...damn D:

I didn't know celebrating Christmas was mandatory for citizenship! D: Inhuman, I would agree. Who wouldn't want to stress over what to give their loved ones and/or how much to spend on it? It's not enough just to worry about birthdays and anniversaries. And please, tell us about the Jews! I like stories.
