The swim team started again, and I'm very offended. I was placed in the lane where the slowest kids/ beginners go. ;_; And I was so mad because every time I was doing really good, the coach wasn't even watching D:< I don't even think he remembers I was ever on the swim team last year... Well, he probably does, because he must have remembered the time he talked to my mom and said, "Oh, your daughter will never make it to varsity swimming; she's got no muscle." (Thanks for the encouragement, coach ) I hope he moves me to a faster lane. Otherwise, I'll just... be very, very sad. =(
On a happier note, we had bus drills today and the school day just flew by.

I tilled up the garden with a shovel and my bare hands. I love the smell of dirt and playing with it when it's all nice and moist. A hoe would probably be more efficient, but you use what you have.
Yanked a few pounds of weeds from there as well. It's amazing; just as soon as the snow clears (And it was about two- three inches of snow spanning over the entirety of the garden and beyond just three days ago) the whole area is covered in green and purple creeping-charlie and green-ing grass patches. It wasn't so bad. I liked getting my hands dirty and it became a fairly simple procedure of grabbing overturned clumps and shaking the roots free of dirt and tossing the weeds into a pile.
I should start a compost heap. I've never kept one before. It should be useful.
I plan on growing my own veggies for cooking. I also hope to find some strawberry and raspberry plants to plant around our store building.

It wasn't so bad. I liked getting my hands dirty and it became a fairly simple procedure of grabbing overturned clumps and shaking the roots free of dirt and tossing the weeds into a pile.
I should start a compost heap. I've never kept one before. It should be useful.
I plan on growing my own veggies for cooking.
I also hope to find some strawberry and raspberry plants to plant around our store building.

@ Quis- Because celery is such a hollow food source. It does't provide much besides chlorophyl and water and doesn't taste that great either. And it's too stringy. The leaves make a nice garnish for soup, though.

Hmm... I'm starting up on the massive task of spring cleaning. Gonna get rid of a lot of stuff, even though I still like or feel the aching pack-ratty need to save it 'just in case'.
I still feel weird dropping some of this at a thrift store (I'm weird about that; I'd like to know some of my more well-liked stuff gets a good home) especially since some of the clothes I'm getting rid of are still good/cute, so ladies, (Or at least, those of you I'd call friends around here) if you'd like any of my stuff, talk to me, and you can have a present of clothing touched by the almighty Toby shipped to you (at your expense; I'm not made of money! S+H fees apply.)

Well I have not posted on here for some time, due to I tried out for the Royal Australian Defence Force and well I passed, they want me to join up at the end of the year as an officer. Well im really happy about that.

@ the subject of instant noodles- recently the taste of regular ramen noodles has become completely unappetizing to me. I don't know why. It's something with the noodles themselves, I think. Plain ultra-thin rice noodles are a fairly good alternative, though, and just as cheap. (Though they usually don't come with seasoning as I buy them unless they're in instant bowls.) Maybe my body is just growing more sensitive to crappy foods, even the mildly crappy ones.
Other thoughts, mostly garden-related again:
I gots me a Hoe! (Though not a ho.) I don't know why I didn't see it yesterday; I just didn't look hard enough. Oh well, same amount of effort involved, really. Did a second tilling and yanked up a bunch of the weeds I turned over and missed yesterday.
All in all, I gathered a heaping wheelbarrow full of weeds, mostly creeping-charlies. Which is remarkable with such a small space. As revenge against the weeds for having way too many roots and taking up my garden space, they're getting spread out on the concrete and dried up mercilessly to be used as compost. >:}
My back is sore. I'm so out of shape. It's so weird; all winter I basically never had anything better to do and yet I still couldn't be bothered to get up and exersize somehow. But now that the sun is out and the weather is nice enough to keep windows open, I feel totally psyched to try something else out even after the physical labor in the garden. It's weird. But I think that winter just makes a body lazy. But now that the air is fresh and the sun is out and the birds are singing, I'm all "Oh hellz yeah! Let's go get some physical activity goin' up in hurr!"
Decided to start sprouting the peas indoors first so that the squirrels don't come dig them up. I had that problem with corn one year. They look bizarre. They're shaped like peas, but they're all funny colors and freckled. Are snow peas usually like that and we just never notice because we simply eat the pods whole?
