-I started page 3131... Planning to buy a lottery ticket with the number but I am still underage hahha... XD
-Today is a rather hectic day... Teachers that supposed to be in schools are all out of school to do assignments or held meetings... It took me a few hours to get my stuffs verified... which only takes me about 10 minutes... Waited 2 hours for a 10minute task... sleep.gif

St. Patty's day was good. I got hammered on Irish Car Bombs and Tullemore Dew... we hung out AT THE GAYBAR!

AND OMFG! MY GODDAMNED CAR GOT BROKEN INTO FOR THE SECOND TIME IN TWO MONTHS!! SRSLYWTFBBQ!!!!11111eleventyone

I'm too pissed off right now to even read the rest of the thread...

At least they didn't actually steal anything this time. Becuase I had the faceplate off of my stereo. But they completely ransacked the contents of my car looking for the faceplate so they could steal my stereo. The contents of my TRUNK are currently in the backseat of my car. And they f**ked up the lock on my passenger side. Time to call the insurance company AGAIN... grrr...


Hope everyone else's life sucks a little bit less... XD

@Kenji: I really doubt it with my mother. You don't know her so you don't what kind of person she is, but she's one of those people who never changes. She still has the teenage girl mentality at age 42.

-Confirmed with father and grandfather. The castle I found is the one our ancestors owned. Both already knew the stuff about it now being a hotel. My grandfather told me some other things about the non Scottish sides of the family...so many people on my father's side of the family were freakin' loaded, holy shit. O_O
No wonder my family has had a knack for sucess. O_o;;;

Today was "mismatch day" at school, and I got really mad at my friend because she was like, "Omigosh! I'll totally dress for mismatch day if you do!" and so I got carried away and dressed extremely mismatched, and I come to school today and she was wearing normal clothes. dry.gif

In gym today, I didn't have to swim (yippee!) because the life guard didn't show up. =D

My thoughts:
- I have so much homework

After that we go to a Japanese restraunt (yum, sushi smile.gif ) and "if time allows" we go to a "Japanese" bookstore which is crammed with manga =P I think it shall be a good day smile.gif

So if the rest of the class goes back to the way they were, I will spare them the talk on Friday...but if i get a bunch of evil glares and people acting wierd...yeah...i have the speech all set and ready to go tongue.gif

@Steel-Yeah, i remember in high school we used to have "Spirit Week" the week of homecoming and every day was another way to stupidly dress up. Oh, jebus.

My brother, who didn't catch the bus this morning, decided to take dad's truck to school. (Would've walked like normal, had it not been for his sprained ankle)

He doesn't even have a learner's permit, let alone a driver's lisence.

He hit someone's jeep.

One of my classmate's jeep.

Appartently, the whole school knew before I did.

I found out from friends who wanted to know if it was true or not.

Dad came home early. Bro's gotta go to the police station later tonight to fill out a report. Possibly 5 charges will be pressed against him and he will have to pay at least 6 gran for the damages.

Wtf, that is so not like him. My friends who don't even like him couldn't believe he did it - they all thought it was bullshit rumors. I can't believe he did it. My dad can't believe he did it. He himself can't even believe what he just did.

He didn't even get mad when I snapped at him, and he always retaliates when I yell at him.

And on top of all this, my friend was upset all day today because her friend back in the city she moved here from went to get tested for cancer today, and appartently they took samples of everything they could, not just blood. And I had no idea how to comfort her at all.

Yet again I miss another day of school because of not having a car.
And today I miss out on a math’s test.
I’m also slowly getting behind in Japanese. Oh what fun. All this is doing for me is reminding me how I have a test on Thursday. It can’t be too bad as all I have to do is talk to the exchange students.
On the weekend I did a chainsaw course. That went fine. But 2 days later my right hand still hurts.

Damn... I've gotten all soft and squishy over the winter. I just pulled the treadmill out of storage [hadn't used it since I fell off it and hurt myself a few months ago] and I could see my reflection while I was using it and... and... IT WAS JIGGLY!

OH LORD, IT WAS HORRIBLE!

...I'm gonna run half a mile every day for the next 6 months... as soon as this f*cking snow melts.

Well, an ongoing theme in the class is "growing up", and what the stories say about this issue that everyone has to deal with--unless you're Peter Pan. We talked a lot about what kind of character Peter is and what his role is in the grand scheme of things: is he the embodiment of the inner child that never wants to grow up? The narrator says he's a paradox--in what way? What's his relationship with the Lost Boys, Wendy, the Darlings, Hook, etc., and how do they fit in with the images of "childhood" that Barrie sets up in Neverland?

Along with Peter Pan, we also read an article that focuses on gender roles in the story, so we touched on Wendy's role of the make-believe mother, always keeping house rather than joining in on the adventures. The article suggests that there's a clear division between what boys and girls do when playing make-believe (which in turn suggests what they aspire to do/be)--the boys fight pirates and the girls play house. But then, a bunch of people (mei included) found that we can relate to the adventuresome boys as well, even though we're girls. (Well, women, actually. BTW, there's only one guy in the class, aside from one of the instructors. tongue.gif) And that discussion went back to how Peter is a paradoxical character: He only grudgingly accepts Wendy as the Lost Boys' mother; he's very anti-adult. But when he's alone at the house in Neverland, he obediently drinks the "medicine" given to him by Wendy, as an adult should. (Unlike Mr. Darling, who didn't drink his medicine and gave it to the dog as a prank instead--quite childish of him.)

And then there's the violence. Of course. How easily the children kill adults. Granted, they were pirates, but still. Michael once made a comparison between the pirate he killed and his father, which we thought was rather strange.

We talked about a whole lot of other things, too, but mei can't recall them all. (And doubts the general forum public would want to read it all. tongue.gif)

This is the first time mei read Peter Pan, and she never saw the Disney film in its entirety, but wow, is it dark! And depressing. =\

Peter Pan is totally Freudian. laugh.gif (Well, maybe not totally, but close enough. tongue.gif) While Peter isn't interested in Wendy in that way, Wendy certainly wants him to be. (Does that make it a reverse Oedipus complex? Oh, the Jocasta complex! ohmy.gif) Tink, too, is constantly frustrated with Peter. Actually, mei thought it was funny how clueless he was. (The thimble/kiss thing, not recognizing Tink's jealousy, etc.)

mei: Peter Pan in Scarlett is a good sequal, and it would be another great one to read for gender. Especially with what happens to one of the Lost Boys.

I can't get some of the images from Pan's Labyrinth out of my head, I knew it would be dark but geez.

Got a meeting with our client later. Got to show him some price sheets and statistics and demographics and all the fun of the fair. Should be interesting when he no doubt turns round and tells us they have no budget so we can't do anything we've proposed.

I think I’m going to find out just how much caffeine my body can handle in addition to that is the whole not sleeping thing.
I wonder how long the human body last without sleep.
Since I came back from Japan the coffee has been bitter.
I just had a really wired feeling come over me. I think I’m going to start tripping out in a minute.

@Tombow Thanks. I don’t think I’ll give up on Japanese. May give up on the accelerated course but not Japanese itself.
