Yes, it was one of the very, very first internation anime series (direct translation would be the Fist of the Big Dipper or the Fist of the Great Bear, but of course Fist of the North Stat sounds better in English). By today's standard it is of course pretty straightforward in the story department and not that well animated, but it is one of the original trailblazers of anime and deserves respect for establishing our hobby today.
Kenshiro is the original strong silent type, and soooooooooooo many characters in today's anime pay homage to him: Chad from Bleach, Mori from Ouran, Sig from FMA... the list goes on and on.
In Berserker and Great Teach Onizuka they actually rip him off directly, and mention him by name.
They are starting a new series called the Fist of the Blue Sky which looks promising...
I get a slight hint that you may like this show... 
I recall a live action version which was...special. BUt I do remember he series being enjoyable. I'll have to find it again.

Heart of Madness has started to sub the whole series properly, they are up to ep. 105.
It is not so much that I like show (which I do), but more that I respect it. I fully acknowledge that current top of the crop of anime and manga is better (as it should, with its bigger budget and teams, and build-up experience), but remember what Iscaac Newton once said:
"If I have seen a little further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants."
It is like my grandfathers who fought at WW2: they might be old now and no match for someone in their prime, but they should be respected for what they did.

I'll let the brat play.The graphics make me think of Windwaker tho. The way they're coloured. I'm tempted to say 'cel-shaded' but it makes me think more of 'oil paintings'...
Cel-shaded strikes me as being more shiny....
