Don't you have any friends that are free and aren't in your grade so they would be able to go? Or don't go to your school? If not, you can totally take your cousin whom you can say is your old friend from your old neighborhood. Dating your cousin is totally hotter than taking a cardboard cut out.
Sadly, I have discussed all of these options. I promise you, I have exhausted them. My mom was the one who brought up the cousin thing, only it was to say, "Too bad you don't even have any cool cousins your age."
Here, I'll even list out the potential friend duos/dates and why they couldn't come-
Kate and Shelby- Think prom is lame.
Emily- Said yes, but then her mom forbid her
David- Ran away. Probably never see him again. He was a good friend while it lasted.
Russ- College, and he's going to europe for a choir thing
Ron- College. Gay, but a fun date; has finals and projects and other things to bog him down
Miles- (Childhood friend- another school) Has a church thing.
Signe/Tony/Shannon/Lucas- Having a big promgoing team. It's likely that I'll tag awkwardly along with them.
There was even a brief period where I was thinking about asking that cute junior girl in my Spanish class, but we don't know each other too well, and I wouldn't want to estrange her with some sort of... 'gay vibe' and kill a potenial friendship.
I'll manage on my own; I just have a thing... where I feel like I'm always an inconvenience to people, so I don't know if I'll be able to even handle getting a ride when these guys have already made plans. I know that they don't dislike me, but I still hate feeling like people are going out of their way or changing things for me, maybe even out of pity.
I need to grow a friggin' backbone.
