@Meimei: I think I am the same kind of way. Dairy upsets my tummy, but not as bad as lactose intolerant people are. I forget, but I think I read somewhere that cow milk is difficult to break down and takes like 3-4 hours to digest or something like that? But my tummy can hurt as soon as like, 5 minutes after eating a bowl of cereal, especially Peanut Butter Capn' Crunch, yumm...
Just did some research (i.e., mei read an article on Wikipedia.
) and it seems that most East Asians lack the enzyme that absorbs lactase into the bloodstream, and so the lactase goes into the digestive system and the digestive system can't hack it. Apparently, some dairy products contain less lactase than others, and the level of intolerance is different from person to person, so some foods may actually be okay to eat. Like, mei's mom is lactose intolerant, but she can still eat cheese and some ice cream, whereas mei's brother's tummy goes all volcanic whenever he consumes any
dairy product without a Lactaid pill.

i remember something about as you get older the less 'tolerant' you are for lactose....but that could just be rumors and old wive's tales.
'Tis true. Some people stop producing the enzymes as they get older.
Oooh, so hungry. Gotta go find something (non-dairy) to eat. Sushi!
Oooh, honey citron tea. Honey citron-y goodness!
