ehh, i have a lot of troulble with the simplified characters too. i think the only one i really know for sure is "guo," but i've been writing the traditional way since i was a kid, and i can write the complicated version faster than i can write the simplified version. why did they teach us the traditional way for all these years, only to spring the simplified way and pinyin on us now?

i also have trouble reading my mom's printing. sometimes, when i'm really on a time crunch, she'll write out some of my chinese homework on stratch paper and have me copy it down once i get to class....except i can't read some of it, and for those words i try to imitate her exact squiggle so it looks like i knew what i was writing.

i remember the old days when we all had post counts in the low-mid hundreds, and were amazed when kase, viki and the others made it over 1000, and thought "fuhrer" might be 3000 or so.

I never even noticed that it is slowly approaching 9000. This is what happens when you have to deal with all these n00bs. The same thing will probably happen to you and Ailuro when I'm gone for half of the summer and the kids-with-nothing-to-do start pouring in. Such is the life of a mod.

Not that it will actually work. The fun time has been sucked away, never to return. Everything is getting more and more annoying by the day, and that does not exclude the older members. Awe. My sister (Sarah) left for her senior prom a little ways ago. She had this really flattering pink dress that had ruffles for the "skirt" part, and her boyfriend is wearing a white tux with an almost-but-not-quite-however-you-can't-tell-the-difference pink vest. They're so adorable together! YEAH! She's a dark-haired tan girl and he's a pale and freckled red-head.
---WE TOOK A LEAST A FEW HUNDREAD PICTURES! And I'm not exaggerating.... I can still see the flashes in my eye-sight-vision.
-----Last year when my oldest sister (Erin) had her senior prom, Sarah kissed Erin's boyfriend! On the check though. So while we were taking pictures, Sarah's boyfriend did the "drop" kiss. ON THE LIPS! HA! Erin wins.
--Then Sarah's boyfriend went around kissing everyone else. That was fun.

Wish I was going to prom - after prom anyway. I helped decorate after prom. They're doing a "Hollywood Red Carpet Affair" theme. One of the moms got a giant roll of paper that looks like a sidewalk, and the kids are going to paint their hands and sign them! Hurumph! I want to go! Half the school is decorated for this thing! O well.... When it comes my turn to get the chance to go to prom - you better believe I'm going to make sure that we have the best after prom in the state!

i almost feel like i should be more excited for my own senior prom.

then again, spending $85 to sit alone idly by the dance floor is always exciting. but i'm sure ours is going to be really good again, and it's at the Palace Hotel in SF this year, but i'm pretty much only looking forward to dressing up, eating, and post-prom hanging out.

and speaking of prom, a few of my friends are going with junior friends to the junior prom tonight, so there go any potential dinner plans, bah.

@ guest: i sort of know what you mean; things really were different back then. i can't stop coming here, since i'm pretty addicted, but too often i'm annoyed with other things/members, and also myself for how i act here. (and re: the pm: he's in my prayers. i really hope that things work out.)

- doh. i need to pay attention when i'm filling out my college matriculation blah forms, i just put down my best friend's phone number instead of mine. (that happens a lot now, i try to dial home but i end up dialing her house. she doesn't mind, since she does it even more than i do.

Present thoughts:

-Damn I'm tired. I went to a cosplay picnic today it was a lot of fun. I sported my Haruko costume from FLCL. We took pictures and BBQed. Funniest moment of the day was when a cop pulled up and told us someone had reported were holding a sence. Why did they think this? Because someone was dressed up as Nicolas Wolfwood and had a cross punisher. I'm sure it didn't help that two people were dressed as Hogworts students and had black capes. Not to mention the Bleach cosplayer also in black.

Some people I swear.

-I also noticed some people under 21 can really get on my nerves, I ended up haging with the older group drinking beer. Horray beer!

-I'm taking the ex-Mr. Miniskirt to the bus depot tomorrow then I'll be fully single again. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it.

-I think I'll go warm up my left over Chinese food from last night. I'm hungry again.

-I just tried to upload the photos I took today to cosplay.com and their telling me the photos are too big after I cropped them as small as I could get them and it appears none of my photo programs have a resizing option. Damn you cosplay.com, damn you to hell!

I wasn't around for the good ol' days, so I can't say I've ever been nostalgic. On any community, I enjoy watching the changes. Some are painful to watch and others are enjoyable. The only thing I will say is that the communities I've hated the most were those that were not willing to accept new people into the "club". Of course there's a community standard, but that standard must be allowed to flex here and there for the community to become truly enjoyable, otherwise it's like a clique that grows stagnant very quickly.

- RE: Religious Discussions

There are too many people in the world who take their beliefs too seriously both religious and non-religious people. Mostly it's the lack of ability for people to speak and think reasonably about their beliefs that is most annoying. The passive aggressive generalization posts are the worst too as people inevitably get caught up in the intent of the author to be emotionally abrassive rather than actually read the argument (I fall for it too, but on serious forums, I get nailed for it

). Well, the Philosophical Investigations thread is open for these discussions too. Just be prepared to have all assumptions destroyed and have the fluff burned away

All this makes me want to write up my thoughts on the impossibility to obtain knowledge of any kind without a "leap of faith". Linguistic problems have been bothering me so much that I'm starting to feel that without a level of reasoned faith, we cannot even know what other people are saying. This then leads to the difficulty of determining metaphysical issues based on empirical methods or rather the need to be wary about becoming dogmatic about using empirical science as your foundation of metaphysics. It also potentially shows the reasonableness of faith in general although no specific faith can be rationed out.

Anyway, just some thoughts and driving force of some of my more recent readings. I doubt I'll actually solidify them any time soon.

Today I was diagnosed with a terrible, uncurable disease called RSAT (Really Short Attention Span). It turns out that I've had it all my life and I- *suddenly becomes bored and walks away to get a pickle*

Current Thoughts:

- This thread has now reached 11,000 posts.
- On the phone with mother right now. She got fined $172 when some cop pulled her over on the road. Apparently, she forgot to register her vehicle for this year.
- She was dropping my brother and cousins off at the Chinese school today and opened her mouth to the secretary saying, "Oh, Connie's on a break right now so if you need someone to help with office work, give her a call." The office is apparently short-handed, so they're quite busy.
- She actually thinks that I have spare time for this stuff. She didn't even ask me first. I hate it when people involve me or sign me up for something then tell me about it AFTERWARDS.

-Frick! I just love my new dress! I got it today to wear to my sister's wedding next week. It's a really lovely sage color, and... well it's hard to describe while I'm so tired, but I adore it oh so very much. And the pink jacket I'm wearing with it... and the matching shoes. <3 ::Girly squeal::
-Going dress shopping has made me realize I want to own every single dress in the world. Well... not every one, but all the cute ones. I feel so girly. ^.^ I just love dressing up.

i haven't sparred in ages, and i really need to get back into shape. when i used to go to the dojo, the girls never wanted to fight me, so i'd be stuck with the black belt guys, and they didn't want to go all out on me [because i'd get my butt kicked in seconds], so it wasn't fun for both parties. i used to be able to spar with two of my friends, who're also black belts, but one went to college and both got boyfriends. -__- so now i spar with the, um, mirror.

You could always tell them the blunt truth, that being that you actually have your hands full as is. Being nice is great and all, but you gotta stand up for yourself too mom!

Current thoughts:

- Found out one of my coworkers put in her two weeks notice. I've seen it coming for awhile now. Whenever she worked in the lab with me, she never seemed to be really putting her focus on what she was doing. Then we treid to train her to preform some of the mainteince tasks around the lab such as cleaning cemical filters and such, btu she'd just never seemed too interested. Now she puts in her two weeks notice...
- Of course, I'm not too hurt by that.

- Tonight was prom night for our local schools, so this means that the next week will be good for business
- I'm missing my Bling_bling_angel...

The best way to explain it is that Tsubasa is like CLAMP's way of providing a little fanservice to loyal CLAMP fans. They put in various characters from the different CLAMP series (Mokona from Rayearth, Chii from Chobits, Sakura and Syaoran from CCS, etc.) and is a crossover anime/manga with xxxHOLiC.

- Apparently I'm going to my friend's prom. Without a date, but with her and her date..
- I saw "Castle in the Sky" with my aforementioned friend. It's so cute. We kept commenting on it while it was playing which kept us laughing through the whole thing.
