*edit, took out link, sorry*, Thanks for helping with the lyrics I fixed the mistakes. Also sorry for not crediting tobu ishi. I didnt know who wrote it, I typed out the lyrics myself while listening to the song. So gomen. I'm really glad someone made an english version of this, I love this song. Though whenevere I hear Vic's chorus I still hear the russian Al singing with him in my head O.o.
Tobu is very good.
I'm very happy Tobu did this and sorry for not crediting her.
I also hope Tobu keeps up the good work.

Vic M (last name I cant remember), did an english version of "brothers" ^^ he's pretty good. Pitty Al isnt singing it too.
Anyway as far as I can make out these are the lyrics. The whole song is sung by Vic but I put whose verse is whose.

so I'm guessing he ment mute, esp since its added "I followed without a word."

those lyrics are tobu ishi's, please don't re-post them without crediting her. she gave him permission to sing them, but nobody seems to care that SHE WROTE them.

ah, and it's "Alas, 'twas not meant to be." not alast.

i have also contacted the website to let them know vic doesn't want the file distributed...thanks for the link.

Yup, I wrote them...let's see, how did the chain of events go?

-Tobu is baking cookies in her dorm kitchen with Bratja stuck in her head after reading an English translation and decides to do singable lyrics to it.

-Tobu shares said lyrics with online friends, who like them, and one of whom is a friend of Vic's.

-Tobu's friend shows the lyrics to Vic, who likes them too and asks permission to sing them.

-Vic and Tobu's friend sing the lyrics beautifully at a convention, making Tobu very happy, but forget to mention Tobu's name.

-Tobu's lyrics pop up everywhere, uncredited to Tobu.

-Tobu feels somewhat sad. ;_;

Thanks for the heads-up, Tokage, and thanks for the compliments, everyone! I have no objection to posting the lyrics anywhere you like, as long as the adaptation is credited to Tobu Ishi at arijanian@yahoo.com (this is important to me since I want to be a translator someday, and the more people know who did this translation, the better for my future employment

@Reika-san: The original version is sung in Russian by "BEPA" (which I think is a duo of Russian ladies, but am not completely sure), but the lyrics are from Ed/Aru's point of view.

@Tobu-san: I tried singing it too! It flows so smoothly~ *applauds again* E~to, do you suppose it would be alright if I put up an attempt of it in the Karaoke thread sometime?

(provided I include proper credit, etc...)

Well, actually, Tobu... All I was told was that they were "fan made lyrics!!11one" but there was never a name. So... that's better than nothing? ^^;;

Is this the song that was background for the younger Ed and Al parts of the Reflections special? Was that song even in Japanese? It really sounded like russian.

EDIT: I just d/led it. So much better in the other language. Doesn't really sound like Ed.

I love the translation!

Though I have a question.

When I'm singing the song I think the sencond part of Al's verse is missing because he sings something before the chorus. But there are no words there. Maybe you just left it out on the first post by accident? Or does he repeat something?

Vic left it out Tobu Ishi didn't. The verse in questions is

How could I expect to call you wrong?
How could you be blamed for what we've done
Both of us were fools in our desires
As we flew to close to the sun

And to give credit where it is due you did a great job making a english version of the song Tobu Ishi. It only shows how great FMA fans are.

Wow, you actually wrote those lyrics Tobu Ishi, they are very good.
Brothers from Full metal alchemist is one of my favourite songs. I have 2 brothers of my own but we allways fight for no reason sometimes, anyway great job Tobu Ishi.

I think i was there to hear this version at the convention... was it at Otakon 05 in full metal fantasy?? i hope so, b/c that song was absolutly incredible!!! better than one would expect. but i miss it and i want to hear it AGAIN!!! anyone know how we could convince the singer to do a single and give royaltys to the exellent Tobu-san who was not given credit at the con??? i hope so anyways.

I've been singing this all morning. At one point I was choking up like I always do at particularly sad parts of something. I love this song sooo much, it's the most beautiful song I've ever heard.
