the dude with short blond hair is NOT, i repeat NOT Ed..... if you watch carefully you can see that Ed is in the foreground of the shot; notice the blonde braided hair and black collar.... its possibly Al in his human form and for those of you that are going to say that Al can't have gotten his body back.....
It can't be Al, Al's human body has greenish/grayish eyes. And I think that the guy in the forefront is Hohenheim, notice the beard

Granted sloth appears to have been taken out, but the trade hasn't necessarily been undone just because she's died, it doesn't mean she's been returned to the other side of the gate. It does appear to be hohenheim in the foreground, but considering the fact he's also been disposed of, that scene could be some sort of illusion/flashback , possibly hohenheims previous son who died, leading to the creation of envy after hohenheim attempted to ressurect him ? Envy does look different but earlier on I do remember him saying he had forgotten his original form. Their clothing looks different to that of the current time, in the anime.

well i have absolutely no idea about who this blond guy is but... I have lotsa doubt about who the young boy with dark hair is...
I think that it's the real appearence of envy, in fact Dante said envy should have been Hohenheim dear son. And if u look more carefully u can see that the man in front of him is hohenheim.

This is probably the case.
And if it is the case, my theory from a couple weeks ago was at least half-right.

Well if i am wrong Ill admit it when episode 49 is aired.
But also if that is envy (looking Excatly like Ed) It would give another Reason why Envy hate Him so much.
RolfKaese

dont think its a reason, because if envy forgot how he looked like... then its no reason to be angry about ed looking like him... o.o''
anyway, it could be
envy,
parallel-universe!Ed,
behindthegate!Ed,
somethingdifferent XD

that's strange anyway...Ed with short hair and two flesh arms...
Envy is not stupid enough to take ed's appearence and forget those 2 elements.
Another point : who is the person that wrath holds the shoulder in the end ?
If u look at the hair u can think it is envy but envy hasn't this skin color ... Maybe izumi then? but wrath hates izumi hmm...

The younger boy with dark hair shown near the end is not Envy. It's Salim, from the Manga. He's the Fuhrer's son.
The blonde kid... there's no way that's Al. Al's eyes are dark-gray. His facial expressions look like Ed's, but Ed has a metal arm and long hair. I'd say it's flashback.

Is it true? then I can understand the trailer saying:
Japanese: "14 ki no akuma ga...."
English: "14 machines of devils ...."
In Japanese, we usualy say "14 hiki " for counting devils.
(bacause devils are regarded as a kind of creatures/animals)
But in this case, "14 ki" this "ki" is used to count for
aviation machines (like airplanes).
Thanks for good information.

I'm inclined to agree. Who the hell would have that kind of engineering expertise to build a cyborg in such short order, anyway?
A Chimera wouldn't have made any more sense, though... Archer was missing practically half his body.

Why not? They could have him with a face that is half human and half gorilla, with 4 tentacles of an octopus for his left arm, and the footpad of a slug/snail for his left leg (eh, was his left leg missing in the first place?

)
Whatever... he should have been dead and left for dead in the first place.

Lol, eps. 48 is probably the most confusing FMA to date.
Cyborg Archer? Who thought that this was gonna be cool? He looks SO lame with that turret popping out of his mouth. I expected a chimera, not a cyborg which is technically much more advanced that what the FMA world should be capable of. I mean automail is one thing but an ENTIRE cyborg body?
And who here DIDN'T get confused by the next eps. preview? And what's with the Sept. 2, 1916 WW I reference? From what I gather, this WAS when London city fell under attack by 14 German Zepplins, but why mention this in FMA? Don't tell me they are somehow going to connect the two worlds. That would not be good.
As for short-hair Ed? He may actually be Envy. But if it is, the resemblance is uncanny (i.e. the animators were being lazy).
LOL, in the end, it turns out that FMA was the dream of a Londoner as he/she waited for the Zepplin blitz to end.
How's that for an ending?

If you also take into account the letter from Ed to Roy in ep. 20-something. It mentions "British... eh, something" (it's been so looong, I forgot). (the part is when Lt. Ross gives Roy a letter from Ed, and it references the toys, and food expensense, etc. At that point Izumi busts in the room looking for Ed, surprising the military people - meanwhile Ed has just taken off for Rush Valley).
anyway, if you pause and read some of the letters in the series (most are in English); "Britian" is mentioned a couple of times. So, I guess that the series takes place in Great Britian. (And I also guess it makes sense [in a way] in reference to the WWI date).

That text is just filler. Every bit of text in the series, past the first couple of lines is filler. The animators don't expect anyone to actually read it, so they just copy 'n' paste random stuff from historical texts or RPG manuals in there.

All the stuff that is written in english is filler. THe king bradley letter degenerates into a nonsensical whimsey after a florid intro. The beginers alchemy book from episode3 mentions classes and sorcery, pen and paper RPG type stuff. It looks real cause it is real just not the real everyone is looking for, its just a private joke, like leto the sun god. (Leto Atreides, son of Paul Atredies, god emperor of dune, he who walks the golden path...)
IN terms of the significance of london there is good evidence so far that the world of FMA is either a future or an alternate history, with temporally maladjusted alternate history being most likly. First lets ignore the classical greek influence on the names of the FMA countries they are creatures of the manga and have no bearing on the final outcome of the anime. Second we have Christianity positively identified as the dominant religion of the time with Ano Domini notation in the letter from Hohenheim to dante. Third we have the cathedral in old town to an anchient religion that persecuted all other. Fourth, four hundred years prior the plagues and witch hunts when the philosophers stone was created. Finally Dantes supposition of the gate with in and the buried city being gimmies that fit into the theory.
The last time plague struck europe was in 1870 or so but the real kicker was around 1600, 1627 to be precise. The plague killed about a third of europe, the inquisition was also active at this time feels like Pstone area. This also fits in with the four hundred year time frame if we assume and alternate history, as it adds up to about 2000 where we are now. If alchemy was real and the philosophers stone was created then it is safe to assume things went or had been going askew from normal history. If the city beneath central is london then the 1912 reference makes sense. some 80 odd years ago the old order perished and the new one, the one constructed by dante takes over. How london got off its island I don't know, maybe the Pstone had something to do with it but there is a river.
Looking back over I see less coherence than I thought I would have when I started. Anyhoo long story short. I think that Our world and FMA run paralell to each other. Their world being retarded by some big bang that open the gate within us and sent them down the path of alchemy. Thus theories of science developed differently with metallurgy and biology progressing faster due to alchemical influence while electronics and other "wave motion" technologies laag behind. I like this idea because its sexy and has historical tie ins and it holds together nicely. But in the same way EVA holds together. As long as they don't tell the whole story we can rationalize why it works. IN all truth I hope we never really learn, but a few more clues might be nice
And to all the weasels who have skipped the body of my writting because they are lazy trolls and then complain about the length. I laugh at you because this was fun for me and it could have been fun for you. To the rest I enjoy feedback but will rip you a new one if your too far off base.
