I saw a documentary on him a few weeks ago and according to the doc. they think he died from a knee injury... there was something about his kneecap being ripped off and then it got infected and then he died....

I have to ask...why king Tut? According to most historians, the only reason he was so famous was because his tomb was stuffed with gold (the only "historical" thing he ever did was to re-convert Egypt back to polytheism...and he didn't do that all by himself either O_o)

Maybe it's because he was still really young when he became kid?
I remember reading about his tomb, unraided by bandits. That was a miracle

Jul 31 2005, 05:35 PM
Plus there's the fact that so little is known about him (like how he died). That gives him a mysterious factor and a lot of people like that sort of thing (at least where i live they do)

So many... I admire people from different disciplines, walks of life and historical periods and regions of the world: Sun Tzu, marshall Zhukov, Miyamoto Musashi, Kekkonen
Sad thing is we hardly know of anything of women of the historical periods.
But If I have to pick one, I would say Socrates. His teachings are the foundation of much that I admire and aspire to be.

Went to the King Tut exhibit a few weeks ago. I don't understand why they call it the King Tut Exhibit when a large majority of the exhibit was about his father, the religious uprising, some queen's name I forgot and his sister...that's all I remember. He did die from an infection in the knee. Or at least, so they say. But isn't that boring? I like the story about him being bashed in the head. Damn cat scans, technology ruins all the fun.

I agree.
It was a better story when he was murdered in order to remove him from the throne to make way for someone else..........who's name I can't remember.

Priest Ai (or Aye) followed him to the throne, and then Horemheb his general. But scientist doubt the conspiracy theory nowadays.

Mary Tudor: called so due to her brutal persecution of Protestants in England. She was the queen of England during what you might call "England's inquisition Period" (the period in time where a country starts persecuting one religion, often with the Catholics doing the persecuting)
I've heard from somewhere that she did this cuz she fell in love with a Spanish...king? or nobleman...

Technically I should say Jesus Christ, but other than him: FDR. He brought us out of the Great Depression, led the country through WWII, while all the while fighting polio. And then, this really sucks, he died before his even got to see his years of work pay off.

I guess I've got to change my favorite. I can't believe I picked anyone other than this guy.
Oskar Schindler - If you don't know who he is, find out. He is one of the greatest people in history. He saved over 1,100 Jews from the Holocaust by hiring them out to his factory in Poland. He initially wanted to make a fortune for himself by doing this, but after seeing the horrible suffering, started to secretly save them. This was extremely dangerous and ruined him financially.
In any case, all I can say is watch "Schindler's List". It's one of the best movies ever made.
