Dunno, I didn't read all the spoilers, I just tried to understand what they said in the film, and I can't recall them saying she was trying to read his thoughts :s

Its possible you know, he fashioned a prosthetic with a <darned> JOINT!

He has knowledge of them since Pinako had him use one in episode 17 when they were repairing his automail.

mod edit: watch your language.

Yes, but that prothsthetic she fit him with was only for the bottom part because they had to adjust it....he still had his automail knee.

If you see the manga, it is much clearer.
TheVileOne
Its irrelevant. There is such a thing as prosthetics and fake limbs w/ joints.

It would be impossible to move it so freely though, especially not in the 1920's. Have you ever known an amputee? I have. And that person could barely walk, even with a prosthetic.

I just saw a scan of an article and it said that they are prosthetics, and that Hohenheim built them...ahhhh....still though, even if he had the knowledge the technology in our world is different than his so who knows if it would even be able to be manufactured correctly, or built to be strong enough.

I love the FMA anime, but it contradicts itself in a lot of places...overall it is great, but it gets so annoying...I wish they would have put some more care into it.

Also, I have a question about the final episode....I also read in an article (magazine scan; translated from japanese) that Al has NO memories of his brother AT ALL, or anything that happened when he was growing up. He only knows OF his brother. If that is true, I have to saay that that is so messed up........sooo messed up.

Also, another question (sorry about all of these!!! ah). In the final episode, they say Al is found as a 10 year old boy, but when they show him, he looks...well...older than that; at least bigger than when he tried to transmutate their mother with Ed. Anyone else see this/notice this?

Umm... the anime said he forgot all the memories from when he and Ed tried to revive their mother. So that article was wrong. ^^

I figured that at least a few months had passed; if you'll notice, Rose's baby looks older too. Of course, this is just speculation.

The whole point of the argument is that some IDIOTS thought the limbs were WINRY'S AUTOMAIL and some pictures were even posted that were TOTALLY out of context, and after I PROVED as such, people still claimed they were automail.

Hohenheim built, there's the answer, discussion over.

Whether he's able to build them or not in our world I don't really care.

A ton of things happen in Fullmetal Alchemist that can't happen in real life. And they happen in movies, anime, and MANGA in general.

I don't think it contradicts itself as much as the manga purists make it out to be.

Its not true. According to the final episode, Ed has no memories from the 4-5 years he and Ed traveled together after they tried to resurrect their mother.

My guess would be that Ed or the gate did something so Al could be whole again and not have to remember all the terrible things that happened. This is just my personal interpretation, that it was Ed's will that caused Al's memory loss.

Al was always the bigger one as they were getting older.

And some time had passed when the epilogue took place.

Eh, it does contradict itself in a few regards...I haven't finished the manga, or caught up anyhow...not even halfway done. I do prefer the Anime up to this point though; just better storytelling I think, but I just got to the point where they go to "Rushville" in the manga.

I was thinking the same thing regarding Al's memory, but I'll have to find the scans...ah. Hard digging it back up since I don't know where I found it; they were pretty nice scans too, not too much info on the movie but enough to get your blood boiling!!!

Yeah. Like how early on the humonculus call their master a "he", and it ends up being Dante, a woman.

Or how Al falls into water, actually Ed KICKS HIM INTO THE WATER, but then later on suddenly he's not allowed to because it will wash away his seal.

Or how Humunculi cannot use Alchemy, yet Envy ressurected those birds (well, not resurected, but you know what I am saying..) in episode 1. No way that could have been anything but Alchemy.

And there are probably more, but those are the ones that stick out in my mind.
TheVileOne
Whatever. Just because the fan-subbers called him a "HE" doesn't mean they translated it properly.

Maybe they got it wrong, you ever think about that?

When do they refer to "that person" as in the official English subs? Perhaps the word could've actually been meant as a NEUTRAL gender form, but the subbers just translate it as HE just like many refer to God as a "he" as well. Or they didn't realize that "that person" was going to be a woman at the end.

And enough with the stupid contradictions and inconsistencies.

Your stupid AUTOMAIL one Reika? It was WRONG. You DO NOT know everything obviously.

Also you just contradicted yourself Guest Morgan. Envy did absolutely NOTHING with birds in the first episode. It happened in the SECOND EPISODE!

And how could that have been alchemy? They didn't resurrect the birds as they just popped out 2 seconds later. Its not alchemy just because you say it is.

I'd still like someone to prove to me it is alchemy.

You guys just keep repeating the same crud over and over again, and even you are making mistakes. So I don't think you are ones to criticize.

Sorry, I think of the first and second episodes being one episode...ah.

And it is signifigant because it was a total screw up. He used the red stone to bring them "back to live", just like the real priest did, and then they died once again...well they were never truly alive, but you know what I am saying. It was used as convenience, but it is a huge continuity error.

Eh, neutral gender could be it but....eh....not so sure about that. Have to look into it more.

And man, you don't need to attack absolutely everyone just because they point out these mistakes. You're taking it so personally. Get over it.

I think we are the ones who should say ENOUGH, TheVileOne. Enough of your stubborness, enough of your insults, enough of your big-headed personality, enough of your personal attacks towards everyone but you, ENOUGH OF YOUR BEHAVIOUR.

I think you didn't notice in the first place when visiting this topic that we are in a topic to say if you like bones' work or not and the inconsistences (Yes, INCONSISTENCES, you read it well, the same ones you've decided to ignore and everyone respects that (respect, look for that in the dictionary)), not to attack people nor isult anyone. I've been ignoring you for 4 days or so and the topic is not only been peacefull but more people have joined the thread and talked calmly since I didn't answer to your provocations and you couldn't continue making this topic look like something crappy. If you have a problem with what's being discussed in here then DON'T COME, you won't make us shut up because YOU don't like that the 60%, more or less, of people doesn't like what they did, see the inconsistences, and are commenting them in here.

As soon as I opened the mouth (can't recall even if it was directed to you) comments like "IDIOTS have been complaining etc." and "Like that STUPID automail...Reika" come from you. Which makes me think that you have some kind of dependency of people paying attention to you, also that you need to insult people and try to crash them down trying to sound smart and superior to all of us so you can feel better with yourself. And since I'm the one that answers you first, you make allusions to me saying "IDIOT" and "STUPID" in capitals and adding "Reika" on them to make sure I pay attention and read your comment as to ensure that I'll answer you when you see that I don't comment to your insults. Also, I think that makes you feel like you've won over something and left me in the mud.

You know? I've heard people say that when you think that the world is stupid besides you, maybe you are the one who should look if you are wrong or not, and just in case you didn't notice, you've called stupid to everyone who said that they didn't like what bones did because of its inconsistences.

I don't know what do you think people, but me, personally I think we have had ENOUGH of him and his problem with other people's opinion. The rest of us have proved more than enough that we can discuss the topic and and the discussion being processed in here without this kind of low-rated behaviour.

To TheVileOne: See? You happy? Look how much attention I paid to you in this post, I even dedicated my time to making an analysis of your behaviour. Will you live happily from now on?

Hello people! I was out 2 days too, because I was with Reika at another city, buying merchandising and that ^^.

Wow Reika, I just love your last post XD you didn't leave anything for me to say XD (except 1 or 2 things I'll add bellow at this post.

You sure posted a lot in those 2 days, guys, so I have spent a lot of time reading and trying to ignore some commentaries (Thanks xrninja XD for saving me time), and here I go.

QUOTE("Guest_Morgan_*")
f they aren't automail, why is Ed KNEELING down on the floor while packing his things? He lost his knee along with his leg, and if he had a "prosthetic" he would not be able to kneel down in that manner.

Now about why he wasn't moving his arm, that's a mystery. I don't know. But it would be impossible for him to have a prosthetic on his leg and be able to bend a nonexistant knee. Even today, with amputees, if you have your leg amputated above the knee it is hard enough to WALK, not to mention bend a knee that isn't there...heh.

QUOTE(Guest_Morgan)
It would be impossible to move it so freely though, especially not in the 1920's. Have you ever known an amputee? I have. And that person could barely walk, even with a prosthetic.

Yeah, that was my whole point after I realized I was wrong about artificial limbs' age, but some people here likes BONES' Super-mega-hiper-yippie-yippie-yay realism and think it is the same in our reality... there is medical specialist for that kind of problems, but some people won't admit they need them ^^

Since you like the word "whatever" so much, I'll use it here: Whatever. Whichever episode it happened in is irrelevant. Ok this is Morgan I registered though.

One of the things I love about FMA is the music. It is simply amazing. Probably my favorite for any anime.

I love how they took some of the earlier manga chapters and twisted them, so that they were really flashbacks (such as Tucker and the mine town), it was a nice subtle touch.

In the anime I really felt something when Hughes died; when reading the manga, he wasn't as developed so I didn't feel too much...

I think how Al/Ed see Sensei (Izumi) again is much better in the anime than the manga, but thats just me...heh.

Both have their strongpoints, but keeping in mind that the manga is the ORIGINAL STORY, and is what the creator intended us to see, inclines me to finish it up. I'm only on chapter 18 now, heh.

I liked the anime a lot, one of the only ones to make me cry multiple times....but the thing is, is that they didn't put much care into certain aspects. That hurts, because it could have been even more than it was. The ending was so rushed, and it was so lame how Dante just WALKED AWAY as Al was about to bring Ed back to life...common. Dante has gone through all this trouble to create the stone. Is she just going to walk away from that!? I'd be wicked pissed.

Also, the whole Dante story was a bit week....she just transferred her soul into Lyra's body. Now she's going to use the stone to transfer to another body, and it's just going to rot as fast as the last one did.....weak. What's the point then? Ahhhhhh. Sorry it just drives me crazy, it's just lame. So much more potential there!!!

XD heh thanks for that explanation! I feel stupid now. ah.
Reika

Oh is that right? What religion is this? Is there a name?

Oh... let me see... I thought it was Shintoism, but now I think it is old mythology and no one believe in it now. I'll explain the myth a little more.

The seventh generation of the Old Gods from Takamaghara sent Inazami and Inazagi to form the Earth from the mud it was then. They did it and falled in love. Their love gave birth to the Kamis. A kami for a thing. There is the Kami of fire, the kami of stone, the Kami of floor... there was big kamis and small ones, but all of them were important.

They are not "soul", but they are something alike, I think ^^

Well, Hughes himself dying was more felt in the anime, but I was extremely touched when manga Mustang was crying and insisting that it was raining. That was such a poignant moment. However, I don't think I cried during either of these moments in the anime and manga.

I agree in that the FMA has so much potential, though they didn't use all of that potential as effectively as possible.

@Dai:

Oh, you mean like spirit guardian? I know Kami can be translated into "God" or "Deity". This reminds me of Spirited Away and how they have spirits for rivers and stuff. In this matter, I regard spirits and souls differently. I think "spirits" in this sense are supernatural beings with rather god-like powers, but their powers are limited to what type of matter they govern. With "souls", I think of it as something that do not really have any special or god-like powers like the "spirits" in Shintoism do..... souls are something that gives something/someone a personality and distinct character.... so they are not just an empty shell smile.gif If you've watched Evangelion, it had pseudo-Christian aspects that are really very interesting in terms of the focus on the concept of having a soul (you know what I mean?). I urge you to watch Evangelion if you haven't smile.gif ..... it's definitely not something everyone likes though.

When do they refer to "that person" as in the official English subs?  Perhaps the word could've actually been meant as a NEUTRAL gender form, but the subbers just translate it as HE just like many refer to God as a "he" as well.  Or they didn't realize that "that person" was going to be a woman at the end.

I checked the manga again today. When they take off his automail leg they take off the entire thing, KNEE JOINT AND ALL.

Its as clear as day.

So yet ANOTHER contradiction, and inconsistency from the MANGA PURISTS, NOT from the anime.
Reika
I think you didn't understand TheVileOne, he said the prosthetic had bellow his knee and that above his knee had automail, it doesn't have anything to do with having lost the leg above or bellow the knee, neither in the anime nor the manga.

It was NOT a below the knee prosthetic. The prosthetic had its OWN knee-joint! When Pinako took off his automail leg, she took off the ENTIRE thing, including the automail knee joint.

And guess what else? In the same manga issue, Granny Pinako fashioned a prosthetic with a knee and ankle joint for a guy who didn't want any automail limbs.

I think I'm lost, aren't we talking about the movie? ^^U

And? BTW, it's Amestris, not london (If we are still talking about the movie XD, because that pinako thingy made me lost)

No he was referring to a comparison from the anime and the manga that is in actuality EXACTLY THE SAME, while he thinks it was different.

I misunderstood when I looked at the manga, big frieking whoop. So sorry.

It still doesn't change the fact that it would be IMPOSSIBLE to even run with a prosthetic like that; you would barely be able to walk, because of the fact that it is above the knee.

You try and sit there and label me as a "manga purist"...what the hell...

Seriously dude, get over yourself

You are the one that said its "much clearer in the manga" when in the manga its the same as the anime in that instance.

And the prosthetics Ed has in the movie are obviously of a higher, more technological end, as they were built by Hohenheim, who has lived for hundreds of years. He's Ed's father and is a genius, so I don't think its outside the realm of possibility in the series tongue.gif .

Eh even if he is a genius, with no knee regardless of how good a prosthetic is it would be very very hard to walk. Same thing with an arm, since his shoulder is a prosthetic as well I think...

Also, another inconsistency...well it could be one. Did enough time in the series even pass for Rose to have her baby? She was captured by the military, raped, got pregnant, had her baby....ah. It's no big deal, but I don't get why they even made her have a baby to begin with. It was just so out of nowhere.
Dai
ooooooooooooooh, this again... laalaalaaalaaaa... Ed-o Elrich, you are right, it is impossible to move freely with protesic leg if it is like Ed's...

Yeah, you are right O_O. I don't know the exact episode, but when we see Roze's town being invaded by the military, it is late in the series... but some episodes later, Roze has the girl... how? XDDDDD even with premature birth it is tooooooo early!

I didn't realize about this! XD
Reika
O.o good one, does anyone know when does that happen? I think, but I'm not sure, that only 8 months had passed since hughes' death till the end....

And she had the baby so Dante could open the gates and control them as she wished.

Its more than just a regular prosthetic. And again, we are talking about an anime where a lot extraordinary, crazy, and unrealistic things happen. So you can either just accept it or nitpick it like a nitpicker.

How is this an inconsistency?

It wasn't out of nowhere either since in one episode we saw Rose reappear again falling under the clutches of the military.

I thought it was an appropriate plot device considering that its Ed who left Lior in the state it was, thinking he liberated the city or something, instead initiating its destruction. Ed's reaction and revelation to what happened to Lior and Rose is one of the best things about the series.
NeoKakashi
He's right about Rose's baby, actually. I was wondering about that, so the second time I watched the series, I marked down how many days passed in each episode (for instance, if it's nighttime, and then later in the episode, it was daytime, I assumed that was the next day, unless otherwise stated).
I concluded that only a few months could have passed, unless there was a point in which the story had a time skip, which it didn't.
Reika
So she was pregnant and had the baby in just 3 or 4 months? O.o
Dai
answer me this, please.

In what episode Roze appears at Lior, when the city is being invaded by the military? 29? 30 & some?

And, in what episode Roze appears with the girl... 39? 40?

There is not enought time...

but, don't worry, we'll have to fight over this with someone here ¬¬
Miniskirt
Didn't you know? ph34r.gif Roze was pregnant by Ed when he went to Lior in the first eps, that's why they are so in love and so "I'll be with you" at the end of the series, haha biggrin.gif
Reika
XDDDDD that was funny MiniskirtXDDD but I hardly think that's the case, and if it is... no, I'll pretend it isn't xDDDDDD
Stuart
You know Miniskirt is right... look carefully, the girl has Ed's eyes... (irony)

oh please... you guys really make me think BONES is terrible... but you are right.

Roze's litle baby was added ONLY to give Dante a baby to play with the door, I suppose Dante had no house when she was a litle girl so she enjoy opening doors...

It was episode 15.
Ed-o Elrich
The episode she appears in Lior and gets captured is episode 14, "Right hand of destruction".

And TheVileOne, Rose having a baby DID come out of nowhere. We knew what was happening in Lior, but what happened with her just kinda made me go wth? Not enough time even pass for her to have the kid.
