Why are some of you so bratty?

Why do you never follow set rules?

Why do you never believe your elders when we say something is "for your own good"?

i don't know becuase i am not

becuase we don't want to read

because most of them are drunks

(I know I'm not exactly a kid but I still think like one lol)

Depends on who you are lol! I do archery and tae kwon do

I think we like RPs so much because alot of us don't have enough adventure in our life. With rps we can become someone else and do something that we would never be able to do in real life.

For Quistis
I can't answer that first one lol

Kids are rebellious... we don't like to follow rules if we can help it... some just get a thrill by defying authority

Thats a tough one... I guess it has to do with the whole defying authority thing again... and sometimes we don't want to believe partents because we just want to do it and prove them wrong.

1) I like to read, though I guess the regular kid would rather play videogames or torture small animals.
2) It's a way of escaping reality. In a game world, a kid can have the control over her/his life that s/he wouldn't normally have.

For the attention. As insignificant as they are, useless posts/threads attract people's attention, especially of those in power--mods. Observe:

kid spammer: LOL!!! OMFG!!!i made thatmod Quis so f**kin mad!!!red words n evrythin!!!
kid spammer 2: LOLZ!!!dood, thats soooo f**kin kewl!!! ROTFL!!!

Again, it's for the attention. Heaven knows it can't be earned by merit.

Rules? They're meant to be broken. Or, that's the excuse. Kids these days believe that breaking rules seem far cooler than following them. And plus, they get playground-cred.

Kids are pretty primitive. They don't know fire until they get burned. Who knows if those "adults" are purposely holding out on the lil'uns out of bitterness from their own failed childhood? Who knows, indeed. . .?

Okay, so I'm not really a kid...but this is fun. biggrin.gif

Why do you believe you know everything as a kid? Why don't you realize that you're still mentally developing even when you're in the late teens? Don't you realize that mental capacity to make sound judgements takes a long time to develop and you will need help with that process even into adulthood?

QUOTE
Why do you believe you know everything as a kid?

Because some of them want to be really smart. Sometimes these things never work though. If we are so gullible, would I really believe that pink really means ghosts/demons in real life? (Actually, this is a Chinese believing).

QUOTE
Why don't you realize that you're still mentally developing even when you're in the late teens?

Again with the all-knowing thing. Sometimes people are just doing it for bragging rights. I have seen many people change in the past two years, and, sometimes, it ain't pretty.... *shudders*

QUOTE

I think some of us kids do understand this, but some of them just act really stubborn. I know a few people who are like this. For example, I had a classmate in 6th grade, and he always wanted to win. His grades were awesome (better than mine, although I can pass), but there was one glitch to the problem. Whenever he was placed on a team, he was in charge. When he wasn't doing that, we would work together, but if we do anything wrong when he's counting on us, he gets pissed off and scolds us or gives us a dirty look. So to your answer, arche, I think some kids don't want to change; they think they're perfectly fine.

Here's my question even though I'm a kid, but I don't understand this.

1. Why do you teens (girls and boys alike) always want to not look your age?

2. Why do some girls think too highly of themselves and act bratty?

What's with the attitude?

Seriously, I've gone up to kids before to politely ask them something only to get attitude? Do you think it makes you look grown up somehow?

That's all I have, Arche already asked my other question.

- Why do you always think that grown-ups are dumb and clueless?
- Why do you assume that your parents don't know how it feels to be a teenager?
- Why do you feel that you need a boy/girlfriend?
- Do you know what a boy/girlfriend really is for?
- Why is it so cool to use chatspeak? Does typing out "are," "you," "why," etc. take that much effort?
- Why do you cuss so much these days?
animejunkie429800
If that's you Gashole, I don't know all of them except for the last one.

My answer: Blame the pop culture.
AlphonseRules
-A lot of the questions dealing with a kid's behavior are just as much the parents' fault as the kids', if not more so.
-For example, the swearing thing. If you let your kid watch a show like South Park what do you expect.
-I think that some parents are afraid to discipline their kids these days.
-By the way I'm 20, just so you know.
ps-Some kids are just nuts though. laugh.gif

Kids have always used bad language. It's not something that happened recently.

Bad attitudes: My thinking on this is that many kids haven't realized the consequences of these attitudes. A bad attitude will cost you a job or a relationship, etc... Most kids are still oblivious to consequences, which if a person remains immature, will continue. Maturity brings an awareness and respect for consequences of actions. But maturity is not necessarily given with age.
WhiteMike
Is it better to punish a child with something related to what they did wrong, then otherwise? I mean, if a kid stayed out past his/her curfue, then you should punish them by either not letting them go out or shortening their curfue.
Because when I was younger if I did something like that, my parents would use arcane punishments on me that would have me wonder what I did wrong. Or if it was something else I did wrong, because the punishment they were giving me had nothing to do with the crime.
But if I came back after my curfue my parents would have me do random chores, and this sometimes confused me.
I understand now why my parents used such, well, strange punishments: they were trying to hit 2 birds with 1 stone. My parents had the oppurtunity to correct all of my errors with a couple simple punishments. No wonder kids most of them time repeat their past mistakes: they don't truely know what they did wrong.
Instead of randomly giving your kids punishments left and right, save yourself those typical pre-teen rebellions and tantrums by punishing them with something that fits the crime.

This is true. When I was a kid we used to cuss like a bunch of drunken sailors. The only difference between when I was a kid and today is if you called your mom a "f&*%ing B%#@h" either in public or privite you would be smacked into next week, as you should be. Even though we would cuss we were careful not to do it around any adults. Today, I've seen kids cuss their parents out.

If my kids cussed me out like that they would be cussing all the way to the back yard to cut me a switch off the nearest tree so I could light their rude little ass up.

Ew. It's not cool. Most kids are just too lazy to type properly, but it's a pet peeve of mine. Must...type...well....*eye twitch*

YES!!! YES, they are. There are WAY too many kids in my family that are spoiled brats because of this.

- Why do you feel that you need a boy/girlfriend?

Is this because of the whole forum dating thing? I find forum dating just a pointless yet sometimes amusing thing. I would dread having a boyfriend in real life. I mean, I'm thirteen, I don't need to worry about that for a looong time.

i guess it depends on our mood. normally 95% of the time when an adult i dont know asks me a question like when im volunteering or something i reply cheefully. but 2% of the time im just in a crappy mood and give a half hearted response, but not disrespectfully. the other 3% of the time is when the adult is a complete idiot like those grumpy dads who complain because the show wont start or something and i try with all my might to not pull off a smart remark.

hee...

I was raised to take responsibility and whatnot, and listen to my elders....... O.o (which, my mom takes advantage of so she can boss me around, making me do chores, while she goes out or something)

And... I wouldn't say I don't follow the rules, sometimes I just don't understand them XD

And I'm too afraid (or shy...either way) to ask what they mean, so.. yeah ^^

Bleeding Heart Alchemist
Ummmmm yeah pretty much. Not much cussing in good old Rock and Roll but Metal on the other hand..........
ἀρχή
When I was a kid, I refused to swear a lot because it was too common and didn't have any meaning. I realized that it's better to be different than like everyone else. The same is true for drinking and using drugs. I didn't drink because I didn't want to be like the majority of teenage clones out there.

To be honest, all that individuality that kids go for is really too conformist in my opinion. To be a real individualist as a kid is to not drink, not swear, respect others, and actually think clearly about things in life.

But that's asking too much of the young minds in our world. I just know that my daughter will hear about the value of actually being an interesting person than just acting like every other stereotypical teen.
animejunkie429800
@arche: I think you're like any other parent. You want your kid to fit in, have a good job, and 'go with the flow.' Sometimes, that can cause to very bad things in the future during her teen years. Tell your dauhgter to 'be yourself' or something like that. I have seen many people who really ruin themselves by being on the top of the 'food chain.' I pity the people who get picked on. So I think you should start your daughter's life by telling her to be herself. I never learned that until fourth grade. I'm going to seventh, and I have learned more in the previous years. If you be yourself, you won't care about what other people think, or anything else.

I disagree. It's simply television and movies and their parents and other adults and environments that they are surrounded by.

I agree with Hollow (hope you don't mind me calling you that...)...although sometimes it would be nice to be freed of that responsibility...It's not worth whining about, but I get everyone up in my house (woot...2 people) every morning...but it feels like my mother should get up first. I mean, I'm the kid, right?
But responsibility is just something that comes with growing up and we all have to take it upon ourselves if we want to be treated with respect and equality . It's just a fact of life ^^
