I voted no. but I have to say that I don't doubt they will make a sequel, I just don't want one... well I wouldn't be upset if there was one, but I know it would ruin the quality of my beloved fma, so I oppose one!

I said no. I don't think there will be one or should be one. The one problem I had with the movie could have been resolved right then and there. BONES just chose not to do it on the contrary of what was put out in magazines. Maybe when the DVD comes out there will be a deleted scenes section that has what they said would be there. Not holding my breath though since this is animation and not live action.

Jul 24 2005, 01:36 AM
There probably won't be, as they have said over and over. I would want one purely to make Ed and Al go back to their world and see Ametris people and what they're up to. But, whatever BONES does, they will do it to meet their own expectations (undoubtedly, they'll make some casualties happen if they make any sequels). The quality can't be so bad - I'm sure they can write stories.... the only thing is writing it to make it happy. Well, whatever I guess.

I hope there will be one, so that Ed and Al will return to Ametris, but that will spoil the story and drama.
I highly doubt that there will be a sequel because if my memory serves me right, I have read in an magazine where the director was interviewed. One of the questions asked was whether they would continue the series after the movie, and he said no and will never think about making one.

Depending on the popularity levels, they may or may not decide to create OAVs continuing Hagaren.

Jul 25 2005, 09:48 AM
Well, After I read the summary, I first was like, "What?! There needs to be a sequel!". But then I thought about and decided that the movie ended with a feeling of finality. They even had the "What the characters are doing now that... Blah, blah" (didn't want to spoil and too lazy to do the spoiler tab).
So I don't think there should be a sequel. But if there was one made...I wouldn't be mad, I would be happy! Cuz I luve FMA!!! XD

I dunno if you guys saw my reply in teh summary section, but I don't necessarily think that there will be a SEQUEL. What I would LIKE to be done, is Studio Bones redo FMA like 5 years down the road, and actually follow the manga storyline. Ptf, Hellsing's doing it, so FMA should too. O_<

after reading the summary, the only thing that struck me as a possible line that can lead into a sequel is when Ed says something about the 'upcoming war and how this is their world...'.
well, what about the upcoming war? what about the world they are in now? what are they going to do in the upcoming war?
and what kind of war are they talking about?? WWII? don't think so, since the movie takes place in 1923ish and wwii started in the 1930s. how can ed/al know about that already?
maybe the dialogue itself could be a gimme line...? i dunno, just my thoughts.
i would personally love a sequel and do not think that it would ruin the drama or 'overall feel' of the series. it would satisfy my FMA fandom afterall XD!

BONES might make a sequal. Or do thirteen movies like some company did with the Dragon Ball series.
It would be a good idea to do it a few years down the road. When the manga has stopped producing and whatnot *gets sad thinking about it*
I say no, but yet BONES could probally do one down the road.
I like FMA just the way it is, the anime and manga are diffrent. I actually like it being seprate from the manga a bit. It's not like InuYasha where there is 167 episodes of the manga just animated (Just the basic same thing over and over, no offence InuYasha lovers, this is just a good example).

Impossible. The director already said that he won't make a new one and this movie is "going to end everything and tie up loose ends".
Though they might make an OVA or something. But chances are pretty low.

Hell yeah, i think that would be cool. I dunno how they would do it though since the first 1/2 of the anime is almost the same as the manga. But, if they could just continue from where the two started diverging i would definately watch it but probably an OVA just snatching a few of the plot that threads from the manga would be feasible and definately NO ALTERNATE WORLD CHEAP PLOT DEVICES!!!
but i dont think it'll happen.

No sequel. The Elrics achieved their goals. Al got his body back, and so did Ed (albeit briefly). And in the movie they achieve their goal of being reunited.

No, no and no.
Bones has said it before time and time again (and I don't understand why so many fans think otherwise?). I've heard the director say it like... 4 different occasions already...
And I wouldn't count on them making a sequel just because of good response either. Many good anime series have ended at a single season with good fan support and remained legends and popular till today.

From what I've read, I don't like how the movie turned out AT ALL. I say 'No' and I hope 'No' 'cuz BONES will probably find some more popular characters to kill off. Heck, if they keep the trend, supposing a few more movies come out, the only characters left alive from the original cast will probably be Winry and Den

there's no need for a sequel. i like how everything ended, the main characters got what they wanted while having to sacrifice something. you don't want it to drag out and get boring *cough* Inuyasha *cough*.
if they do decide to make a sequel it should be about finding "the uranium bomb that was brought over here" that Ed talks about in the end (reffering to the beggining).

Jellybean
Oct 12 2005, 10:46 PM
The presence of the U-bomb was a little odd in the storyline. It's like the writers did their best to think up a really conclusive ending, but left that random little loose end in there so they could have some sort of plot to continue if they changed their minds. Or maybe that was just a little specific goal for the boys so that the ending wouldn't be so hard to swallow. *shrugs*

They could make it where Dante actually got away real quick when gluttony was about to eat her and somehow transmutated herself to our world as a quick escape and it ends up that the villain in the first movie was just a puppet and later she explains to Ed that it really was her just undercover when she saw him and the movie director talking so that she could confirm that he could know about the bomb so it would be used as bait to lure him and unexpectedly Al to her.
Tombow
Oct 14 2005, 12:56 AM
OK, so the first half of the sequel movie is about Ed and Al trying to destroy the U-bomb in our world, then Dante is actually still alive and shows up in the movie, and things gets complicated, struggle ensues between Ed & Al and the bad guys, and somehow ED and Al ends up back in the Hagaren world, like the bad guys would find other circle somewhere while some moron in Hagaren world opens the gate at that end, or the U-bomb is used somehow or something, then the bad guys escape to the Hagaren world with U-bomb, so Ed and Al pursue them and go back to the Hagaren world. Once there, of course they use alchemy to fight the bad guys, and that would be the climax of the movie, with some other old characters thrown into the fighting scenes to make us happy, and yet some other known character(s) die to make us sad and scream injustice and all that, then the movie ends with another funeral scene, followed by Ed and Al leaving for a new journey, this time in the Hagaren world. The End.

(Just dreaming!

Also, I wanted to ask you if you could tell us your first-hand account of audiemce reviews of the Fma movie.
You know, the stuff you might overheard when they all came out of the theater after the movie, stuff like that.
And, about the storyline of the movie...
Yap, I was talking about the Fma anime series' MAIN storyline when I said "I feel it's completed."
Yeah, I'm totally hoping to see stuff like that on DVD. Or, any extra for that matter.
I'm dying to know about Roy, and also other stuff to help us conclude movie's loose ends, such as, "were both gates destroyed?" etc.

Gawd, when is this confirmation email going to come into my magical mail box

Anyway, I would have liked to see closure to the crew living in Ametris... since I was a bigger fan of the minor characterse than the main characters (and that's rare with me). Usually I'm happy with endings, like with Cowboy Bebop and stuff... but this, this ending just made me... um, how would I say it, aggravated? Yes, that's it.
The movie kinda reminded me of Tenchi Muyo! the Movie 3, except there was no closure. At least Tenchi finally chose

; I felt that this movie left a lot of small opportunities opened for some continuation, but blarg.
I would be on the doubtful side of any continuation. Besides, there's still the manga and I've only known FMA manga wise so I'll just stick to the manga.
And to whoever questioned the fact of inpending war and how Ed was mentioning it: Germany was in a state of turmoil with the Weimar republic (that government system) failing them and basically accepting the shame of WWI. When Hitler tried to gain power with his coup' in the early 20s that landed him in prison, people felt strong feelings about a war starting. A lot of people were feeling angry at a lot of countries surrounding Germany... especially at the countries that took Germany's possesions (France, America, and Britian). Also, it didn't help with Hitler's ideal that it was the Jews and Gypsies bringing down the economy as well.
It was obvious that Germany was heading into a war, and when Hitler finally gained power (democratically at that, lol) in 1933 it was a given that war was going to happen when he finally proclaimed himself dictator for life.

oh oh oh I got another idea! Ed is married to Noah (Sorry EdxWin fans) and they are expectiing but then Ed and Al find out from an unknown source that there is a building in ruins that they should see and it is where Nicholas Flamel was for a while and they are amaed that he knows about the philosopher's stone and then they enter a room where they see the transmutation circle of the philsopher's stone and think that he found a way to get back to their world. They stay in the ruins for awhile but then go. They go back to where Noah is and tel her what they've seen. Ed and Noah get into a fught about how Ed shouldn't venture anymore since they are going to have a family now so Ed storms off. Al runs after him. They sit by the lake they sat by when Al's soul was temporarily attached to the armor and Ed tells Al about how he realizes Noah is right because he remembers how it was when his own father did the same and didn't want his child to hold the pain that he did. Al and Ed get back to the house and Ed apologizes to Noah. He tells her he wll take more responsibilty from then on. Everyone setlles down and goes to sleep. Then ed has a dream. He's standing at the gate. The door opens and it tries to take Ed in. Ed wakes up struggling only to find Dante performing a transmutation circle with a swastika marked on his head. Dante backs away and sais "Hello, Fullmetal Alchemist." Ed backs away petrified. But dante melts into a black shadow and dissapears. Al and Noah run into the room. Ed tells Al about Dante. Ed tells Noah that if he dosen't stop Dante in whatever shes doing she will hunt them down forever. Noah silently agrees and Ed and Al set off and.........I;m tired of typing, wow I should mae this a fan-fic.

However, I am a bit sad that FMA ended and I like the anime better than the manga. Guess I'll have to get obsessed with Hellsing but it's so long til the new episodes will be fansubbed! Does anyone know an anime that is similiar to FMA?

Haha, I'd like to see Ed and Al in Nazi Germany, too. WWII storylines are rich with possibilities. And I'm worried about them.

You know what just occured to me? By the time the war ends, Ed will be 40 and Al will be 35.

However, I'm really glad that they don't intend to continue the series. I'd hate for them to just keep cranking out more and more of it until everyone's sick of it. *coughInuyashacough* I think it's great that Bones decided to quit while it was still good, despite the fact that there's still money to be made off of it.
