Well, on the subject, I LOVE this song! I don't mean to go all hyperbole on you, but this has got to be one of the saddest and sweetest songs I've ever heard. (And randomly, Russian is very difficult to pronounce

)

I had this song for about 5-6 days before I saw my first episode of FMA, so I was glad to see that it is a popular song in the anime. (Ends almost every episode so far) Thank you so much for posting the translation and the Russian lyrics (I couldn't find them anywhere!) You guys are the greatest!
PS: It's funny how the only other question that no one could tell me/couldn't find anywhere was answered on here too. (What language is Inner Universe? Russian, duh!)

Привет!!
The minute I listened to the song I was taken over with strong emotion. As I listened closey during the first hearing I was like Russian?! How cool!!
I have been studying Russian for a few months now with a ton of dictionaries and help online. When I watched episode 3 of FMA and head the song I was in amazement!! Soon after I downloaded the song and had in on repeat for almost a week in my cd player. Now that I have the lyrics I can practice my Russian and sing along.
I love the Russian language it is very beautiful to me. I listen to a lot of Russian rock bands on my spare time as well. Oh!! Did you know that most of the entire soundtrack was recorded in Russia? That is great! In fact is was the Russian International Symphony Orchestra who performed all of the music for Full Metal Alchemist! They are very talented. That explains the origin of the song. Overall I think BEPA did a wonderful job.
I will listen to this song forever! Да! О Классно!
Все Тип-Топ! Круто!

*Crys* No, I'm not crying because of the song, it's because I can't listen to it. I just learned about it and all of the songs have been cleared out of the audio area and the other website won't let me listen to it. It sounds like a very sad song, especially if Al's in it.

It's been in the OST 1. You can download it from the eMule.

BTW, this Hohenhein (not hikari no...) had claimed that he'd created a human being, which he'd called humonculus, or in Latin - "Little man".

Hey! I know this is a lil off topic, but there are some of you here who know russian right? I was wondering if you had any idea where I could find russian fansubs of FMA. (My friend is bulgarian, and speaks Russian, and she showed some interest in the show, just because she loved the song, Brat'ya)
So, maybe help?

It's actually sung by BEPA. Michiru Oshima is the composer of the FMA soundtrack (but it's not her first soundtrack).

That's neither a singer, nor a group. It's a choir. Moscow Children Chamber Choir "Belief" (BEPA - VERA is russian for 'belief') That's their web-site

Jan 22 2005, 02:29 PM
Well a choir is a group
But thankyou very much for that information. Now my next question is does anyone know if this song was created specifically for FMA or was it a song that already existed? I mean the words fit the show perfectly.

Well, that's a misunderstanding in languages. In Russian word 'group'='band'.
Ah, I'm almost 100% sure, that this song was specially created for FMA. I've read an interview with Michiru Oshima and there was something of that sort.
And I also know that this song was recorded by MosFilm (the biggest and the oldest russian corporation, connected with movies&animation)

its strange. I really don't feel any sad emotions listening to the song or reading the lyrics, but still its a pretty song and I always like listening to it whenever I listen to the first OST of FMA. ^^ All thanks to filimonovna for translating it since I wanted to know what the song meant

One of my friends listened to this song, and he was like "oh okay, next please, is nice but nothing else"
I realize that it brings me to the sadest moments in the story, and I swear I'm nearly crying everytime I listen to it
Thanks for the lyrics, I've been looking for them

Wow, I'm so dissappointed in myself. The first few times I heard the song in the anime, I thought it was really sad, but other than that, I never gave it another thought. It wasn't until today when I downloaded the soundtrack that I listened to it closely that I figured out it was in Russian; I nearly had a heart attack. Being Russian myself, I have no idea how that could have slipped by me.
As fun as it is to read translations, it's simply not the same experience as listening to a song and knowing what it means. That's why I want to learn Japanese some day. I listen to foreign songs more often than Russian or English songs, and I try to understand them as best I can, but this song was a pleasant surprise.
I have to admit that this song is sad as hell, although it is a bit disturbing listening to Ed and Al's inner thoughts sung by women with really high voices. =P In any case, this totally made my day.
By the way, thanks to whoever posted the Cyrillic. There were some lines I couldn't make out under the music. (I have lousy speakers.)

Beautiful song...I actually used this song to persuade my -artistic- friend to watch FMA...now she's crazy about it ;D
and by the way, in the series the words are hardly noticeable. The song plays a few times in the series, but then the lyrics are a little muffled. In FMA OST II there is an instrumental version of this song, with strings replacing vocals, (title is Tsuisou if you want to know)

Hahaha!
Sorry, guys, I'm just a bit hysterical. But why do ALL the people, who listen to the 'Brothers' thing, that it is sung by women? It is sung by little boys! Yes, their voices are high, but nevertheless, those are boys.
Sorry for hystery, again.
