I just beat the game now. I got it yesterday. It was pretty short.

Haven't you guys ever heard of breaks? i'm takin my time. right now i'm on Chapter 6.
foolmetal alchemist
Jul 17 2005, 06:17 PM
I played six hours in two days. It's not that I didn't take breaks, the game was just short and easy.
Azura Elric
Jul 17 2005, 06:34 PM
Yea, short and....hmm I'd say semi-easy. The Enemies were a little bit tougher this time. I hate that weird Golem that you fight in the Dead Village. That one took me a few tries. ><

Yeah, he was sort of tough. I beat the game without dying once anyways.

What items do you get if you beat Scar and Armstrong and what do they do???
foolmetal alchemist
Jul 19 2005, 06:12 AM
I just realized that when you play the game a second time, Armony is walking around the fountain sqaure in Lior.
DarkHeart-Alchemist
Jul 19 2005, 10:08 AM
I beat it in 4 hours and it seemed like pie to me and no not the math term pie plus the armony secret is awsome, hey did anyone figure out that 2 is a prequil to 1?

You guys are fast...But then again, I only have a short amont of time to play after work, making dinner for my family, cleaning ...you know all those boring life events. But anyways, if you on the second play through don't forget to go find Black Hayate. Then he will be in events that take place in Roy's office.
This game is a lot of fun. But I like getting only an "A" grade when I finish off a Boss. So sometime I retry the boss fight. I am a sucker for perfection.

Where do you find Hayate? I only found the cat that resembles Armstrong.
@Dark Heart: Armony being in that game doesn't mean it is a prequel. That was just a fun little thing that the producers put in. Things like that are often found in games, but they are not meant to be taken so seriously. Besides, the first game was supposed to take place when Armstrong was escorting the Elrics back from Risembool to Central. This game covers beyond that part of the show.

I beat it yesterday! ^.^ But I only found one cat... ;-; (It's the one you get near the end) I CAN'T FIND ANYMORE! >.<

The one I found is in the sewers where you fight Bald. Chap. 3 I believe.
Azura Elric
Jul 19 2005, 12:14 PM
There's a Cat in the sewer, A cat in Siam-sid, and a cat inside that last area before you go fight the final boss.
Scars of love
Jul 19 2005, 01:17 PM
Siam Sid was a cool level to play through. though i thought there was not enough golems to fight and not enough areas to breeze through.
When i first saw the human like golems i thought they were humunculus. XP

Where to Black Hayate on the second playthrough only:
Chapter 2 After fighting the thugs in the back alleys go back to the distroyed car. Look for Hawkeye near the car and there will be a cut scene where she finds him. (yeah, Fuery has been written out!) Then he will be in all scenes that take place inside HQ.

But if you want to see Fuery, Falman and Breda they are in the jewely shop across from HQ after the car bomb in the plaza.
Where to find the cats:
Chap 1- Lior After saving before the last save spot before the boss. Go back into hall right before that one and then "Tama"- the white cat, will be there

Chap 2-East City when you first enter the sewers, turn left. "Belcini"-Black cat with Armstrong curly-Q hair, is near the end hinding behind a trash can.

Chap 3-Tucker Manor get to the sewers (sluiceway) the go back. "Scratches"-One with Scar's scar and sunglasses will be on the top of one of the bookcases in the library. Al needs to toss Ed to get him.

Chap 4-Resembool After getting the first slate from chamber 1 go back to the outlying hills. "Ryuke"-the Grey and White faced happy cat will be by the entrace of the chambers (near the Elixir)

Chap 5-Bord'Wan after going to the secluded house before the boss fight. Find the Diary then go back outside. To the right of the door there will be "Antonio"-yellow stripped cat.

Chap 6-Siam-Sid in the grand promenade. Before you talk to Hawkeye and Glostner. "Roxanne" the Orange cat with a white mouth is behind a small monument.

Chap 7-Spire of Lebis After defeating the Mysterious woman in the second descent "Ophelia" the black cat with the alchemy circle on her forehead is just below the long line of chest in the middle area. You can't reach her because of a golem stature on the east side. You need to stand on the northwest corner of the high platform and drop down staying close to the wall.

Gah, I need to get all those cats the second time. X_X I only found Antonio the first time. How sad is that? But the game was pretty short. I managed to beat it in three sittings, and this is coming from someone who sucks so badly at action RPGs that she got an F on every single boss battle. ...But I did NOT just say that. ^^;;;;; Anywayz, I had no idea about Black Hayate. *Must get that cutscene*
Um... Spoilers below:
To clear things up, it IS a prequal. If you listen closely in the Epilogue, Ed says it's finally time to go back to Central or something. Then Al says "Oh right, the library. I forgot. That was quite the detour."
If you remember in the series, before Ed got to Reseinbool, he met up with Marcoh, who told him about the notes in Central Library. They cut that out in the game and added the whole incident in Reisenbool, after which the brothers HAD to return to East City. (They couldn't just leave that mess alone and go after the notes.)
Now if you've played Broken Angel, would you believe their luck? ^^; They got sidetracked before they even got on the train, and then said train gets hijacked, throwing them into an even bigger mess in Heissgart. Now we all know why Lust had pleanty of time to destroy the notes. >.>
The one major thing that annoyed me about the game is how they failed to tie it into the story without creating so many plot holes. More specifically, the fact that Elma killed Cornello? ~_~ And they really should have hinted at Marcoh's notes somewhere before the Epilogue.
Scars of love
Jul 23 2005, 03:16 PM
I don't think it was a smart idea for them to connect the story from the manga into the games universal story. it does bring about alot of plotholes and it screws around with the manga alot too. Lust killing Carnello and then in the game it's Elma instead. And the whole Scar killing random state alchemist not even being considered a major point in the games plot or have any connection to the crimison elxir. very confusing.

and on another note about the cats... if you equip Al with a Cat as his Armor and then wait for a few minutes, Al will sit down and you will hear a Faint Meow and the word projecting from Al's Stomach.

its awesome

That happens in Chapter 7 too. It is really funny becuase you know of the wind that pushes you... Well Ed is running against the wind and getting no where. But when Al sees Ophelia he runs against the wind and goes to get her. Then Ed has the angry look on his face and starts chasing Al around that pit area!

o_O Does it matter?
Repetitive as in what? Plotline? Gameplay? be specific plz?
plotline = original story but based on manga storyline, so I guess you can call it repetitive...
gameplay = all you do is fight, pass to next level + advance in story, then you fight again, so I guess you can call it repetitive too

There weren't many cinematics until later in the game...
The animations during the regular cutscenes were a nice change. But it didnt seem there was alot of things to transmute...And there were no elemental weapons...but at the same time the L2 (On-the-go

) Transmutations were good to have, but I pulled out a sword 99.9% of the time after I learned it.
And it was definately way too short.
Odysseus
Aug 6 2005, 08:56 PM
Indeed it was too short. And yet.... that may have been a blessing in disquise, considering how monotonous the missions felt after the first couple of chapters. If it had been more varying I would have been more upset about its length.

You won't be disappointed by the third game

Well actually, if you are not an item collecting addict like I am, you can save like... i dunno, 30% time? Cuz the items are the trick... some of they are hard to access, and some, you need to have an axe with you to break thru so that you can gain access to them... I think I have over 160 different kind of items @_@ (not all of them are collected tho... some are, well, you can give your old items either to Winry or Sofie to upgrade them)
