Neville is awesome, indeed. I cried when I read the part with his parents in the hospital, and cheered when he punched one of Malfoy's cronies (don't remember which), he definitely became much braver in the 5th book.

Hee, don't worry. Although, honestly, I'm not particularly fond of some of those ships, I've seen weirder ships out there (Snape/Sorting Hat story, lmao. o_O I kid you not!) and some just plain scary ones. It's the Harry Potter fandom, a place which can either bring you joy or nightmares.

i'm the only one of my friends who's excited (and caught up) for the sixth book! i have it pre-ordered and ready to arrive on my doorstep when it comes out. since it's summer vacation and all, i re-read the other five books to refresh my memory. (i'd forgotten most of the 4th and almost all of the 5th, since i rushed through them right after they came out, and then had to give them to my sister to read.) as for theories, i've played around with the idea of Neville being the prince, but....i really don't know. i'm excited to see what JK Rowling will pull on us.

I can totally see Dumbledore pulling an Obi-Wan, which is a really stupid thing to do. I don't think that Rowling would degrade herself like that, using someone elses ideas to get even more money. Like I said, I don't think that she would do that.
I think that Filch is going to start screwing around with the schools inner workings more. Even though he is a squib, that doesn't mean he can't use his janitorial powers to follow orders from, I don't know, the Dark Lord. If Lord V. could convince Filch to commit even more hateful acts against the students, or give the Lord some inside information, no one would be the wiser.

I don't think that Sirius is dead. I mean, he fell behind a bloody curtain! I guess that there are some pretty strange things that happen in the wizarding world, so anything can happen. I hope that he doesn't pull an Obi-Wan either. Oh God, enough of the Star Wars plots!

@the sellout: Neville's part in book 5 was very refreshing and sudden. In my eyes, in any case. A pleasant surprise.

Yeah, I too, lost some of the HP fever because of the long wait, but now I am starting to get into it again!

For the HBP, I'm thinking of Blaise Zambini. I remember reading an interview with JKR that she will be bringing him up more in the upcoming books. I had noticed that there is always a hint of a new chara in the book before it, like Cedric for instance, before they get a larger part in the next book. Well, Blaise didn't get anything in 5, but with JKR noticing that Blaise's chara in a lot of fanfics and finally announced his gender, makes me think he could be a good candiate for the HBP.

I haven't heard of any parties/meetings held here in the Netherlands yet, but I chalk that up to the fact I haven't been trying to find out. ;; I'm not much of a party-person myself, but the goodies seem fun indeed.

the Harry Potter series has always been one of my favorites. i'm not a big fan of classics; i lean more towards the fantasy genre. HP's not the best written series, but what it lacks in syntax it certainly makes up for in plot.


shocked? i like shounen-ai when i feel it's appropriate. (like in all of Tenipuri, cough...) but FMA's one of those series where i don't feel it belongs and i'm adamantly against all FMA shounen-ai pairings.


as for release parties...i've always wanted to go to one, and this year was promising, since i'm old enough that my parents would let me out to go to one, and it's in the summertime, when i have absolutely nothing to do. but alas, my sister's friend pre-ordered book 6 for all of her friends, and since my sister and i share a set, my copy's already been accounted for. well, that's not really an "alas" but more of an "oh...drat." ah well, there's always book 7. maybe i'll just draw a lightning bolt on my forehead in eyeliner, so i can look festive as i snatch my copy off of my doorstep.

I'm rather curious why the adult cover is on potion making. Out of all the covers I've seen, that one stands out differently from the others. (No Harry or Dumbledore)

Eg. The last book had a bronze statue of a Phenix on it.. It is just different covers..

yeah, i was looking at some of the international covers online last night, and i noticed that all of the UK adult versions have something on the cover that directly relates to the title. i.e., the first book had a picture of the Philosopher's Stone, the second had a door to the Chamber of Secrets, the third had a picture of Azkaban, the fourth had the Goblet of Fire, and the fifth had a phoenix. but book 6 seems to break that trend, with a potions book instead of, well, the Half-Blood Prince. i dunno, there's a lot of speculation on the significance of the author, and maybe he's the new Potions master, if something happened to Snape or if Snape finally got the Defense Against the Dark Arts position...

I still don't understand why they need an adult version of the book, I guess it's just to make more money.

i don't really like Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, so the movies aren't as appealing to me (plus, this sounds really stupid, but it bothers me how off-center Harry's scar is in the movie). that won't stop me from watching all of them, but...has anyone else seen the trailer for the fourth movie? the effects look really cool, but why do Harry and Ron both have so much hair?

lol, that made me laugh too. One thing in the trailer that I hope they correct is with the first challenge, with the hungarian horntail, where in the book Harry doesn't even aimlessly jump around the rocks to get the egg, he summons his Firebolt and flies around. In the trailer, they have him jumping around, it kinda made me mad, I hate when they change the story!

Cried. And cried. I knew Dumbledore was going to die, but I'm still surprised about the person who killed him. I was disappointed that Snape turned. I always liked that he was a bad-good guy. I almost feel betrayed because I trusted him, just like Dumbledore did.

When Dumbledore showed up in the portrait in the headmaster's study? I WEPT.

What I didn't like? Ginny Weasley, she's the freaking epitome of a Mary Sue. EVERYONE loves her, she's really good at quidditch, and of course Harry now LOVES her. So disappointed.. I really expected better from JKR.

And well.. might I just add that Tonks is going to become Harry Potter's Relena? I can see it already. Beh, I like Tonks a lot, but I feel that pairing her up with Lupin was, well, unecessary. It just seems that JKR just wanted every character to be with someone. And, I must say, the whole romantic part of the story felt like reading a fan fiction, seriously. Oh, well.

Overall, I liked it. The interection between Harry and Dumbledore was perfect, which is what made the book for me. There's so much I want to say but that I can't recall right now, so I'll write more later.

I can't say that I'm suprised that Harry and Ginny got together, I was kind of expecting it. And now that you mention it, she is a bit Mary Sueish. What suprised me was how Ron and Hermione didn't become a "couple", so to speak. I always assumed they'd get together before Harry and anyone. It definately felt as though I was reading a fanfction romance at certain points; Tonks being in love with Lupin was surprising and almost a little random. Exactly how large is the age difference between them anyways?

Finding out that Snape is the half-blood prince wasn't all that suprising; How many other potions masters do we know? Damn, I hope he dies [/spoiler]

I'm really looking forward to the next book. Things are finally gonna start getting somewhere! Now that we have the answers to questions we've been waiting for since the first book, and everythings coming to a head, the climax is definately gonna be interesting.
