Black Cat is about an ex-assassin dubbed Black Cat with the number XIII tattoed on his chest. Black Cat a.k.a. Train Heartnet left a secret society named Chronos after an event that happened while he was in. Now he's travels around with his partner Sven Vollfied as sweepers (the term in the series for a bounty hunter). While conducting their regular sweeping business they take on a girl with nanomachine transforming abilities named Eve, and Train's old partner Creed tries to take over the world. I read the first 5 volumes (I really need to try to finish it some day).

Pros- The two main male protagonist. Especially Train
Cons- I don't really like any of the female characters. Now I'm not sure why, just something doesn't sit well with the way they are written for me.

@Kirara: I agree regarding the female characters... at least where Eve and "thingy" are concerned. Forgot her name, she's made such an impression on me. Seriously, forgot her name... Rinslet! That's her. Sometimes they are okay, but then they do something or say something and it throws me for a loop again. The rest of the lady cast I more than like. Kyoko for example. Gotta love her and her fiery elemental powers. (Roy's daughter to a T - flirt and fire-snapper)

Great. My Sis won't read read it because it reminds her too much of Zombie Powder which she adored. Plus, she says the art's too pretty for a shonen manga. She doesn't like pretty characters. My Brother's just way too slow when it comes to reading up on things. He wants to but it'll take ages that way.

This way I'll have people to talk to about Black Cat without having to listen to my Sister's ranting!

Muhuhuhu, it's all about the guys now! X3 (Of course there are more lovely bishounen to ogle at. They're hidden in the artbook section: the one you should really keep an eye out for is the little dude with spiky blue hair. He's always wearing bandages around his head and walks around in a dress... Still, a bishounen in all its glory~)

Charden and Kyoko, let's see. I haven't been able to find out much about their history together, but throughout the manga, they've been [almost] inseparable. The relationship they've got going is more brother/sister like than anything else in my opinion. Kyoko is a bubbly, innocent-looking teenager and pretty naive when it comes to certain things. Charden has this protective air around him regarding her. I think he sees her as his charge because of her innocent nature and has come to love her in his own way. What way that entails you'll have to judge for yourself though. XD READ~

Yeah Black Cat is GOOD! I havn't read it all but i like it soo far. I saw pictures of the anime and it doesn't look that good. Train looks like he's 5!

What is your favorite character? I really like Train and Eve!! I also like Sephira, *Jonus, Kyoko (I started liking her when she had her crush on Train), and others too. Thunderhead is funny too, Sven is really not interesting me that much. I also like no. X, *forgot his name, he's too funny! With his changing skills and all!
note:How do you pronounce Sven? It's been iretating(can't spell) me.

OT: Does ANYBODY know when the anime is coming out? I heard it was somewhen in fall. It's really hard to find pics of Black Cat when the anime haven't come out yet.

My favorite character is Train, closely followed by Kyoko. I don't care much for them as couple though. But really, I have trouble picking out characters I like better than the rest because they all have their individual charms which makes them special and likeable in my eyes. The only ones I'm not too fond of are Rinslet and Eve. Sorry, MasterKris. ;;

The ones I've been looking out for were Train & Sven (love partnerships to death), the Cerberus gang (more partnership*), No.I & No.II, Charden & Kyoko.

*spoiler!alert. Leave it to me to like a gang right before one of the members get demolished by the opposition... It was a sad event though.

No.X is called Xiaou Li if I'm not mistaken. A manga wouldn't be much of one if it didn't feature a local Asian pretty boy.

Sven? I'd guess you pronounce it the way you spell it? S-ven. To be honest, I can't find another way to pronounce it.

Well, everyone has their own options about characters. I just like Eve too much!! She's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo kawaii!! I really like the way Train calls Eve, Little Princess.(I really luved it when Sephira called Eve the same way!!) I don't like Rinslet either, she's too........weird...

I also like the relationship of Charden & Kyoko too!! It's so funny! It seems like Kyoko is the only Japanese girl around. I luv her 'positive about everything' personality!! With her fire power, she's like Roy's daughter!!

Mabye Sven is pronounce with a silent S?? I don't know...I pronounce it S-ven too... I just have to see the anime to figure out how to prounce Sven...

Train and Ed are both cat-like, mostly Train though. Never mind, Al is mostly cat person. Mabye Al will pick up Train and put it in his armor!!
One greatest difference between Train and Ed is that Train LOVES milk and Ed HATES milk.

A silent S? Hm, I'm not sue but my guess is that the mangaka made his character German. His surname sure make it seem like that. And as far as I know, Sven is pronounced S-ven with a clear 's' and 'vvv'. But I guess it's up to the voice actors to clear up that particular matter.

Black Cat was a total favourite of mine and a total addict at a point before I got to the end of the third volume that was scanlated by Toriyama world, because, at the time, I knew no other place to download from... And,... Yeah... Then there was nothing. Passions cooled down a bit, I guess, but I think I have quite some catching up to do since I already have most (if not all) of Volume 16.

Train is absolutely one of the greatest characters I have read about. His cat-ish behaviour makes me laugh for so long at times. He makes faces that could match even Ed's! Lol... Well, maybe not THAT good (lol), but still really darn close to it.

Winry and Saya, huh? Sounds like it might work pretty well. Creed will be played by the guy (Miki) who did Tsuzuki from Yami no Matsuei and Yoji from Weiss Kreuz. Hmmmm~

I'm at the 14th volume and can't wait for the 15th to come out at the end of September...(I read it in French).

Are you sure there are 20 volumes?
Because I saw different numbers of voulmes so I never really knew which of them was correct (21, 22 and 19...)...

Well... there's 20 volume of manga... 2 volume of books(as in just words and few occasional drawings, story a tiny bit different from manga), and 3 CD dramas(All happen after the manga series... but the 1st two CDs are basically 3 main character talking about their past adventure and 3rd one being original story).

Oh and there's also that book with drawings and info about characters, stroy, and etc.

As for Svan's name... If u want to know the real translation, you could find an old cowboy movie(i think that's what it was...) that the name came from. I forgot the name of the movie but it's one of the author's favorite movie... It think it was on the 1st or 2nd volume where the author talks about how he named the main characters.

for Sven...it really sounds like a German name...or at least nordic (so from scandinavia or so...^^)

I'm pretty sure the author named the characters with English names cause they're in a European environment.

Sven Vollfied sounds pretty German to me. I know Sven's a common name in Europe (a childhood friend of mine was called Sven) but Vollfied? German, I'd be willing to bet on it. o_o

My brother seemed really disappointed by the manga.
I've read the first couple of chapters but I guess I'll find out soon if I like it or not...

OT: The anime doesn't follow the story line from what I heard.

Ooh.. The manga art is so pretty! And it's actually a shonen manga.

I only read one chapter of it because it was in my shonen Jump manga. I like it but I haven't got a chance to buy the first vol.

I read the final vol of Black Cat, AND IT WAS WONDERFUL. T_T
