I'm happy with my life... sure, things go upside down now and then, but isn't that why we call it life? It's not perfect and I've learned to deal with that. I thank God everyday that I exist... life is good. You have to learn to be grateful and giving before you can be happy in this life.

i read boethius's "the consolation of philosophy" and his argument was that free will exists even if God can see our future, in that God is outside of our time and sees each person's past, present, and future as present in His view. i can sort of agree with that, and at the same time i'd like to believe that God plans out our lives and that everything happens for a reason ("in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28). so i don't know if i believe in fate or not, but if it doesn't i don't see how one can "go against" one's fate. i do personally believe that LB's view is naive and idealistic, though; it's irrational to expect yourself to handle every problem with a smile for your whole entire life, and that anything, anything can be solved if you only do your best -- and that that will keep you happy every day.
