I would imagine placing subtitles on top of the actual artwork takes away from how the anime was supposed to be viewed more than dubbing it

So while dubbing does have its good points, the quality and effort put into the dubbing process is what matters more. The reason people dislike dubing companies so much is because of past problems with censorship, story and plot changes, name changes, etc. But dubbing quality has improved, so it's all a matter of, again, how much a company puts into it.

This one I just can't pass up...

Anyway, I've said it once and I'll say it again: the 'dubbing' companies aren't responsible for the changes made to a series for it's airing on TV(With the exception of a few, of course. 4 Kids and Saban stick out in my mind). Companies like Funimation, ADV and Bandai make no changes to their licensed series, with the rare exception of a name change.

To be honest, I don't really care what way I watch Anime in as long as I can actualy watch it. ( I've watched one Episode of Nior in german before, and it was still quite enjoyable ( Speak a bit of German) Also if you don't like english dubs maybe you should watch CANTONESE dubs... That'll put things into perspective tongue.gif )
It's good to be able to go both ways 'cios you can watch more....

Never mention the phrase cantonese dubs!!!

Ack... I still remember that eva episode in cantonese (dual audio track then) you can hear the emotions used for saying a sentence is different between the two, changing the entire atmosphere of the scene as well as messing up that character's personality!

Thank goodness most mandarin dubs are good... (during my dub watching days)

I still wanna see/hear the dubbed version, even though knowing me saying this will get my ass kicked. (I don't really care cuz none o' you can get me. tongue.gif) Seriously... I'm not sad cuz' I've still got all my beloved openings and endings. Even though I don't watch the series for the op/ed. It's still the story that really counts here, right?

Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on the DVDs. happy.gif
