Nah, it just makes it a pain to find. Yuri is rare, good yuri is... next to nonexistant. It's all horrendous- bondage, pedophilic, and so on and so forth. When it seems quite nice and neither has happened, one of the characters involved will spontaneously grow a penis. The only place that you can actually find worthwhile yuri is in fanfiction, for manga and anime where the girls are most definitely girls, and even then... it can be scarring. On the whole, yaoi is a lot more fun to read- I've never heard of a yaoi coupling where someone spontaneously turns into a girl. Female authors seem to be better about that.

I can't say I've ventured into the land of generic shoujo-ai/yuri, though from what I've seen, it appears rather repetitive and bland, and highly caters to the ultra-kawaii loli loving males.

I can't say I've really ventured too far into the yaoi side of things either, but I can't imagine anything as scarring as Ed or Roy's penis suddenly falling off and then the two of them continuing to get it on. The reverse is all too common in yuri...

Shoujo-ai on the other hand, is even rarer then yuri, but much, much better. People who wrte shoujo-ai tend to make it much more fun te read and they,re not catering to people who have sick fetishes that aren't legal when acted out by people.

What is the point of guys penises falling off in the middle of yaoi does it make it less gay? I mean if you are going to write about gay sex it kinda has to be GAY SEX. (maybe the sponteneous penis falling is due to fanboys who are in the closet) The mass majority of yaoi readers are women and having a schlong fall off cant be sexy... I can't speak for the genre but Azumanga yuri manga is bizare.
Lot's of suppirse futa, imaginative "toys" and horribly mis proportioned breasts. Seriously, when a girl can set up a large mechanics shop in one of her breasts and still have room to park her car and make a nice house with a veranda inside it something ain't right.
