Well Ed would mostly have a different name for one. And if Ed was a girl and torn off the clothes it'll most likly end up like an hentai anime/manga . I don't like ed a Winry as a couple, for one I seem them like siblings, two they will do nothing but fight all the time (where is the love in that?) and three thing of poor Al and how he would be crushed since he is the one that sort of has a crush on her plus he was the one that said he wanted to fall in love at least once. That's my opinon and i'll go stand in a corner and shut up now

I already made a similar thread titled "If Alphonse was a girl", which also featured similar prospects, albeit with more of an actual point behind it about gender stereotypes.

Yes, there are female state alchemists. Just none of them are featured as prominent characters. You can see at least one in the Ishbal rebellion flashback, and remember Lyla was trying hard to become a nationally certified alchemist as well.

(Dante is just an alchemist; not a state alchemist. Same with Sensei.)


Actually, come to think of it; it'd be interesting if Ed was a girl; so the shallow fangirls would step back from the series, since approximately 50 percent of the current audience seems to be focused purely on liking Edward 'in-that-way' as their motive for watching. (Which I find to be complete and utter retardation.)

Moreso, if, for example, Winry were a decent looking boy, those shallow fangirls who did take the time to watch the series, would constantly bash 'Edwina' for getting close to him, and call her a slut, and say 'she dosen't deserve him', even though there are no romantic indications between them anyhow.

Mostly, mangas or animes that have main character's mother die, if the main character is a girl, she would most likey would NOT try to perform human transmution. From other mangas, we see girls carrying their mother's picture or photography around.(ex.Fruits Basket, Card Captor Sakura) That means Ed will not even be a state alchemist, Al will never be Armor-nized, and probably Ed will be best friends with Winry. (cause Ed's a girl) And then the whole Full Metal Alchemist TV show will never be completed and never will exists on Earth.

Where the hell did the idea that if Ed was a girl, he'd have never tried the Human Transmutation come from? Are you kidding me? If dante and Izumi (who are both women) both did it, then I don't see why a female Ed wouldn't have. Ed would still be Ed, and the series would still exist, because Ed IS Ed no matter what gender you make him.

Maybe the change of sex could make a Fullmetal Alchemist a lot differenet that the one we know, maybe could be just small changes in the storie(ex: Roy dating Ed, or Winry as a man), but as Fullmetal Raptor said, Ed as a girl cuold have been exactly the same that Ed boy is. With the high, and the same reaction when someone call him/her small.

Winry get mad when they were on the Auto-Mail town (when they were going to Dublith), and the other guy wanted Al to have a handfight with his partner(Al didn`twant to),then he asked Ed, (who didn`t want too) and these guy said something like"That Small boy and with that Automail" in a second Winry and Ed had flames in their eyes, and Winry told Ed to win over that guy`s partner.

If Ed was a girl he sorry she would be like best friends with Winry so it wouldnt be as bad but yeah i think there would be less people watching it and she would be more angesty then usual

Wow. Poor grammar, rude, AND stupid. I'm sorry, but it's not the hair that makes one look girly, it goes for other things as well. Only intelligent people can see pass the hair. Besides it's not bad. I personally think he looks better like that.Anyway. Yeah, I don't see it having any affect on the plot line just cause he would be a girl. I do see the female version being slightly more emotional however. And possibly, the show could lose it's popularity. If I was the creator, I would slightly alter the clothes. Names? Actually, 'Edward' could still pass.
