I don't really look at the fan art...I usually read fan fiction is that strange?

Depends on what kind of fan fiction...i think

The way cool yaoi with a mature rating that usually has a lot of kissy and many other things...

Well. It was awkward seeing Love Mode at Borders. Wrapped in shrink-plastic, of course. Second volume by Blu is out. Kinda happy to have it in my hands, but I can't help but feel that it's not the same.

Madness by Shimotsuki Kairi
In 3000AD, mankind is in chaos after a series of natural disasters. It's up to the Catholic priest Izaya and his mass-murderer companion Kyou to save the day... somehow. Beautiful Soup brings you yet another pretty apocalyptic romp with plenty of crosses and gore thrown in for good measure. We're not quite sure how the whole story goes, but it's a staff favourite so far...

In order to download 'Bean of the Military' and 'Bean of Roy', I downloaded a whole package of scanlated doujinshi, which turned out to be all Roy/Ed, and surprisingly, were not too bad. As a non-liker of Roy/Ed, I found some of them to be quite good reads. 'Cept I deleted 'Blue Flame' right off. Rapist Roy makes me sad.

It's so... not Roy.
'Est Est Est', a three part series with decent art, makes a good effort at developing their relationship. 'Raison' had a lot of short stories, in which it's kind of hard to differentiate between, since they just kind of cut off and move on without any title or indication (And the omake... I didn't get most of them...). I liked the first story in Raison best, just because it was adorable. Restraint was pretty cool too; a projection of a grown Ed and Al, apparently several years after being completely restored (Which is interesting, since most fanworks seem to focus on Al being restored and Ed keeps his automail). It shows Ed with super long hair (liek whoa), and some really cute Al/Winry which made me squee.

Me either. It's pretty cheesy, but I love the Omi/Hide pairing myself and the bishies are worth watching it. I'm just scared that the anime will end differently than the manga did.Have you read the manga for Gakuen Heaven yet? It's not as cheesy, but it's really short.

Shindo/Hiro/K/Tatshua all at once. Poor Shindo. The remixes are pretty tame compared to the megamixes. Now that's pure smut at it's finest. Muramaki's Gamerz Heaven dj are on the same level as the megamixes. Even I, a seasoned yaoi veteran, blushed at some of the content.

I love shounen-ai! I'm actually kinda new to it. I've heard about Gravitation, is it really that great? The main character seems so young.
I also heard about Haru wo Daiteita, anyone knows if it's any good? It is beautifully drawn, but I can't find very much from it.

Yes, gravitation IS amazing. It's about a young boy who becomes an international singer. It's reeeaaallly funny, but is still really touching at times. You should check it out!
If you want another good shounen-ai, then you should look up "Loveless". It's adorable, the style is to die for. It's so cute it makes me bleed from the nose. Really.

Actually, if I may offer an opinion about Gravitation, it sucks.
Not really as a manga, but definitely as a romance. The story and comedy in itself might be itriguing if it wasn't for that annoying impractical and abusive gay relationship in the way.

Not.

Agreed. I was always more of a Shuichi/Ryuichi fan myself. In Gravitation 2, there seems to be some hope for another pairing.
Ryuichi has just confessed his love for Shuichi, and it was leaked to the press, so yuki found out and now they're marriage is on the rocks. Yea, the hope is still alive for the moment, but I have a feeling that he'll go back to that sadist, Yuki.
Sure, that is okay!
I finally managed to see Ai no Kusabi OVA 1 and 2. I really hate the ending! But the story was good, I liked it very much. Best yaoi anime I've seen so far. And I think Iason is hot! ^^
I've seen one of the weirdest things a few days ago. It's called 'Princess Princess', I found it at Aarinfantasy. It's about a boy who goes to a boy's school, and it's a tradition there that the most beautiful guys from the school go dressed as a girl to keep all the boys satisfied. Is that weird or what?

Anyone heard about this anime? It's not really shounen-ai or yaoi though, maybe a few hints. I've only seen the first episode, and I'm not planning to seriously watch the entire anime XD
BTW, I can't believe there are so few yaoi/shounen-ai fans. Where are all the yaoi lovers? I'm sure there are more fans on this forum

I think everyone really likes Gravitation because the yaoi genre has always been extremely taboo. You could never get yaoi manga from your local bookstore; you just read yaoi fanfiction from non-yaoi series and that was that. (Or download fansubs of yaoi series that would never ever see American television.) But then suddenly now you can walk into Barnes & Noble and see these manga sitting on the shelf; the brain shuts down and is filled with, "Oh my God they're actually selling yaoi manga here I can't believe it when did this happen oh look at them they're two men together and its canon and squeee!"
Gravitation seems to be popular because it's a forerunner; it's one of the first yaoi manga that's being sold in the mainstream. I bought the first five or so volumes because the novelty was just too much of a temptation. I don't really think I'm going to buy more, though; the storyline just isn't holding my attention. Yuki is a bastard because of his angst, and Shuichi is the sensitive, tortured uke that just keeps coming back for more. If I wanted that, I could go read some pre-game Sephiroth/Cloud; and it would probably be better written, as well (depending on the author).
I'm not hating on Gravitation; I love it for the fact that it's proof. It's a sign that times are changing; that homosexual relationships are okay. That young men in love can walk down the streets holding hands without worrying about being assaulted; that being a homosexual won't get you disowned by your entire family; that a straight girl can walk into a mainstream bookstore and buy comic books about two men without having to feel like she's commiting a crime.
I think that, once the novelty wears off, each one of us will decide what kind of yaoi she likes. Don't be fooled; there are as many types of romance in yaoi as there is in the heterosexual series. You may start off watching Gravitation and Loveless and Haru wo Daiteita and Yami no Matsuei; what do they all have in common? They're all yaoi. But that's all they have in common.
You may start off watching all the yaoi you can get your hands on, because it's yaoi, but I think eventually you'll find what you like best. Maybe it's the energy and drama in Gravitation; maybe it's the angst and hurt-comfort vibe to Loveless; maybe it's the sheer smut and scandal of Haru wo Daiteita; maybe it's the action/suspense/twisted-obsessions of Yami no Matsuei. Maybe you will end up prefering all of them. But most people won't, and that's perfectly all right.
The main point is that, these days, you can gain more and more access to all of it. The world is your oyster; go find those yaoi pearls.
(If anyone would like to discuss yaoi with me, or even just disagree with me, I'm fully open to it. Also, I can provide links to all episodes of Loveless and Yami no Matsuei, as well as the two OAVs of Haru wo Daiteita, if anyone is interested. All you have to do is PM.)
