I just watced the trailer for the next(46)episode. It seems Sloth will confront Alphonse, Ed will fight Wrath, Lust will betray the Homunculus and tell Ed everythign she learned from Dante AND there is one pissed off Envy. I wish it was out already i______i

about hohenheim i hope he's not dead how can such high level alchemist be killed so easy?! he will come back and at full force!

I doubt that Hohenhiem is dead. If Dante wanted to kill him she easily could have without the fancy dramatics. Besides, I think it is only equivalant trade, Dante is trading Hohenhiem for...something.

Either way, I think Hohenhiem can light up the darkness in that gate and may eventually come out. I think it would suck to kill off a character like him after so little screen time. Hell, maybe Hohenhiem will see Greed in there. They could get drunk and party.

My take on the flashback:

Hohenhiem 150+ years ago creates P. Stone. (Using the Great Skill, and without having to touch the transmutation circle) Immediately dies after doing so. Dante takes the stone, and seals Hohenhiems soul onto the Butler. (Damn, its always the butler) Then some other crazy stuff happened that I lost track of.

actually, from ep 39+, my excitement for fma episodes had drastically toned down. but reading about what's in store for ep 45 had got me intrigued again... (specially because i heard there's a RoyxRiza moment... hehehehe)

but, i was just wondering... (i haven't seen ep 45 yet)... Hohenheim is 150+ years old... is his body still the same body (of the butler?) now or is it a new one? was dante's old body the real one (before lyra)?

poor hohenheim... only lasted 3 episodes... >.<

Seems that Dante and Hohenheim were a couple in the past (400 years) both of them sacrificed humans for the creation of the first Philosopher Stone. I dont get why that Philosopher Stone is so small compared to the one that Al has inside. How did that stone dissapear? Also the creator of the stone must go also in the process of trasmution because in the flashback the one who created it died instantly, being Al an it (armor) he didn't die when it was trasmuted into him. Maybe if Ed had done it he would die in the procress. On another note Pinako acted suspicious when Winry, Ed, Scheiza were talking, she was near the door listening to their conversation...

Was it just me or did she trade Hohenheim for Wrath? It looked to me like Wrath came out of the gate. Then Dante said something like It's ok Wrath. You don't have to return to the other side of the gate.

I could be wrong though.

Here is a little explanation on the stone and on the Death of the Hoenheim...


First off yes the one who creates the Philosiphers stone will also die. The reason Al did not die is because he did not create it. The one who created it was Scar and he put it within Al's body.

As for the Hoenheims death he was not killed. His body was given to the gate and his soul was transplanted into the body of Roze's baby.

i agree with Virtue, I think that's the most likely thing that has happened.
But giving her baby to a someone else!? what is Roze thinking!? "hey can a borrow your baby for a sec?" "sure, go ahead Lyra, but what for?" "... nothing"

Yes I am sure. She used a pentagram-like transmutation circle on the baby which opened the gate. The gate took his body and transplanted his soul to the baby. This way the Hoenheim is still alive but can not interfere with Dante's plans.

And I agree with Chloe, the music during the flashback and during the whole scene involving the gate is just awsome!

So what happens to the soul of Rose's baby then?

probably it went into the gate...

Can they get it back?

probably it will have a double personality later

Is it just me or is there a major plot hole in this episode?

Hohenheim tells Al in 44 that it's possible with the kenja no ishi to transfer a soul to another body... If that's the case, then how is Dante able to transfer Hohenheim's soul to the baby, or her own soul to Layla if she doesn't have it?
Also, what happened to the original stone that was created 400 years earlier? Is the stone limited in its utility, or did she just lose it?

My Japanese isn't perfect and there's a lot of difficult language in this episode, but these facts didn't seem to add up.
