Maybe for the same reason we would go check out cave men if we could.
Yes, I believe that there is other sentient forms of life (people if you will) out there pretty much for the same reason others have stated so I won't repeat it.

There probably are other forms of life including possibly other sentient forms. I just don't believe that cows are being abducted or at least, if they are, I have to say I have no respect for them

Europa is probably our best bet to try to get some life samples assuming there really is an ocean underneath the icy surface. Once we get the microbes, people will be more inclined to "accept" alien life I think.

Think about how many other species there are on earth other then human. There are hundreds of thousands different types, which means that the probability of aliens visting earth is low. Its more likely that we will encounter an alien bacteria or some other microorganism. Though I still do strongly believe that aliens have visited us

wait, what does the diversity of earth's global ecosystem have to do with the odds of alien encounters?
WhiteMike
May 10 2005, 01:25 PM
well, if you think about it, earth is the perfect environment for species to live in, we have a survivable temperature range, water(thats a big one), and plenty of oxygen and vegitation. So if this is the best place for us to live, then most likely there are other systems out there that have the same type of environment that we do.
There are a huge amount of different species just on earth, millions of bacteria and viruses, hundred of thousands of insects, thousands of reptiles and birds, 4 large primates (chimps, gorillas, orang-tang, and human). The number of species other then human is dramatically higher, which means that the possibility of meeting another humanoid species in this universe is extremely low. Since there are so many types of bacteria and viruses, it increases chance of us finding that kind of alien life form. K?

but thats under the assumption that all life is carbon based... if you throw in silicon as a replacement for carbon, you dramtically raise the chances of alien life. also what makes you think that aliens have to be humannoid? just because the bipedal design is the dominant on earth doesn't necessarily make it so elsewhere.

Im just saying that we could have an atmosphere made up of methane or hydrogen sulfide, or our planet could be one little planetary slot over (like where venus is), and the days are too hot and the nights are too cold for aything to survive. It was pure chance that life even started on this planet.
and there are significant findings that silicon could replace carbon, so who knows what they would look like?

Oh, of course there are aliens. Look at crop circles, for instance. 90% of crop circles are fake, but the ones that ARE real have the insides of the wheat crops blown out, yet the crop still lives and continues to grow. And the stalks are all interwoven in a perfect blanket. They also appear within mere minutes. Even stranger, if you were to map out all of the crop circles in England and were to draw a line between them, you would find that nearly all of the circles are aligned with Stonehenge. Coincidence? yes,
edward....... i heard of this huuuuuuuuge formula which is(with a certain possibility) describing the possibility that there would be thinking life on a planet...
this formula was something like("p" is the possibility/chance):
p(there is materia in the universe)
+p(there is gravitation which binds them together)
+p(there is O2 and other materia)
+p(it's built the right atmosphere)
+p(it's the right temperature)
+p(there's water)
+p(there's life)
+p(there's thinking life)
etc..............^^

Ya, I agree. People tried to use hypnosis on their patients to see if they were telling the truth, but scientists just found out that when people are under hypnosis they tend to make up things. Not just little things either. Like this one person, they stayed in a controlled enviornment for a couple nights, anxd they were carefully monitered by people and camaras.
When the person was awake they put them into hypnosis state, and asked them what happened that night. The person told this story about how he/she heard 2 distinct knocks and they got up to investigate the noise, but heard nothing. This event was not captured on any camara or person.
Just goes to show how people have to be critical when they research something.

Scarily enough, I have. It's kind of sad that all of them are believed to be real. Most crop circles aren't real, but I believe that some of them are.
I mean, some of the most complex circles appear in a matter of minutes. Guards watching over Stonehenge at night have gone on break and come back only five minutes later to find a circle in one of the fields surrounding the landmark.

But isn't it kinda a weird that crop circles only form when people aren't looking at them? I need to see some physical evidence to support those claims, like a video tape or something else. Im not trying to say that I don't believe in real crop circles, I've already seen video of these 2 flashing balls flying over the fields in England, and having them (the filmer) being chased by an army helicopter a couple minutes later. There's some freaky shit goin' on.
