I think the biggest problem most people have with yaoi and fanfics is that they seem to think that the creator and the fans think that it will happen, should happen, or has happened, and that if it did, it would destroy the anime. We know its fiction, and they should know that too. Harmless fantasies that hold no bearings over the actual shows. People really shouldn't be so high strung over it.

Yeah, I have read some stuff that I have really liked despite the fact that I'm against the pairings, just because it was written so well. Was reading a RoyxEd one that I got really pulled into a few days ago. Still don't like the pairing, but I had to credit the author, they definitely seemed to know what they were doing.

To all the people who think it's immature to not like yaoi: Personally, I think it's just plain wrong. Personally, it really depends on the plot and characters. For FMA, I'm not interested, even thought I found a really good dj of HughesXMustang. For some reason, given that the plot is worth it, I'd rather read yaoi than something with hetero relationships. Something about how they portray women disgusts me. And plus, most guyxgirl stuff they have out there is meaningless porn for people to get off.

I think maturity has nothing to do with sexual orientation or liking yaoi or not. I am against yaoi not because of my religion (I'm a Catholic BUT I accept homosexuality in real life, though I am striaight) The point is, I cannot quite accept twisting the writer/artist's orginal pairings, relationships, characters etc., especially for Elricest and RoyEd. I mean, Al and Ed's bondage is really pure and great siblings love, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO TWIST IT??? Ed HATES Roy Mustang, why make them together in your fantasies?

The problem is when people write fanfics/fanart....they think its gonna happen...or has happened...and that ticks me off...........

Personally, since I'm a horribly dull follower and all, my one-true-pairing is MustangxHawkeye, with all the rest. I still don't care if they're paired with other people though. (I mean, it's probably the closest to canon pairing there is, but it's still not like it's completely true. They could just be friends.)

And whereas I'm more partial to the canonness of EdxRose, I still adore the concept of EdxRussel, or EdxWinry.

I, personally, like yaoi. I find nothing wrong with someone wanting to pair up two characters from a series if they see a potential there, even if other people don't see the said potential. Sometimes people like to pair two guys up because it makes for a depthining subject, interesting plot, and very deep dynamics.

The stereotype of us shounen ai and yaoi fangirls only like seeing to hot anime guys together because it's HOTT is not true. Being a fan of it myself, and being around many other fans, we are very mature and diverse people. I could care less if the characters are "hot" as people say ( they are only cartoon characters ), but I like how a relationship could be if you put them together; dangerous, complicated. When you pair them up, it adds flare and the troubles they have to go through makes me stick to it. It's very interesting if you can get past your disgust for it.

Of course, that doesn't mean the annoying fans that only like seeing two, hot anime guys together don't exist. But that also means there are many het fans that like het couples because they are "omgSOCUTEandmeanttoBELOL!". We all have no room to talk. XD

Also, just to be fair, I enjoy het couples, too. EdWin, Royai, and just about everything you can throw at me. So, honestly, I don't find the meaning when people say that they don't like it when someone takes the mangaka's characters and puts them together for their own enjoyment. But, wait, aren't we all doing that?

Royai, EdWin, and almost every, popular couple are NOT canon, as of yet. Doesn't that mean we are sort of taking the characters and putting them in a relationship that tickles our fancies? It doesn't matter how much evidence there is-- they aren't together. It sort of contradicts.

Although I'm [mainly] pro-shonen-ai/yaoi (Russell/Ed), I don't have any problems with het (Mason/Rose), yuri (Winry/Panninya), incest (Al/Ed), gen (durr), etc. etc. To me, when reading a [serious] fic or watching a series, it's the relationships between individuals and the love/feelings that preceeds it that counts, whether or not those relationships blossom to something more sexual in nature - I really don't mind if it's either. (Yes, I'm very eloquent this lovely evening -___-;;)

If you dislike the thought of two men together, you can say so, but PLEASE respect others if they have nothing wrong with it by not killing your caps lock in an utmost rude manner.
