Usually I am from the type of people who don't like the main character, because he's typically naive, cute and sweet-mannered. But in this case, we don't really have our typical main character, who is also most of the time either a really tall teenager or a kid below or around twelve years old (so it's natural for it to be short). What I found in FMA so fun in the beginning was Ed's short and quite rotten temper ( ), his sensitivity when it comes to the topic of his height and everything. Second, I'm not really much into blonde guys... Just not my style. But then again, Ed's not really a typical character. ^^ Plus, he's build so great even though he's short, so when compared, who cares he's short if he looks like a billion bucks? Another thing that was already said, he has quite some taste in clothes. --drools-- Even though he adds quite some humor and mainly in the first few chapters of the manga, he proves that he can also be serious when he has to. All in all, Ed's the man!

Though, I like Roy's attitude also. Haha, he's a cool dude as well. He has the looks too. Haven't seen him shirtless yet.

Winry's another favourite of mine as well, not to forget Riza-san too. I like Riza's attitude towards Roy... Especially when they first encountered Scar in the rain. I laughed my ass off with the "you're worthless when it's raining" thing...

since i'm in love with ed he's the only character i like every one else is cool yeah but ed is HOT

Edward is my favorite character. Though I most of the time seem to prefer the main character but Ed is still to awesome not to like. And Armstrong is funny and most of the other FMA characters are great.

Little update to this because I already posted here:
Lan Fan is soooo badass.
She is one of the strongest female characters I ever saw....she cut her own arm off and didn't cry, she grit her teeth and bared with the pain, and now, she's thinking about getting automail. I liked her ever since her first apperance when she smacked Edward around a little and beat up Envy. I do hope we'll get to see her recovery and her return in the manga, but that might be awhile....

Indeed Ran Fan (Lan Fan) is badass (and hot). However I have a feeling that the automail sugery will be more painful thean losing her arm. Besides there is no real way to tell if she cried when she actually cut off her arm or when the doctor stitched her up. Poor Ran Fan. *cries for her*

Why is Ed, Ling, and Al worried about Envy. Gluttony is obviously way more powerful. Ed beat Ran Fan in a fight with a bit of trouble and stradegy, but she totally whupped Envy therefore I'd expect it to be Ling>New Gluttony(mostly cause Ling kept up with Wrath)>Ed/Al(I think Ed has is a bit better at Alchemy and speed of course. But Al obviously has more strength and endurance, so it's tough to say which is the better of the two)>Ran Fan>>>>>Envy

i'll join the bandwagon! my favorite character overall, in both anime & manga, is hughes. 'cause he's sweet and funny and silly, yet he's a really great military man, and really smart (he was the first one to figure out at least a part of what was going on, and look where that got him!). not to mention he's hawt *insert fangirly drooling here*

as for manga characters in particular... i love barry. he makes me laugh my head off, it's so cute. and ling-- because he's cool when he's fighting but he's still such a dork, fainting in the middle of the street all the time

oh, and hayate! does hayate count?

This is my first post too. My favorite character would have to be Alphonse Elric =3

Ed, because from what he's been through, he shows great maturity and perception of the world. He's unique, and the fact that he has some undesirable traits like stubbornness shows that he's not perfect. He's not afraid to show disregard like a goody two-shoes (X3) but he knows the difference between what's right and what's wrong.

And he's an adorable huggleable bundle of automail and blonde hair :squeal:

i actually also liked Lust, she was much better in the manga... personally i think the manga is better than the anime...
it's a pity Lust died so soon in the story '
